T40  The very beginning of the maiden fishing dive got left off?  One of the cam ops was following her flight - and I watched.  Always like to see the smooth, quiet, power float through the air.  And I could feel the anticipation going through DH2 because it was going through me.  That's why I quoted "You Can Do It".  She heard me - from far up over the tree line by N2 she took a straight fast dive.  Splashed into the pond - didn't see her prize right away, but knew it was good sized.  Dragged it over to the land, took a break, and then is when you have the pic of her dragging it up into the mowed clearing.  Whew, that was hard work for her and me.

Now I was thinking - does she know how to peel it open for breakfast.  She better hurry or someone is going to steal it right of her talons.  Long, exciting, early morning.   But we  got through it.  You Did It!!!!

Just checked out other early posts.  Maybe time to check the replay.

Turned on PC about 5:30 - part of the routine that I note the time because of a pill I take and have to wait an hour to eat (banana).  Took pill and started following the soaring being sent out.  Soaring tape may have been viewed starting even before 6A and then she takes the dive.  Next would be Phyl's captures of her in the water and then her pulling it up and out of the water.

I include the times because the beginning could be caught on rewind.   ;D
Only about 10 1/2 hours ago.  I'm going to try that.  I'll check my details and times for accuracy.

Puff, on rewind with camera still in black & white, two eagles seen flying around and over the pond, but I didn't see any diving or splashing into the water as if catching a fish.  Too early?  Doesn't matter.  First fish "catch" was a milestone for DH2; now the location of fish in water is established.

Mid-afternoon, a juvenile BE was on top of the Pond bluff for quite a while.  Some time spent trying to preen out a couple long white wing feathers. Was it DH2?  Probably.  Also some quality time on the Y, preening, calling, looking very gorgeous.

Thanks StL  I am up early but not necessarily at full function.  But, knowing we have 12 hours to work is out is helpful.  So many  someones usually does it for us.   :-*

Was there any capture of the eating of the fish?

Hey Puff, I'm the same -- up early but not really functioning on all cylinders until about noon!

This morning, a real fish dropped off at N1, I'm guessing by HD.  There's wonderful rewind/video of DH2 chasing the parent all over the area before.  After DH2 took off from the right-most Hatchery pine tree, the fun started.

Lisa, you post the best pics, and I often have tiny versions of the same views, so please keep doing what you are doing!

About 3:00 this afternoon, HM brought a small raccoon pelt to the nest.  DH2 claimed it of course, but there's not much meat and lots of fur.

T40 that's a great video of DH2 perched on top of the cell phone tower.

The video was taken from Genghis Kham on top of the Fish Hatchery Pavilion.

That cell tower is about 2,755 feet away from the camera.
That's more than half of a Mile away.

The slab of that tower is at about 1,090 feet elev.
+ Add about 120 feet of tower to it.
1,210 feet elev _

The slab of the Pavilion is at about 890 feet elev.
+ Add about 30 feet up to Genghis Kham's eye view.
920 feet elev _

So lets just say for S&N Giggles sake the camera is at 920 feet elev and the top of the tower is at an elev of 1,210 feet.

Minus 20 feet off of the towers top.

Now I'm going to employ and interpret some back of the napkin BE camera math here.

Camera view More than half a mile away.   :)

I think back not too long ago to a barn and the Y
U. S. A.
