hi In “Nachalo”, Raymond “Red” Reddington (Spader) took Liz (Boone) to the home base of his spy operation in Latvia to give her answers about her past. Liz got a lot of them but she also inadvertently brought along Neville Townsend (Reg Rogers) who used the tracker he had put on her to follow the duo. Liz was shot in the exchange of fire, while Neville and his crew were killed when Red released a highly flammable gas after locking himself, Liz and Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) in an underground bunker.

“Konets” starts with the trio emerging from the bunker and Dembe using a fingerprint to confirm that Neville is dead. Liz’s wound is not life-threatening and she quickly recovers while Red’s attention focuses on the power struggle Neville’s death is about to unleash, with a slew of crime lords vying for his throne.

Red visits Harold (Harry Lennix) to hand him the files on the top contenders and to tell him that he is dying and wants to install Liz as his heir because he fears that, as a fugitive, she will be vulnerable and one of their enemies will eventually track her and her daughter Agnes down. Harold is on board, telling Red that he could get Liz immunity as his successor. When Dembe, after the meeting, contends that his medical tests have been showing improvement, Red dismisses his objections, saying that death is just taking a pause but is still inevitable.

Will Hart/NBC
Liz’s own plan for her and Agnes is to leave for Europe and disappear. She rejects Red’s idea for her to replace him which involves her executing him to show anyone that she is “a force to be reckoned with.”

In the meeting, Red also shows Liz a letter from her mother which promises to answer the biggest remaining questions: who is the the man who assumed Reddington’s identity, why did he enter Liz life, and why did her mother never reached out to her.

“It’s quite a story full of ambition and hope, love and loss,” Red teases but tells her that she will be able to read the letter “when the time was right,” to which Liz (rightfully) replies, “It’s long past time.” He arranges for her to receive the letter after his death.

Liz visits Harold and Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff), giving Boone nice final scenes with her two other fellow original cast members besides Spader. Harold is for the succession plan, Ressler is against. “You are not a criminal; pretending you are one is not going to keep you safe,” Ressler says.

Will Hart/NBC
Liz decides to stick with her original plan but a chance — or not — meeting with the grown-up daughter of General Daniel Ryker whom she saved in Season 1, makes her change her mind.

She and Red, joined by Dembe, Agnes and her nanny, have a stroll through Central Park where Red lays out the plan of how Liz will shoot him in front of his restaurant the next night so the deed is captured by CCTV cameras for the world — and its top criminals — to see.

“Me as your heir, why do they think they will accept it?,” Liz asks.

“You are a criminal,” Red says, which raises another question from Liz. “Is that what I am, or is that what I am because of you?”

Red doesn’t have a definitive answer whether him coming into her life led her to where she is now or whether she was predisposed to become an outlaw by birth but “what I do know is that, whether it’s chance or karma, DNA, faith, or just bad luck, this is who you are now, this is who you’ve become — a criminal, a fugitive — and taking my life is a way forward,” he says.

Liz gets another small clue about Red’s original presence in her life, with him confirming that he was there when the photo of her as a child with her mother was taken.

“Who was she to you?,” asks Liz.

“I knew her better than anyone,” Red replies.

Liz tries one more time, telling Red that she would kill him but “in exchange, you give me a straight answer why can’t I know who you are until after you are dead.”

Says Red, “Because if you knew who I am you would never agree to kill me.”

Will Hart/NBC
The night of the planned killing, Liz makes a sweet good-night call to her daughter, calls Aram (Amir Arison) to ask for forgiveness and parks at the restaurant to wait for Red who broke his strict security protocols by walking to the venue, which could’ve endangered him — and Liz.

As she aims at him, Liz ultimately cannot pull the trigger. “I can’t do it. And I don’t want to,” she says. But suddenly, there is a gunshot. Neville’s henchman Vandyke (Lukas Hassel) does not hesitate and shoots Liz, fulfilling Neville’s mission to make Reddington watch Liz die. Red does but not before killing Vandyke.

As Liz is drifting away, her life flashes before her eyes, bringing back Ryan Eggold’s Tom, with Liz eventually morphing into the image of her mother when she was her age. Red is cradling her, kissing her on her head and cheek, and hopefully whispering into her ear the answers she has been desperately seeking. As for the rest of us, we will have to wait until Season 9.

hi joho here is what you missed it was on at nine central so i think ten your time.. sorry for your loss yay season nine with red!  :)

Hi Cal! Wow, what an episode! With some of things Red said makes me think he really could be Katarina! I don't know if we will ever know the truth.  I liked Liz in this episode. Now we have to wonder what will happen to Agnes.  My sis  had to go back to the chiropractor 2 more times after she tripped over Hattie. She is still in pain. The Dr said she may have a herniated disc! She hopes not because she won't have Medicare until Oct! We had a quiet Father's Day here. Robin floated in the pool and then we ordered pizza. After we ate the skies got very black so Robin went home. She made it home just before a horrible  thunderstorm hit the area. We ended up with 4 inches of well needed rain! It's been very nice here the last couple days with low humidity and highs in the upper 70's. Once again we had lows in the 40's! Crazy mixed up weather!

Jo, Crow and Robin both ordered their mattresses from Amazon. I can't remember the brand but they came rolled up in a box. I don't like them because they are memory foam. But they both love them! And that's all that matters!

Action - UPDATE June 24, 2021
Bears are still pairing up, chasing competitors, and more.

Andrew and Marie
Andrew and Marie
As the sun was setting, 3-year-old Andrew (son of Vanna, grandson of Dot, great grandson of Blackheart, and great great grandson of Shadow) came on the scene following Lily’s 2-year-old daughter Marie. As they arrived they rose up and played, continued on with Andrew following and sometimes sniffing Marie when we thought the mating season was winding down. Happy bears happy to be together.

22-year-old RC provided a different kind of action by running off Spanky and earlier running off her 3-year-old daughter Chloe, mother of Charlie Brown and Lincoln. That made us think what a difference between RC’s temperament and what we saw with 14-year-old Braveheart coming on the scene some 5 years ago and finding her daughter Samantha here with Lucy, Ethel, Ricky, and Fred. Braveheart gave them a free pass by veering off into the woods and not coming in while Samantha was here. Mothers often let their daughters raise litters in the mothers’ territories.

Bear personalities vary so greatly that I can answer about any question with “Some will and some won’t.”

Thank you for all you do.

7:30  Liz is OK in my book.  See them all next year maybe. Lots of surprises.  Thanks Cal .  I needed that. LOL  Mattress was supposed to show up 7/1, but not so sure this morning.  QVC has changed some things.  I will need to call them again. Old mattress going to Shannon's house on Saturday.
Bears and babies all doing well this morning.  Heavy rain keeping TV babies huddled up in dark corner of their snug and dry loft.  Couple of squirrels on snow.  So now more coffee.  CUL

QVC says tommy copper mattress still on for 7/1.
Rained hard today, but slowed now.  temp still warm at 80.  Niece Susie coming to see me from NY by way of Cedar Point this evening.  She had rain there earlier, but just said rides are open again.  So will come a little later.  I will be so glad to see her and her son, Conner.
Bears and babies doing good today.  Racoon on table at Snow.  This one seems to like the daytime.  There is also a family now and then with three cubs.  Usually at night.
Not much pain today.  No rehab, but some at home exercises.  Pain at night still makes it hard to sleep.  In general though I am feeling better each day.  Thank You God
Gonna go look over all the cams for a while. The next couple hours are the day's highlights usually.
Pretty soon I will go to Berlin for lunch among the Amish.  I can do stairs and walk pretty good already.  Maybe another week or two will see enough improvement to walk there from store to store like we always did.  Then get some cheese, bakery, and yogurt or chocolate covered raisins and amble for home.  Snacking all the way.  There will be some cheeses for Debbie and some homemade bread for Mary as always.

I love the noodles and gravy they serve. The thick slabs of homemade bread with apple butter and honey butter is great. Also the mashed potatoes with kernel corn and the fruit pies with ice cream.  Not to mention for Cal's benefit the deep fryer reheated broasted chicken breasts.  All crispy and succulent.
Susie, Meghan, Conner, and Patrick just left with their two big calm dogs. We had a very good visit and shared many memories of what was and what could have been.  It was heart warming for me and Susie. KFC was great and we ate it all.
Debbie did not make it. She had to work, and did not want to leave Boss.
Lots of rain here and there lately.  The TV barn been rained on all day, but they are so snug they could care less. Bear chatters are planning trips to Ely.  Makes me a little jealous.  I will go there soon I think.
Well all that rain on TV cam is making me sleepy so I will sign off for now See you all tomorrow.

Good People, Good Bears - UPDATE June 25, 2021
Lincoln
Lincoln
Charlie Brown
Charlie Brown
Today, Team Forward arrived to help get ready for the Black Bear Field Courses. Three-year-old Chloe soon showed up with little Charlie Brown and Lincoln. They had never seen cubs that small before. A treat. Earlier, Chloe and cubs had appeared briefly, but when RC, Chloe’s mother, also appeared the family went up trees. Phoebe w/tuft of bear fur
Phoebe w/tuft of bear fur
The sun was right to reveal that Charlie Brown is losing his golden fur on his face and legs and growing in dark fur as the picture shows. I suspect he will be a bear that will bleach out and shed golden fur each year and then start over with very dark brown fur.

An Eastern Phoebe got fooled by a tuft of bear hair caught in a crevice. He or she attacked it like it was a bug several times and then flew off.

Thank you for all you do.
