tsk Local weather people didn't look like you were getting even sprinkles this morning.  I've had nothing since yesterday.  Actually, sun is shining here.  Fox weather just dubbed up north "terrential".

Different sides of the track.  LOL

Good Morning Beakers!

Phyl, yes, halfway to the weekend! And here I am, Munchkinless... 59 right now, high 80 today. Oh, those naughty dogs!

tsk, we got a good rain yesterday evening, totally not in the forecast! 1.8", so we are good. You have had quite a bit lately and now more this morning!

kb, not good news on the Mississippi...

Lani, so glad to hear that UQ has been fed and visited by a parent! Back on the nest with a full tummy! Great pictures, I love that beautiful place. And thank you for keeping us up with the Royals, you have captured all the good stuff and more! You are so appreciated!

E4E, great pictures of your VW Westfalia, it looks brand new! And there's little Star... and the back of you!  ;D Oh yes, Ed always tells me what a deal he got, 'it only cost blah blah blah' and always adds that he got his 10% Military discount on top of that! What a great Birthdays celebration! So nice that you have family all around!

T40, great story from the firefighter in Lahaina, so intense... and terrifying for the firefighters and the residents.

BL, heading for Alaska?

baz, most of our old camping gear is up in the attic above the garage. I couldn't get it out if I wanted to, and it surely smells old, it's been up there since 1996 (when we bought this house... That will probably be Erin's to throw out some day... Ed has a degree in Procrastination, a Master's Degree to be sure!

oldguy, I really enjoyed watching the video of Fluffy's VW collection!

Lisa, glad to hear Bandit is fine! Just a fluke, maybe he wants to stay fit and trim for his new love, Misty! For some reason I thought Jeff worked on your side of the bridge! Does he love rush hour on the bridge? LOLOL!

tig, glad you made it back home safely!

LesleytheBirdNerd - Sweet Blue looking so beautiful 🐦 I hope you all have a nice day!

Good Morning Beakers

Morning Puff   :)

tsk - I hope the rain has stopped for you today.  We have had nice weather all week, but just saw local weather girl say, rain for the weekend.

baz - Thank you  :-*

T40 - Thanks for the article.

BL - Have fun on your next adventure.

Phyl - Thank you  :-*  Hope you got your computer issues resolved. Cute doggie shames.

E4E - Thank you  :-*  Aww, so nice of your Mom wanting to share her sale money with Kris. Sounds like a nice afternoon you had with mom & sis.  Thanks for pics from car show {{Star}}

tig - Glad you are home safe.

Lani - Yes, ugh, taxes! Thanks for the Royal update.

kb - Glad you have some help this morning with the boulder.

clynn - Love the beautiful pumpkin!  I can always count on you for a good giggle!  Love the Bandit/Misty comment  ;D  Nope, Jeff works on the other side.  He hates the bridge rush hour traffic.  One of the reasons he works 7-3:30pm, most days he can miss it, unless there is an accident on bridge.  Thankfully, he is now teleworking two days a week from home, Thurs & Fri, so he will miss that beach traffic in summer!

Tig - Although it is fun to get away for a while - its nice to get back home!

BL - Bacon!   Jackson Browne  ;D

Lani - Thank you!   My little Star always loved 'road trips'!   My late brother was a Scorpio too!   Awe, UQ  :-*  - love the pics.

Kb - Sad to see the MS River so low - thank goodness the Barges can still make it through there.

Tsk - Needless to say we have never done any cooking inside the bus.  The times that we took it camping, we had a coleman stove and a small bbq grill to use outside. :)

Phyl - Cute morning gif.   Funny 'shames';  cute doggies and rooster!

Puff - Nice that you have had some rain!

Clynn - Ed is a good shopper - and his 10% discount makes it hard to turn down a 'good deal'! ;D   Is it hard not to have the Munchkins on Wednesday anymore?   I know you are finding other things to keep busy!! ;D   Beautiful pic from LesleytheBirdNerd.

Everyone have a nice day  :)

Otis Fishing Report UPDATE for September 19, 2023: We last saw an Otis Cameo on River Watch about 4:30 p.m. Katmai time yesterday. An hour+ later, we find Otis on River Watch Buddy System Meandering with 747. They say their Howdydos, play a quick game of Chicken, and then they turn away from each other simultaneously. Because old bears know it's not worth the fuss -- just feed me and leave me alone.

Moments later, we get a much-missed Otis POUNCE! The body language following is typical Otis -- he pauses, brings his paw up slowly, and grabs his catch with his mouth -- it's a FISH, wiggle and all! He takes it to dry(er) land to dine, as 747 looks on in earnest with his big ol' puppy dog eyes (747 has a catch immediately following, so no worries -- he's not starving hahaha).

Final count for September 19 is 4 Fish + 6 Scraps + 27 DOAs on cam and counted! There were a couple of eats caught off cam and eaten on cam which *may* have been fish based on how long Otis took to eat them, but they're not confirmed to be FISH, so classed as DOAs. The point being that he's eating well in the River!

And until next time, sending Wishes for Fishes! ♥

747 on the Left, Otis on the right, please note gold color and V-like scar on right shoulder

On Brooks Falls Cam: In case you haven't heard (which would be impossible if you've been in chat even one second today lol), 503 returned last night shortly after 8:00 p.m. Katmai time! WOOT! Here is video courtesy of SarahBear:

Royal Albatross ~ UQ Chick's Mom Comes In For A Feeding! 💗 9.20.23
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yecNJhhG3Y&t=2s

Sep 20, 2023
UQ chick sees a parent flying overhead and he gets excited and starts wheeing. UQ then runs towards Mom LOL as he sees her back on her nest. Lucky UQ gets a nice feeding from Mom ♥ This was an important feed because this may the last time that UQ gets to see his Mom before he fledges. LOL being a single parent this season is averaging  coming in about every 6-7 days. UQ chick is 233 days old today (average fledging is 240 days). With the amount of flight practice he has had over the past couple of week, UQ could very easily fledge with the next gust of wind. Thank you for watching!

Video captured & edited by Lady Hawk

I took several pics yesterday.
UQ spent several times practicing his big moment!

TRYING HARD  ;D

OVER AND OVER AGAIN  :-*

ALMOST  ;D

TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY!  :-*

BL ;D

KB, YAY Andrew is coming. I can't believe you're getting ready for fall. Summer has flown by.... Sadie doesn't like rabbits either. She was just barking at one on our property, as if they care! LOL!... thanks for info on Mississippi low tides.  :(

Tsk,  Family events from November thru February, birthdays, holidays, company and business parties, etc.... By the time it was February, the family was sick of each other. Considering too Mike worked with his older brother full time. LOL!

Phyl, great shames... Sadie ate pizza and breadsticks! My Sadie would do that too.  8) ... love the chicken poop eating dog shame! The chicken with a sign! LOL LOL :-*

Clynn, love your morning pics! ED has a Master's Degree in Procrastination! LOL! I'm glad you're enjoying the Royal Albatross and Katmai Brooks Falls Brown Bears, they are special to me. Eagle-Duck was wise to open our world to many other critters. He started my interesting in the Raptors/wild birds of US/UK/Africa/Philippines, Gray Seals of Germany, ... RRP forum members/Peeps introduced Royal Albatross, Puffins/Seals of Maine and Sloths of Costa Rica to us. It's a big world out there and there are many humans working hard to bring awareness of the needs of the Raptors, Wildlife and all God's creatures great and small. Just like you do with the Wild Heart Ranch and Sea Eagles. Speaking of Raptors, I've decided American Bald Eagles may not be as attached to their nests or mates as I thought many years ago. Look how many couple changes we've had. Also, look at Iris. I've yet to understand why Louis choose a new mate and yet won't leave Iris or the nest alone  :( . This "Same mate forever" is not as I once thought. So, I've had a hard time accepting the mate changes at NEFL, it's not even the same eagle bloodline, so I don't watch. Lord knows, I've never gotten over SWFL Ozzie's death, but with time I've came to accept M15 with Harriet. and now a new female :( . Lots to mull over there. No need for discussion, just sharing my thoughts with a friend as I walk through the forum. LOL!  ;) ... Oh I saw an interesting Blue Jay video this morning, I forgot to copy it. I'll look for it and post it. See ya!  ;D :-*

Hi Lisa, Jeff must enjoy being able to work at home those last two days of the working week and then it's days off till Monday!  ;D I like having Mike work in his home office too. Sadie spends hours sleeping on his couch or by his chair. They both nap together and eat popcorn during break time.  ;D

Eagles, I married into a Scorpio Midwestern family... a huge awakening for this Hawaiian! I rolled up my sleeves and knew it was going to be survival of the fittest!!!  ;D ;D ;D

I know that Katmai National Park - Brooks Falls is closed to hunting bears, it's a large area, and most of the BF bears hibernate in the National Park

Lani - thanks for confirming that UQ has only had one parent feeding him....
I actually hope he waits a bit as he's only 233 days old vs. 240 average...that's a whole week, but I'm not in charge!...LOL

No Andrew today....he did say today or tomorrow.....guess tomorrow!..which is fine actually as it's getting hot today, 85..

Lani, don't forget the osprey/eagle nests in Estonia! I remember watching Piret and Madis after Decorah fledged and while the Harmon incident was underway. I got the website from someone in the MN DNR chat. I remember the next year when Horst was so sad when the goshawk took Stephi from the nest (White-tailed Eagles). And Ivo and Irma's nest. Neither of them had ospreys this year, there had been a 2 year streak of murderous goshawks at Maarko & Miina's nest (formerly Piret/Madis's nest) and they went elsewhere...I really liked watching those nests. I check on them occasionally, and just saw this. An osprey was spotted near a site where Urmas was gathering fish. They were able to read the band and it is one of Marko & Miina's from 2021, the one that survived the goshawk attack.

And UQ gets fed again today! I didn't realize that one parent was missing! He will be ready soon! Good hovering! Otis is a professional fisher, he is just so casual about it! Love it! Wonder how he got that scar on his shoulder. well, we know he won...

tsk, is Tim planning to go fishing again? Maybe....  ;D

Sydney posted the Munchkin's school pictures!

E4E, yes, I miss the Munchkins! And I want to comb Bella's hair!

Lisa, I am with Jeff on the working early so as to miss the heavy traffic! I was going in early to miss the trafic and finally realized that I was mostly still working until 5:00. So I asked for a 4-day week, went in at 6:00, off at 4:30. Then I had Sacred Wednesday!

{{{Talon and Bella}}} absolutely adorable school pics!  :-*

Clynn, I've never forgotten about Estonia ospreys, never got over that too.... and when the Goshawk took Stephi, poor Horst, he had us all in tears  :'( ... that's great news that a banded 2021 osprey was found! Gorgeous osprey!  :-*  Banding is so important, I wish Decorah eagles were banded. I'm sure at least one of the new Decorah pair is one of Decorah mom and dad's! .. when I knew you want to comb her hair! Which is adorable by the way. She looks so much like her mom.  ;D

LANI   It has always been so amazing to me how these bears are tracked as I've said many times re: Lynn's program.  Good to know there are many folks who have this interest and enthusiasm.  I bet if you lived up there you would also be a bear tracker in one program or another  ;D
So happy to hear UQ got fed today.  That last picture of UQ is so cute - Pondering the life ahead of him.  :-*      There is that - too much family all at one tine LOLOL    Your ruminations are so true - we have learned so much about the eagle population.  Nice for a break to be introduced to some new critters.  Good grief - One could spend an entire day just on Explore.org  :o :o :o :o

CLYNN   He has an entire set of fishing equipment here PLUS  tons of it from Door county.  I think there are 4 fishing boxes full - about 9 rods and reels and a wall unit full of sundry stuff.  There are places to fish around here and he and his brother do that occasionally.  Take a lawn chair and cigar and have a fun few hours.   Sweet school pics.  Can really see Talon's freckles  ;D

Afternoon Beakers

Lani - Thanks for the info on Otis, and on UQ.  UQ will know when the time is right to go. I wish DE would band all the eaglets too.  I still think HM looks so much like Mom D, and is one of her kiddos.  Jeff does enjoy teleworking two days a week.  He turned it down when they first offered it, then kept getting stuck in traffic on Friday's and that changed his mind.

tsk - Yep, some of the problem solved.   :)

kb - Aww, no Andrew today, hope he shows up tomorrow.

clynn - Love the school pics of the munchkins, and even the messy hair look on Bella.  It is the style!

baz
- Waving to ya!
