Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, that's why it's going to warm up again, you put your shorts away!  ;D I just looked at your forecast, it's a lot like ours, pretty nice, a great beginning for Fall!  Except we have 86 coming for tomorrow. One lone little hot day. I hope Mike had a good sleep after his traveling. Would he ask for a ride on the golf cart to get through the airport? Well, that is a funny way to sleep, talking about the Mama sloth! Is she resting on something or just hanging in midair, I can't tell!

E4E, we also had a Harvest Gold fridge, and later an Avocado Green one! They are probably still alive somewhere...

BL, thanks for the mature Crosby, Stills & Nash!  They are in my Top Ten, I could listen to their Greatest Hits album right now! Like Young with them too...  I think you enjoy getting turned around, just sayin'.  ;D

Puff, wow, you and tsk had a lot of rain, much needed I bet.

tsk, yes, youtube videos are much easier than reading a manual! youtube has saved a lot of paper! When I bought my camera there was no thick little manual, just a piece of paper with a link to the manual online.

Lisa, I can't imagine a 17-mile backup!  Not even with a pile-up of cars and trucks in an accident! LOLOL on your change to the phone setting at the table!

Phyl, your pizza, I have a picture of you in my head just pulling stuff out of the fridge and throwing it on the dough! It all comes out good, right?  ;D  Very interesting article on exercise, never have heard that before! And Pilates was actually a person!

baz, hope your team won!

CLynn Pizza Supreme is an actual pizza made and sold by everyone. The recipe I use comes from the Publix Deli 20 yrs ago. I just happen to have
the ingredients 'on hand' is all.  Luv the Wild Heart Ranch lemurs and those Sea Eagles chicks  :) Thanks.
Got a surprize last night...found Maggie all snuggled on the turned down bed. She cuddled and purred us
                   both to sleep.  :)

Lani, Mike should see Ezeeq for dinner while he is in Ohio!  Go see the nest!  Lol meant to tell sweet Maggie she sure doesnt look her age!

Lisa, got the picture of the roads , thank you!  Traffic is one of the hard things about living in a resorty, vacay kind of place! A haven for the people in dc!   Close and delightful!   How is Bandit?

Piper is still on occasional guard duty on the squirrels at the window.  She is keepingthem out of the house!

Good Morning Beakers

Phyl - I have been saying for 25 years, that I would love to live on the other side of the bridge.  Jeff says, we aren't moving till he retires.   ::)  Mmm, that pizza sounds delish!  Colorful cuppa this morning.

tsk - Always have to keep that phone handy, never know what you might miss.  ;D  Wow, 2"inches of rain, that is alot.

BL - I am glad all these storms are staying out in the Atlantic. Thanks for the tunes.

Puff - Yikes, you too with alot of rain.

karen - Margot and Nigel are the next storms, and that Margot did some crazy loops out there. Bandit is acting OK, still waiting on vet to return call.  I missed the call on Friday, but called Saturday and another vet was supposed to call back, never did.  I sent email yesterday asking for a call from someone or to have my vet call tomorrow on my cell, so I don't miss the call.

E4E - Thanks for kind words on Sydney.

tig - How nice on the gifted bottle of bubbly, and meeting up with your niece.  :D

Lani - Beach traffic is horrible here on the weekends, and doesn't end till mid-Oct.  It sounds just like your traffic.

clynn - Great morning greetings today.  Finally found the pic I was looking for the traffic pattern that they are testing out.  The areas marked with the yellow & pics are the exits that are closing on weekends, so beach traffic cannot enter RT 18 road with orange arrows, which is what we call the back road to the bridge.  If they get on that road at any point, they will have to drive all the way to the overpass right before the bridge make a u-turn and back track on the orange line and get back on Rt 50 and sit in the traffic that they got out of.

kb - Another beautiful Fall pic!

From yesterday RW
Otis sees a fish and runs! He had a great day of fishing and feasting!

Otis is feasting on his catch!  ;D

Excellent history of our beloved and oldest Brooks Brown Bear 480 Otis received the Lifetime Achievement Award during the Katmai Conservancy Celebration that was held on October 9, 2021. This is the video that was presented to honor the winner of such special and very well-deserved award.

Good morning Beakers!  ;D
Morning Lilbro, Blschue, Lori, Clynn, Tsk, Lisa, Karen, Oldguy, Puff, Eagles, Kb, Tig, Baz, Phyl, Peep, Jaspurr, Pink, Jilltosa, BL, Eburg, Weasel, Ezee, Bggolden, T40, ssrl, Maxie, Nrstooge, Omasawyer, Paulie, jicaji, LB, and All!

Eagles, yep, shorts are back out, but I'll put on jeans for working outside today. The mosquitos are out.

Tig, Heavenly birthday to your mom/dad. Enjoy your drive, happy photo taking  :)

Lisa, Your traffic is just like our 260 that goes in front of our gated community and traffic. You never went to go to town from noon to 6pm on a Sunday on 260W or come to Payson on a Friday 11am to 6pm. I hope you, Jeff and furry family have a great Monday.  ;D

Karen, Mike doesn't have time to see the nest. His morning starts at 5am and ends at 6pm. It's jam packed with meetings, working at the slurry plant and training people. {{{Piper}}} ;D

Clynn, It is really lovely weather here. I'm so glad we made it through another summer with our AC unit! It's at least 12 years old and so far no problems. In Scottsdale, we had constant repairs and replacements on our 3 AC units. Next spring we'll definitely get the unit checked out before the summer. I don't want to take chances for next summer, as it takes weeks to get repairs completed. That's what we've learned from other homeowners here. Mike would have to wait in line for a cart through the airport, and he likes to keep moving and get to his final destination... Keebler and Sea Eaglets  :-*

Phyl, Does your Bluebirds stay throughout fall? Pretty morning pic from the Flyaway.

Kb, Beautiful fall pic.... I've taken more pics of UQ than I did of Manaaki. LOL! I'm very anxious for UQ to succeed, he or she is trying so hard.... I'll post videos by Lady Hawk, she seems to be the only one keeping the Royal Albatross cam watchers updated. They've stopped their daily tweets.... Even though I've had the cam streaming in two rooms as I'm working, I loose sight of UQ. I didn't want Manaaki to fledge, and now all of UQ's young friends have fledged. I want UQ to follow them. His friends must be calling to him, because when a flock of them fly about, he calls and calls to them... His parents haven't shown up for 3 days or more. After 48 hours the rangers came by and gave him a feeding supplement yesterday.... Both of Manaaki's parents GLY dad/L mom have come by twice since Manaaki left to check and feed him. They now realize he's fledged. Yesterday Manaaki's dad took time to sit with UQ before he flew off.

UQ was lonely with everyone gone and hungry too. His parents haven't been seen for a few days. Manaaki's mom L comes to feed Manaaki, but he has fledged, she refuses to feed UQ.

Royal Albatross ~ Mum Lime Returns Two Times Looking For Manaaki 💗 UQ Comes Running Over 9.17.23 video by Lady Hawk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jyvqQBSAag&t=86s

Sep 16, 2023
Ranger Sharyn reported this morning that our sweet Prince Manaaki has fledged at 240 days old. UQ chick has been looking all day for his friends as one by one they have left and he is alone now on the track. First it was Miss Sassypants NTF - full of attitude and owning the hill. She was the first one to give UQ a clack & display! Then Miss Quarry chick - who was very close to UQ and spent most of her time sitting, talking and displaying to him! Now his albie bro Manaaki has left and joined his cohorts flying over the sea - leaving UQ all alone. ♥

Mama Lime arrives back to the nest and she does not know that Manaaki fledged. UQ chick sees a parent come in and rushes over wheeing & hoping for a meal. But Mama Lime is here for only Manaaki and she clacks at UQ. L goes to her nest and sniffs for Manaaki's scent. The nostrils of the albatross are highly sensitive and she is trying to determine if his scent is still fresh or not. Mama Lime waits for ten minutes for her sweet boy - she came back with perhaps another mother load of squid for him and wants to feed him but finally she flies off.

But L returns a half hour later and looks for Manaaki again. It is time to get those tissues out....she is really missing her baby. Mama Lime waits for him at the nest - she does not know where he is but her instincts told her to come back to the nest for him. She sniffs the nest again for Manaaki's scent. Bless her heart - a Mother's love knows no bounds, UQ is hopeful he can get a feeding too but realizes she is only here for Manaaki. (UQ chick had a good feeding this morning from the rangers)

Mama Lime will fly off in a beautiful departure over the sea. Maybe this time she will not look back, knowing her work has has been accomplished and it is time for her to fly back to South America to renew and rest. GLY does not know that Manaaki has fledged so he will probably return looking for him as well.

It is always a sad time to see a parent come in and not see their chick that they have been caring for 7.5 months suddenly not here! The parents will head across the Pacific Ocean to feed in the waters around South America now. GLY and L will live separate lives until they once again return to breed. They will not breed during the 2023/2024 season but with good fortune, they both will come back in October 2024 to breed again for the 2024/2025 season.

Farewell sweet Mama Lime - you have done an excellent job ♥ Godspeed and stay safe. Thank you for watching!

Royal Albatross ~ GLY dad Is BACK Looking & Waiting For Manaaki 💗 UQ Does More Amazing Hovering 9.18.23

Sep 17, 2023
UQ chick decides to do some wing exercises and hovering early this morning! He flaps his wings and then goes straight up in the air with his paddles hanging down lol wheeee! He is getting really good at these moves! He then spots a parent coming in and landing at Top Flat and he rushed over there wheeing hopeful for a feeding. It is our dear GLY who has come home after a long fishing trip at sea (nine days) to feed his Manaaki. But Manaaki had fledged and he missed out on both parents L and GLY coming in to give him one last feeding.

GLY clacks at UQ as he makes his way towards his nest to look and wait for Manaaki. GLY waited a long time in the grass hoping to see his big boy come paddling home wheeing like he has every single time. But there was silence at the empty nest...

GLY then goes towards UQ chick who begs a couple of times...GLY then turns around and goes back toward the nest - all the while looking for his chick before he departs. UQ chick will go up in some amazing hovering as he continues to practice his flying skills.

Now that both GLY and L (who came in two times yesterday) have seen that Manaaki is no longer here on the headland, they will head back to South America and take the next year off to renew their energy reserves, regain some weight and molt their feathers after having successfully raised their chick to fledging! His Royal Roundness will be a legacy for GLY and L and for all future generations to come! Good job  & Farewell GLY ♥ Thank you for watching!
