Thanks to all for the wonderful pics. I have had some health problems recently and rely on you folks to fill in the gaps while I'm lurking.
DH2 is clearly thriving, but I am now realizing the benefits of being the second or third eaglet that has to learn patience and the art of the steal for survival after leaving the nest. The last thing eagle parents want to raise is a snowflake. Maybe the gnats and the black flies will teach DH2 the hard lessons of this hard world. Mostly, I am thrilled that he is thriving and that HD and HM are learning valuable lesson (like build a bigger nest) now.
Puff, I am so sorry that medical protocols (dictated largely by insurance) require us to suffer before going straight to the most effective treatment/procedure, but I'm glad that for now things are better for you.

Lilbirdz I am sorry that you have been having health problems and hope that you feel much better soon.

I had the same thought about DH2 not having the benefit of learning to steal from a sibling and wonder if this will affect her survival.

When D19 was the only sibling left shortly after fledging, Mom and Dad did the aggression training, often on the mulch pile.  I've been wondering if these young parents will know to do this. I'm betting on them.

Lisa, looks like DH2 has been eating lots of indigestibles!

It's close to 90 degrees in Decorah this afternoon, the hottest day so far in May?  The geese are liking the water and DH2 looks like a nice dip would be welcome.  Won't be too many weeks until that could happen.  Flies are getting annoying now, also.

I'm curious about the consensus on DH2, namely, do we think DH2 is female? My money is on that huge beak of "hers." ;)

Pics from yesterday in Decorah - HD brought in a fawn leg for DH2, and the 6 gosling family taking a swim in the pond

Breakfast delivered by HM - DH2 mantles as HM delivers breakfast, not sure what breakfast is, but HM took over the feeding, DH2 & HM side by side, and DH2 & HM both working on a piece of the prey
