Lisa, I can't ID the early morning prey from HM, either.  Not fish.  Maybe road kill of some kind.  The folks at Explore usually have a good idea about prey.  With the fawn leg yesterday, HD2 is getting more variety in diet for sure.

STL, I was thinking some kind of road kill, too.  It looked kinda mangled, and had a stick wrapped around it, I think.

Yes, good to see a lil variety in DH2's diet.

This morning, while HD was delivering something furry, you could hear someone land.  Cam went to HM, who had landed in a sticky situation.  HM finally let go of branch and flew down, and came to nest with fish.

It's time to start making reservations for ATF 2023.  The reservation limit for the Marriott Fairfield accommodations is coming June 8, next Thursday.  Pricing and availability after that date is not guaranteed.

                            After The Fledge   2023
Our get-together this year will be July 20 thru July 23.  Extra days pre or post could be added as needed.  Starts on Thursday evening, departures for most would be on Sunday.
My unfortunate news for some might be that the manager will not be offering us a hold on any rooms at the Country Inn & Suites.  Anyone so inclined to stay there will have to call for your own arrangements  800-830-5222.   Maybe register a  complaint with manager Justin?

Fairfield      Different rates for different dates for categories
         King-bed room:  $119, $154, $179  (Th, F, Sat)
         2 Queen beds:    $119, $164, $189  (Th, F, Sat)
         Reserve by June 8

Quality Inn      King-bed(s) room:      $192 nightly
         Queen bed(s) room:  $182 nightly

From RRP Facebook page:

A brief but serious storm brought down the cottonwood immediately east of N1 this afternoon. No eagles or people were injured, DH2 is still in the nest, and HM and HD have both been spotted since the storm. We're keeping an eye on things and are very glad that everybirdy stayed safe  through the squall.

A thousand thousand thanks to our volunteers. We're busy banding falcons right now, so they've been running cameras, chatting, and keeping everyone updated on Facebook. We couldn't do it without them or you! Talons crossed that tomorrow is a better day! Here's a picture of DH2 looking over its realm shortly after the storm, and here's a video from Tulsa. It happened quickly! https://youtu.be/5L_pdNYR544

Note from Ginger:  I did not include the picture.

Whew, some luck we had there. Thanks for the storm update and video, Ginger.

Morning pics from Decorah - DH2 got 2 fish delivered by HD for breakfast, a favorite perching spot of HD, Geese families at the pond, and a view E with no T1 in view.

So, T1 is the tree that went down?  I'm not sure which one that is.  Do you have a pic that shows it?

Thanks, Lisa.  I kind of thought it was that tree.  My last question:  Was it a tree that had leaves or was it a dead tree?

Thanks Ginger, Lisa, others for the pics, video, and info about the storm that took down T1.  So relieved that the Hatchery eagles are all OK, and their N1 nest and tree also.  Ma Nature has a violent streak!   ::)

Here's a pic of DH2 on the nest, with the blank space in upper right where T1 used to be.  Everybirdie will miss the photo ops and great perching spot that was T1.

Later, DH2 stretched out one wing, and it reached clear across the nest!  This eaglet is getting so big. And gorgeous.

Ginger,

I have seen pics from one Explore chatter who visits, and the tree had leaves on it.  ;)
