I missed the fledge last evening!  What a wonderful experience to watch HM and HD raise DH2 successfully here at N1.  Sure hope we get to see DH2 again soon, on a feeding foray.  Wouldn't it be great to watch DH2 fishing the Retention Pond?

I'll be looking forward to watching ATF and what RRP has to say about this exciting season.

Parents were hanging around in branches near the nest early this morning.  Lots of great panning views of the area from the cam ops today!  About 3:00, HM brought prey to the Y and sat with it for a while before eating it.  So far, no sign of DH2 except that one pic posted here -- early morning view of the bluffs with a dark shape that moved some.

Looks like lots of folks had a peek at the dark blob along the bluffs from yesterdays pic.  Any news about ID?

This morning at about 7AM, a way distant view of an eagle perched at the top of a tall dead tree.  An hour later, a hawk or possibly a juvenile eagle perched in leafy branches, not sure of the location.

Possible that DH2 might have gone to N2B?  Boots on the ground might know, because the camera is showing only highlights of the geese.

Appears HD2 has been found, but problematically, he's joined a gang!  ;)
Hopefully parents lure of food and home will lure him back.

No problem eburg just DH2 broadening her social circle, getting new views, making new contacts for learning.  LOL   Wonder what's taking place with meals.  I thought we'd see her return for a while to DH2 now and then for days of famine pickings.  Does the "gang" look to be new eaglets or mixed generations?

That's a relief to know that DH2 has been located and seems to be OK.  Great to see the photo from the watchers!!  More to come, and keep up the searching you camera operators.

About 3PM, three vultures [turkey, I think] were perched in one of the dead trees near the Pond bluffs.  They had been soaring for a while.  My screen capture program does not do video, and pics would be really tiny black dots.  Maybe someone else will post pics.  Could there have been an eagle in the soaring group?  Could all of them have been eagles?  Somebody help with ID and info!

Vultures gathered at the top of the Pond bluff where the geese sometimes landed also in spring.  They were soaring in the area, and on rewind you can watch them land.  They are as large as bald eagles, but different appearance.

You're kidding of course STL?  It looks like a day at the spa/revival break.  Sunning, resting, break time.  I counted 6 or 7 at one point.  I think it's at the cliff behind the runoff pond - the area back where original nest was?  What a treat it was watching them.

I could think of worse ways to spend my 3rd afternoon away from N1 as you peeps call it.

I have this strange sense there is some magical Eagle Love here abouts, can't quite put my talon on it. 

Perched on top of a snapped off Pine tree very near The Trout Run.
Hey this could suck.

DH2's new world if I may take the liberty to say ..
Fed
Flight lessons
Positive landings
Talons working 20 by 20
High in a tree free to Squee
Landing and firmly perched

I some how feel as though I am designed to be perched in a pine tree and looking all regal and cool and shit.

Kill and eat all future red wing black birds _ Check.

Retention pond in view ...
   

Makes Pip and I's hearts soar with smiles so hard we have no adjectives.

Not very far from this Video Nest Zero just on the other side of Trout Run.
The foot of the pine is just feet north of Trout Run flowing magically out of Siewers Springs.

~ For the life of me I can't figure out why 2 footers want to try to raise fish here ~   :P

The less this very juvenile wild Bald Eagle 'interacts' with humans here at the hatchery the better it will be for it when it interacts with true wild.

Human Distance is Key right now.
