Karen, UQ has been working hard today. He's practiced his hovering, there was one moment there as he headed out of sight down to the shore, I thought this might be it...and then the poor sweetie was making his long walk back up the hill to his nest. around 3:14pm New Zealand time, which was 45 minutes ago Central time, Albies starting flying about, UQ started calling to them and then he turned left and started running. One of his parents (I hope) flown in, and spent 10 minutes feeding and being with him. He's settled back on his nest with a full tummy.

We leave our hummingbird feeders up year round... I bring it in at night so it won't freeze.
