Lisa, thanks for early morning pics from N1.  I'm slow to catch up today.  No mating on camera so far today.  HM shows interest, but not HD.  Maybe the rabbit he brought to the nest will energize him.  HM doesn't seem interested in the rabbit.  Yet.

Earlier this morning, there were 2 geese sitting on a bluff ledge up the creek from N1. [ no pic ] Somebody should place a dome over N2B until their nesting season is over.  I just don't like the idea of the babies having to jump so far to the creek.

Great pics, STL

Nice morning pics from Lisa.  HM with the sunrise color in the branches behind her is a postcard shot, for sure.  I missed the copulation in the far tree earlier.  They seem to have figured it all out!

As I checked in this afternoon, HD was eating nestovers on the nest, and HM took a larger chunk of carcass up to the Y.  Catch it on the rewind about 1:00.

A few pics from yesterday afternoon - HD in nest, HD eating on carcass in creek - HM had just finished, and visitors in the creek came to dine on carcass

HM & HD came to the nest around 1:19am.  HD ended up staying in nest, while HM was on Y.  Both worked on nest, before HM flew out this morning, and came back with a big branch.

I hope HD has realized that when HM shakes her tail feathers at him, it's time for him to do his manly duty. Has she tapped him with her foot yet?

I have a rather strange question. I've noticed something both here and at the SWFL eagle cam (poor Harriet!). Eagles tend to eat the eyes of the fish or rabbit first. Is there a plausible explanation for this?

Interesting, this morning, sub-adult eating on whatever the eagles were eating at the creek yesterday.  Fish or something mammalian?

Looking at video from the chat for Decorah, the bird eating at the creek this morning is a Red-Tailed Hawk and not a sub-adult BE.  Which is correct?

All the grief and trauma of Dad's loss has hit me hard with Harriet's disappearance.   :'( :'( :'(  I know I'm not the only one.

STL - This bird? If so, Red-Tailed Hawk
