KAREN   When my Dad retired they had a second home built on 40 acres of "farm land" in Dodgeville.   They owned it for 25 yrs and sold to the neighbor - a child when they built it - who always said to them he'd buy it  LOL  They used it only in the summer but it was company galore during those times and a lot of work for them both too.  Mom loved to have people around - It had a valley on it we'd hike down to  - a beaver also enjoyed building a dam.   They also built a lot of hiking trails around the property and Dad built benches to rest on.

BAZI   It's hard to catch up.  I had a very busy day today so didn't catch any Olympics.  Hope I will get caught up in Prime time.
Those are really great pics.  LGN has a lot of hair now  ;D ;D

PHYL   Beautiful tiny cottage. ;)

Tim came home from errands and his garage door would not open with remote - He checked it out and the piece that pulls the chain completely broke - Not bad for 16 years of use.  Crossing my fingers for mine!  Lucky this company we've used several times before were able to send somebody out late this afternoon.  I sent him on his way with a steak sandwich with steaks I had grilled along with some dill pickle bratwurst - Will give us a couple meals.  Very interesting man from Turkey originally - He said he stays a young 55 yrs old cuz " I have a wife 20 years younger than I am"  LOLOL

Yup... Pool, water annuals, then tennis for hours. Then caught up on all the other sports and my other recordings. That meant postponing laundry until tomorrow. Lol.
I told Camper he was lucky I cooked dinner. Teehee.

Stormy tonight.

Our 25 year old  Carrier central AC outdoor condenser failed spectacularly.

Drats and doable drats and just on the cusp of our IV heat wave.

We're talking about very scary noises very quickly _ Huge pop _ Breakers clipped appropriately.

Look out window _ huge blue plume of 'smoke' wafting away from the unit .. Not Good ..

In skivvies outside with fire extinguisher _ No fire _ just a lot of condenser venting.

I also have enough HVAC heat danger knowledge to know just put the back up window unit in.

It just died too.

Plan number 3.

be here tomorrow.   LOL.

In the interim .

2 humans and a dog in their own hammocks _ I guess the flying squirrel was it.

Yep - reporting on yesterdays sighting - HD (?) back in tree again this morn.   ;D

Certainly do hope they keep an eye their territory.  I'll be hoping for any on sight reports from any members there while "closed for rehab".

Good Morning Beakers!

BL, wow, both A/C units dying on the same day! But you are lucky that the central unit gave you 25 years of cool air, most don't last that long! Go north for the day!

Lani, sweet good night pic! Hoping and praying that the fire stays away from Payson...

tsk, glad you were able to get the garage door fixed that quickly! 16 years is a good life. Ours was here when we bought this house in 1996, we had it repaired once and it's still going. We don't use it much though, never had a car in the garage. eBay storage that I am working on clearing out!  Did you ask the repair man if he knew of Walter Santi? All 3 cats here love to sit at the front door to the deck, it's about 6 ft from the Birdola, so lots of viewing of the birds, squirrels and chipmunks! It looks like they are watching a movie!

Phyl, love the tiny house, I love seeing the inside of them! Same feelings here for the wildlife in the path of the fires...

baz, love the pictures of the kids having a fun time! Lil' Punkin looks good, and that curly hair!

karen, Bella made herself an 'office' yesterday. Then she decorated the inside with various items she found around the house. Talon has a splint of sorts on his left arm. He fell on his scooter and has 2 buckle fractures. It will take about a month to totally heal.

Beautiful Birds with Unusual Adaptations

There are few birds in the world stranger and more enchanting than the birds-of-paradise. This spectacular family of birds includes 15 genera and approximately 42 species, and many are startlingly unique with unusual feather adaptations. Fluffy plumes, stiff wires, and plastic-like ornaments are just some of the display feathers of the birds-of-paradise. But why have they evolved this way, and how far has their specialization gone? Hear ornithologist Ed Scholes talk about feathers and the birds-of-paradise while watching the beautiful photography of Tim Laman in this film.

From the brightly colored, spiral-tailed Wilson's Bird-of-Paradise to the shapeshifting, iridescent-throated Vogelkop Lophorina, birds-of-paradise are fantastic examples of bird evolution, speciation, and adaptation. How do all those fancy feathers and dance moves help birds-of-paradise find their mates? How did these birds evolve to be so spectacular, and how have the choices of female birds played a role? Learn the answers to these questions and more with the Birds-of-Paradise Project.

Had a new hvac (heat pump) installed while I was in The home!  The  old one was beginning to show  some age  and  was using freon so I said  I did not wish to find out what life was like in South Georgia without ac!  Good luck BL!
Tsk, good job on the garage door!

Clynn, so Bella plans to work in an office!   Think big and be an attorney!    Poor Talon!    Love theSun Flowers!   Is Ed growing 🍅  this year?
Hyl, will readCornel later!  Dew point is 75 and humidity is 98%!   Need I say more?   Lisa, this is Jeffs kind of weather!
Later.  Will have to get a new cpap today!  Mine was dead when I got in bed last night!

Good Morning Beakers

tsk - Aww, Lulu and the chipmunk activity.  That sounded like a very nice piece of property your parents had in Dodgeville.  Oh no, on the garage door for Tim.  That is amazing you could get someone out so quickly.

karen - The heat and humidity is back for a few days here.  I am ready for Fall.  Jeff's kind of weather!  ;D

baz - Great pics from the beach of the Lil greats!

tig - Sounded like a very relaxing day for you yesterday.  What did you cook for dinner?

BL - We just replaced our condenser on our 21 yrs old system.  I am hoping it hangs on for a lil while longer.

Puff - I don't want to jinx it, but I love seeing HM & HD in the mornings.  I hope this is a good sign!

clynn - Great pics of cats, munchkins, Hellgate, and the beautiful pic of the Grand Teton National Park.  Another one to add to my list  :D

Phyl - Love the morning cup of sunshine.

kb, Lani and all - Morning  :D
