The RWBB is relentless, for sure.  I wonder, did a bald eagle ever go after a RWBB or its nestlings as a food source??    :o

Somehow I do believe that DH2 and that RWB have become comforting to each other in someway.

Becoming semi copacetic as it where symbiotic. 

We do Squee together in our 1st year together.

I'd eat you like a songbird McNugget if I was fast enough.

Don't harass HM & HD like you do I.

Angel, seems to me the same. I wonder if it is a juvenile that thinks the larger bird is its parent. Seems odd, but it did cross my mind.

RWBBs do not act like hooligan harrassers to their parents.  Blackbirds of all sorts, sometimes bluejays and other small birds also chase crows and hawks.  Crow and hawk experts might have more info on the reasons why.  Maybe info at AllAboutBirds.com.  Or a good question to ask at ATF.

Quick fish drop by HD this morning about 6:30 AM.

No RWBBs mobbing the eagles so far today on the rewind.  Could they be over the need to protect by harrassing?  Or maybe later in the day.

There's great video of one of the adult BEs swooping over the Pond around 6:00 this morning.  No successful catches, but the swooping is fun to watch on the rewind.

DH2 has been in the N1 branches and on the nest early, then out to the upstream area for perching.

T40, thanks for the multiple videos of DH2 and friends!

DH2 spent some time on a branch above N1 this afternoon. Finally flew off, so the RWBB must be feeling like the winner this time!

That RWBB is really cheeky this morning, sitting on DH2's back and pecking away!
Fish delivered to N1, about 5:00 AM, by HD.  Quick grab and DH2 ate the whole thing.
HM brought another fish, large and partly eaten, about 6:15.  DH2 ate part of it then flew to the Y and away upstream when the RWBB got too feisty.
About 8:00, HD spent a while cleaning up nestovers on N1 before flying away upstream.

Closeups of DH2, and probably HD grooming on a dead branch upstream, about 8:30 AM.  That one could also be a sub-adult.

Second day in Decorah didn’t disappoint….these are a few pics that I took with my cell, so some are far away.  I have to wait to upload my camera pics when I get home.
Trout Run Creek W of N1 really low, Rainbow trout in big pool at hatchery, cows at farm W of N1, and Doe and fawn under N2B
