Morning morning activity - Around 9am sub-adult above the cams, HM & HD a couple hours later on T1  vocalizing, and HM heading Y and sub-adult heading upstream to the right

The sub-adults are more numerous during egg-laying season this year than I remember from previous years, both here at Decorah and at the North Nest.  Increased eagle numbers is a good thing, but can be disturbing to the nesting pairs, as we see at DNN.  Here, with two eggs, the Hatchery pair seems to be carrying on as expected even though they are a new pair to us watchers.

 Pics from this afternoon.  Is that eagle perched in the pine tree HM, or a sub-adult?

Makes us ponder where the DH's may roam ..

HD paid a visit to N2B this morning, got a stick and went up to skywalk.  It looked like half the stick broke, but was fiddling with the other half, that he left on skywalk.

Lisa, wrangling big sticks with a wonky foot is difficult at best!  About 9AM, HD returned to N1 with a sizeable stick. I figured it was the half-stick from N2B, but perhaps not.  Was the N1 stick a different one from the N2B attempt?

This is one persistent male eagle, and good for him.

STL, I am not sure about the stick, but I thought the talon that was injured was on the right, not the left.  I will have to go back and look at RRP's post about the toe/talon, and see what foot it was on.

Lisa, beautiful pics this morning!  Looks like competition is beginning for N2B, as a source of materials for the eagles, and as a nesting site for the geese.  Happy action viewing for all of us.   

HM thought that big fish was for her, but no such luck.  She flew to the Y to claim it, but HD took off and ate it on one of the large branches overlooking a field or the pasture.

I thought that might have been a breakfish gift for HM, but nope, off he went and ate it all. 

She has not had a break since yesterday evening as far as I can tell, so hope he comes back soon!
