Wow _ now I know it's really friggin cold everywhere, but you really don't ever see winter weather like this along the Gulf of Mexico coast or on top of the Denali.

Summited 1984.

The peeps there are just not equipped mechanically or physically to deal with weather like this !   :o

Stay toasty my friends ..   ;D

-EDIT- I got the labels on the snow forecast maps below reversed_it was PST time early and not enough Java.  ;)

kb Not to bad right now, but forecast gusts are expected to ramp up again over the next 48-72 hrs.

I do see the "chance of" -to- "showers likely" in the 7 day for around here so that's good.

Off to do some wildfire disaster not so fun stuff.   :(

CLYNN   Earthy tones this AM  :)    Celia and Phyllis   LOLOL   Cool info about the healthy bison.

PUFF   Good advice for any of us heading that way.   Thank you for sharing that story about Anna and Raul.  Simple gesture but much appreciated by you!  Glad to hear about this act of kindness.

PHYL   Never heard the word "apricity" before.  We have a lot of that today.  :)   Beautiful intricacies of the feathers. 365

LANI   Boy when you see it all spelled out like that, the rangers have a huge job to do.   Dehydration of the breeder was interesting.

KB     Funny - bet owner had a hand in that video  LOLOL

Once, in the  80’s  while living in Daphne, Al  we experienced a nice snowfall!   My  neighbor  bundled up and get the 3 kids across the street outside to build snowmen!  There was enough snow on the golf course that they built two very large snowmen, they remained intact for quite a while after most of the snow had melted, but what fun they had. My neighbor had lived in Indiana, and was quite familiar with snow, but the children were not, and they just absolutely loved it. No ice at that time so  accidents were at a minimum. This was a pretty, nice sbow !  Tgis current mess , Being referred to as a wintry mix is the kind of thing that knocks out power and breaks tree limbs, and does other kinds of nasty damage. Not looking forward to having more trees removed from my landscape of the hurricanes. The last two years  have done a really fancy job of cutting down our canopy.  BL I wish you would get more than a shower but not so much that it would cause landslides. We are really in a climate mess.

Good Afternoon Beakers

I hope all Beakers are staying warm.   :)
We finally reached 19° a bit ago.  The high for today was supposed to be 22°, doesn't look like that is going to happen.

tig - Oven-baked stew sounds delicious.  Hope Camper had a fun time with guys yesterday.

karen - Glad to hear that your new dryer was there early, and is all installed for you.  I hope you got your nap in.

tsk - Love that morning coffee design!

clynn - Wow, the bison pic...amazing!  I often wonder that about many animals that have to deal with the cold and snow.

kb - Did you make it above zero?

Puff - Very nice of the newspaper delivery guy/gal to get the paper closer for you.

Phyl - Thanks for the 365.

BL - My hubby tagged me in Facebook on that same exact pic!  ;D ;D

Lani - Thanks for the Royal update.  :)

Kb- I shall do that

BL- tks for update on the Santa Ana's and the like. I have some classmates in that area. You & your crew take care. Here's to the rain showers if they don't flood--they'll will be a blessing  🙏s

Lani--tks for the Royal Update; tks for the info on 'What we do and why' and other news

Tsk- I thought that word would be appropriate today.

Lisa- luv the contrast in your AM photo-spring tulips and snow

Tig- Brrr!

Well. I took a spill this AM to make it short---I got my feet wisted in the vacuum cleaner cord--too big hurry which put my balance off.
And down I went--first thought was my head and neck ( 3level ACDF C-3- C6 w/ plate). So I landed ony my r. knee and left elbow.
it's all tender and bruised and sensitive to pressure of use which has eased up as day progress and I take to me recliner w/ ice pack on and off.
The r. knee is another matter as it keeps swelling up and ice pack w/ gentle pressure helps tremendously and slowly the swelling has decreased.
Jim will do dinner, so after an ealy dinner I'll retreat to the recliner and continue with ice pack.
I do take the stairs : left foot on riser then right both feet are on the same step and repeat until I'm in upstairs hall
I think I'll see how it is in the AM and go from there.  If it all hurts like it did at first I'll see a doc. My knees are bad in the first place and this
impact isn't going to help I'm sure. i'm due an injection from Dr. Amanda martin (US women's Olympic doc) so I'll call tomorrow for a appt
explaining what happened. Maybe i won't have to wait too long to see her. Either way i'd rather see her than go hither and yonder from one doc to another.

Gonna call an early “ Good Evening Beakers'.. .SEDs  to all.

KAREN  So you just got a wintry mix and not the 1-2" forecasted?  Still a mess however.

LISA    OOOO.  Love those tulips in the middle of winter.  Noticed Trader Joes have their daffodils for sale.  LOL

PHYL   So sorry to hear about that fall.   Doing great with the ice but do you have an ACE wrap???   ( ICE-  ice compression elevation)  Sure hope it is just bruised  Ouch  (((PHYL)))

Worked on cleaning up the basement today since Bible study was cancelled - Free day.  Cut up boxes, purging yarn vases that accumulate etc

You made my addled mind remember another Yellowstone mention clynn[/b.

I mentioned you have full range of doing what you can - but there are the MUST rules....

Do not bother the bison.  They do have the right of way.  If there's even just a group of two on the dressed trails you turn your machine off and wait until they saunter away.  You will be penalized $$$ also.
They need no unwanted hassles.

Puff no truer words could be said.
I've "shut down" for a Rock ptarmigan for hours doing up her thing.
A fox nose pounding ice covered snow for a vole.
Glassed Grizzly Bears traversing talus slopes for moths with Mountain goats.

Is it not their Living Room we're all in ?

As a responsible operator of all sorts of Snow Machines on and off all sorts of snow would make ones head spin.
With these _ wow I'll never ever be here again with these conditions .. that still make my bones warm to the core since I was four.

Taught to me very well by my elders.
All things and critters In situ in the great outdoors in all of the seasons in their realm are afforded the greatest respect by me.
I might have to take one of you and eat you with way more reverence than than the hamburger from your grocery store.

All critters that inhabit their white world are to be utmost respected.

Besides if you're correctly there you are appropriately prepared and in the know.

You might just see some once in a life time amazing critter stuff.

The true winter mammals smelled us long before we saw them. You guys are too chewy.

A red tail light took my snowmobile once to the foot of some mountain in full purple mountain majesty at sunset well into the Full moon near Yellowstone NP one night we set off on wide snowshoes to get far enough.

It was just like pine tree tranquility perfect.

The very deep snow equalizing the terrain like a giant marshmallow.

The sugar snow was like made for the machine I was on.

The weather was no wind at 32° F with a Full Moon on and a groovy planet alignment.
