HM delivers breakfish, and DH2 comes down from above the cams.

DH2 watches parents on the Y as they feak their beaks, too.  So much to learn.
Couple closeups from about 1:00 this afternoon.  Windy so not many flies on the branches.

So good to have days to watch DH2 develop and explore after branching.
Pics of the two-fish breakfast and brunch, then a very full crop by noon. Making a pile of fish means you can defend both at the same time -- new discovery for today.

Late afternoon, DH2 on the Y, then looks up and flies to branches above where it sounds like moving around and settling in.
About 7:00 PM rewind showed an eagle takeoff from above N1 and long soaring flight up the stream and out of sight.  It's one of the adults.

HD2, where are you?

From chat mod:

Decorah Eagles DH2 Fledged (explore.org 06 30 2023) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8xY84WhIzA

After a lengthy discussion with volunteers and camera operators, we concluded that DH2 fledged yesterday evening at 6:08pm! Robin Brumm said: "I was watching on rewind when I heard some leaves rustle, saw her fly off coming from behind/above the camera and fly to the northwest, toward the tree area back by that house with the solar panels." I've attached Robin's screenshot and we're keeping an eye out for her online and on the ground! We'll post when we have more information. Go DH2!
