Decorah Eagles 2023
« on: January 01, 2023, 01:46:00 AM »

The New Year has arrived here abouts.
Just as a Nanosecond bow to stern of a artificial line in time had just passed.

My end of 12/31/2022 thought is of Bob Anderson and his vision

All the folks that make this happen and let my typed words see your eyes have so raised the torch.

What a great spinning web of awesomeness has come of an idea of putting a camera on a bald eagle nest.
It brings people together from all over the globe and makes them think.
Inadvertently unfolded untold unchecked environmental awareness.

A True Legacy.
U. S. A.

Check out the rewind from about noon to 3:00 for good flying, fishing the pond, and perching, mostly by HD and some by HM.  HD also brought the head of a rabbit to the Y for mid-afternoon snack closeups.

Great pics, STL

A few snaps from yesterday that I forgot to post - HD over the pond, HD enjoying his rabbit head, HD on Y, and HM below bluff and above creek

A few random pics from Decorah today - HM & HD leave the bluffs this morning and head over to N1, tree below the first bluff seems to be a favorite (both are perched), one of the pair leaving the tree, and HM on T1

Good Morning...

I was up and took a peek at the nest in IR.

I ususally go by size and can't see enough. But, from what I can see,  will 'guess'  HM .

Phyl, not sure which eagle you are calling HM, but both of them were perching in the N1 branches overnight and into daybreak. Upper left, and lower right.

About 8:00 AM, they were doing some nestorations.  HM brought a large branch that they both moved around.  Then in a view of HM on the Y, it looks like she has lost a long wing feather on one side.  Other views (but no pics) look the same.

My observations just from watching, HD usually perches on the upper branch and HM on that lower branch.
