Wow, the Minnesota Zoo's (Apple Valley, MN) tree top trail is literally shocking visitors.
Static electricity esp after touching trail's metal railings.

Morning all...not walking Ollie this morning as it's too hot and heading up to 93.

Instead I'll be giving him a bath out back on the deck....he'll love it.....NOT!

BL - Thank you - Joni is so absolutely wonderful - love her!

Baz - Hillary is looking to be a scary one . . . .

Phyl - Cute Caturday!

Puff - My height is from my Dad  ;)   My mom has 'shrunk' a couple of inches over the years and measures 4'11" now!  My Dad was 6'4".  I am 5'7".

Well, my cousin who lives in Jamul told me she lives on a hill as do her horses so she's not that worried. Also, Jamul is on the western flank of the mountains and I think they predict more flooding on that eastern flank.
Good to know...
I have lots of other cousins in and around San Diego, Irvine, Fallbrook, and Nevada....so this shall be interesting but none of them have horses or animals to worry about.

Whew, done with Ollie bath....as he was drying on the tar in front and tied up a weird younger woman walked by...she motioned him and kept saying no as he was doing an alert bark is all.
Frig you....he's on his own property doing what dogs do and I want him to do....clearly tied up without any aggression.
I never leave him outside anymore in front without my watching every second from inside the cooler couch and also have my camera.
People need to chill out....with all the barking Ollie and I experience walking around the neighborhood from dogs on their own property I would never even think to tell another dog to shush up..

E4E, I would love it if I could magically send you some tomatoes, Ed just brought in some more.  I need to cook some bacon today, we could eat BLTs every day! I try to keep the pre-cooked bacon on hand in case I don't have any cooked. Very handy!

tsk, bacon is a wonderful food!

Montana Osprey Cams - August 17 at 7:42 PM  ·
Hallelujah, it’s raining Males! Well, it seems so after the drought we’ve had the past few years at the nest. Who ended this “male drought?” There was Louis (of course), Lupine, unbanded males, and Blue-Banded males, including 3T. The nest has become a sort of Osprey Dating Game, with Iris in the middle and not wanting to choose any.
Let’s start at the beginning. That’s always a good place to start.
The first male to show up at Iris’s nest was, of course, Louis.  There have been some differences this year. Louis didn’t show up until 8 days after Iris arrived.  He also did not come as often to mate this year, with 7 days occurring between the eggs laid. Usually, it is 3 days between eggs for ospreys. The last time Louis came to mate was May 28th and Iris was not receptive. It would be two months before Louis showed up on cam again, on July 28th. We can definitely see their relationship is waning.
Iris had some females visit the nest, but the first male to visit the nest was on April 30th. Another male came on May 7th.
We didn’t have to wait long for another male to show up. On May 10th a male sporting a blue band flew over the nest at 10:44. He was originally identified as N6. But after reviewing the video, an antenna can be seen as Lupine flies away. Lupine left his summer home on the coast of Tabasco, MX around April 23rd. Lupine visited Iris three more times. He came on May 20, May 21, and on June 18th.
An unbanded male landed on the nest, then flew to the Owl Pole on May 10th at 9:09, and again at the nest at 12:34.
On May 12, we saw one at 9:28 at the nest, then he flew to the Owl Pole.
On May 16th at 10:46, another blue-banded male osprey thought he just might land on Iris’s nest, but she winged him off. The characters on the band were not identifiable. Iris also laid her second egg on this date. She certainly had her wings full.
On May 25th, Iris’s first potential suitor began what could be called the “Courtship of a Young Osprey.” (We believe this osprey may have been the  unbanded osprey that showed up on May 7th, May 10th and 12th.) He was certainly persistent, but unschooled in the ways of osprey courtship. He returned twice on May 30th. The courtship heated up on June 6th. He began visiting the nest regularly. Iris started bringing sticks to the nest and on June 9th Iris was receptive to mating, as she raised her tail when he mounted her, although no copulation occurred. Our excitement was short-lived because this male osprey was last seen on May 10th. Maybe he got cold feet. We believe he might have stopped by the nest on July 14th.
Things were quiet until Aug. 9th. A blue-banded osprey with the characters 3T visited Iris four times beginning at 07:00. The Osprey Project Team banded 3T in Missoula at the Tower Rd nest in 2019.
A different blue-banded male osprey lands on the nest the very next day, Aug. 10th. The characters were not readable.
An unbanded male landed on the nest on Aug. 15th. (maybe Louis)
3T returns to the nest acting as if he belonged on Aug 17th. He moved sticks while Iris chirped. He and Iris stayed on the nest together for 14 minutes until 3T flew.
This brings us up-to-date on all the episodes of The Courtship of Iris. Like any good drama, there is plenty of mystery of which we will never know the answer. Stayed tuned! There could be several episodes left in this season and there is always a cliffhanger in Hellgate Osprey Land. Enjoy and Cheers!  SharonLeigh for the Montana Osprey Project Team

Happy Caturday Beakers!
Morning Lilbro, Blschue, Lori, Clynn, Tsk, Lisa, Karen, Oldguy, Puff, Eagles, Kb, Tig, Baz, Phyl, Peep, Jaspurr, Pink, Jilltosa, BL, Eburg, Weasel, Ezee, Bggolden, T40, ssrl, Maxie, Nrstooge, Omasawyer, Paulie, jicaji, LB, and All!

{{{Clynn and Family}}}  :-* ... great pic of DH2... I've been holding my breath and saying prayers for Iris and 3T. He helped her with nesting duties the other day. I wish Louis would just stay away. But, he's shown up a few times to chase 3T off.

Eagles, we buy Costco bacon too. Mike's splits the packages in half and freezes in separate baggies. {{{your mom and sister}}}

Tsk, thinking about your friends.  :)

BL, love Joni  :)

Phyl, great Caturday shames

Kb, The Tree top trail would be great to walk, interesting about the static electricity. YAY Ollie! Sadie needs a bath, but she's always had one with Dewey by her side.
And I've never given her one here at home. She's very picky about things like that.

Lani - I feel ya....Ollie is not fond of water.

Since chris and I can't lift him up easily to put him in our large laundry tub we've had to improvise...and it's not the same....Nonetheless...I tie him up to a lead in back (no lifting)...lead is too long though....Carry 2, 5 gallon buckets filled half way outside with warm water, put a kneeling pad down while Chris stands by with treats. I use 2 smaller containers to dip into the larger buckets and do the best I can with baby shampool..It's much harder to get his chest and belly standing than it is in the laundry tub.

Good luck!

Tnx for updates on Iris...
I sprinkled trees n flowers last 2 days... trying to stay away from the project. Refreshed my bouquet and made a new batch of fruit popsicles. Cantaloupe, watermelon and BLTs are on the menu in the next days.

EAGLES  Don't have a lot of freezer room but I buy a pound and cut it crossways into thirds and use freezer paper to freeze each third.  That way I only take out what I need.

KB   People are people.  We know the dog won't quiet but she didn't.... ::) ::)  She probably didn't want anyone to know she was the cause of it.

CLYNN   Benny and Sue must be visiting Decorah.   Saw that raining males article yesterday - Glad you posted it.  When it rains it pours for Iris.

LANI   Enjoying the "cool cats"  ;D

T40   2nd one very funny.   LOLOL  "the butcher knife of paralysis"  Amazing.( Tony Baker)      Harpy chick - Can't tell a book by its cover  LOL
Husky puppy really had me laughing.

TIG   Had BLT's and cantaloupe for lunch today   ;D

LISA   Any new pics of Sydney?

PHYL  so far not having to set up the stand - Lunch with friends on Monday and Bible study on Tues will get rid of a lot of them. ;)
