They  all are advertised  as including  bees and  bumble bees I don't mind  bumble bees at all.  Been leaning toward the very last one above as it specifies 'hornets'. Says it can eventually dehydrate them.  :o

Cool link OG I saved it ---you know we have a large creek just over the retention pond behind us. Since dragonflies lay eggs on/in water. I'm sure we'd have hatchlings at the very least. Since they migrate south as KB says, gosh we could have   :o.
Really enjoyed Miri's 3rd birthday.

Here is a solution that will attract and kill wasps and hornets, but not bees - a mixture of vinegar, sugar and salt.  Honey bees and bumble bees are not attracted to vinegar or salt.

Tsk, We're going to have to buy a wasp/hornet trap. A funny thing happened today. On our 2nd floor patio I moved a planter box to start my fall planting and a swarm of wasps came upon me. I have three bites, one on the top of my head, arm and back of leg. The one of my head is the most painful. I grabbed the bee and it dug in as I was trying to pull it out of my hair. Thankfully I had my gloves on. I put Sting Kill swabs on the bites immediately.  We found the wasp nest between a hole in the shingles. Mike bought wasp spray and sprayed the whole can down the hole. Bees were flying about and by 6pm they seemed to be still.... Walgreen's pharmacist suggested something more for the bite on my head. The head bite is more uncomfortable, the other two bites itches. It'll be fine.

Lisa, awww Sydney, you could just about swim in those beautiful eyes....

Baz, yep, gorgeous Etta wanted to sleep for Caturday.  ;D ... Jpalm was very special and kind man. Like our Horst... and Oldguy  ;D

Eagles,  Maybe when the restoration on the car is completed we can see a pic or two?  ;)  I hope your grandson and his team did well! I bet it was a lovely day as well for you and Kris, even though you both were at separate events.

Oldguy, Miri like a younger version of Maru, she was so cute with the toy bird... interesting video on the dragonfly. I never really thought about them before.

SED Phyl, thank you for more suggestions of wasp traps.... stunning sunset.

Tig, congratulations to your brother!  :)

Kb, sorry about the Vikings game.... I'll tell Mike about the MJ documentary. He may enjoy it.

Otis is back in his office doing the night shift at Brooks Falls :-*

Good night!

Another golden evening with Iris.
She is sitting on the top of the rear light all the way to the right.  Still eating her fish. #BeAnIris!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE ON THIS RAINY DAY IN CHICAGOLAND

OLDGUY  Pre-date dinosaurs.  New knowledge to me. :o   Cute review of Miri  ;D   The recipe I use has vinegar/sugar in it so think I'm good - Like I've said I never see bees in it.

TIG  Congrats to bro. What was it for -" best in show" ?    End of this month my bro is taking his 911 Porsche to a show...

LANI   I' m cringing just reading your description of that event.  You mention both bees and wasps in the same story?  I've never had a bite on my head before.  Hope today you are a bit better.

Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, goodness! Your poor head! I don't think I have ever had a hornet sting! But I do know the feeling of some flying bug getting caught in your hair! Eeek! Yes, there is something special about a guy who enjoys the company of a bunch of women in a chat room, jpalm, EagleDuck and oldguy - all a special kind of guy! If they say that is Iris on that light pole, I believe it!

Phyl, pretty sunset on the Flyway...

oldguy, wonderful video for Miri's third birthday!  She is learning from Maru! I cracked up when Maru came from the left side pushing the cart with the beer bon on his head!  What a cat!

E4E, hope your grandson had a good game and Kris had a good time at the car show!

baz, loved the pic of Etta just laying around like she was a cat with nothing to do! Glad you got to see some tennis!

tsk, yes, it's 9/11 again and we all think back to that day 22 years ago...

Phyl, my wrist is much, much better! Just a bit of a twinge if I move it a certain way. Lots of 9/11 memories...

Good Morning Beakers

The biggest news this morning is that Kilauea started erupting again last night - a large number of fountains across the drop step floor of the crater.
Live Kilauea Eruption   -   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0CE0A62TU4

We still have rain this morning - total of .64 since 6pm last night - moderate rain now with a few hours to go possible...  Forecast high of 67 for the day.

Further research on the home made wasp traps/killer shows that vinegar is an irritant to the wasps/hornets and is a repellant to bees.  The dish soap causes break down of the exoskeleton, leading to their death.  The sugar is the main attractant.  here is the basic proportions
Homemade Wasp Killer
▢ Dawn dish soap 1 part.
▢ Water 3 parts.
▢ ¼ cup Vinegar optional.

Our store started carrying a group of products by the company "Rescue"  -   https://www.rescue.com/products/traps/why-trap-for-wasps-hornets-yellowjackets/
These products are all listed as honey bee safe.
