Ginger, thanks for the additional detail of goings-on at the North nest!

Here are a few from this morning.  First pic of heavy fog or mist this spring that I recall.

DNF and Mr. North went fishing early this morning.  Here's a video I recorded.  It opens with DNF on the streambank.  Mr. North has caught a fish a little further downstream and DNF moves closer to him.  He takes his fish to the Scary Tree and DNF flies to Yonder Branch.  She soon takes off and lands above Mr.  (Cam doesn't show her arrival and she's partially hidden by a branch, but we can hear her cries.)  Mr. takes off and lands on the nest with DNF in hot pursuit.  DNF says:  "Your Fish is My Fish."

Ginger, thanks for the fishing story and the great pics at the North nest on Monday.

Blog - Monday's news notes from Amy state that the grackles are probably incubating eggs in the basement nest.  Woo-Hoo!

STL -- You're welcome!  Yesterday was filled with activity.  Most notable was a fox sighting at 6:17 p.m.  DNF went to the Brush Pile and pulled out some old dead furry thing.  While she was eating a fox suddenly appeared and she immediately flew off.  Here's a video:

Ginger, love the video of DNF and the fox.  That fox had long, black legs, taller than I think of foxes.  Must look up species that live in Iowa.

Mom Grackle is sticking tight to the basement nest.  Eggs take about 2 weeks to hatch, so not too long to wait.  The female does all the incubating, then both parents feed the hatchlings, according to my bird book.

DNF, I'm pretty sure, spent the morning in the Scary Tree.  Cam ops can give us a pretty closeup view with the great equipment from RRP.

Morning pics of the Norths near the creek and later fish for DNF on the nest.  I'm needing help with at least one tree identification -- Point Tree? No, the Spit Tree. Now that the trees are leafing out, it's going to be more of a challenge to see the birds.  Go cam ops!!

Here are fish in the nest pics, from about 11:00 to noon.  Grackles are griping as usual.

STL -- The arrow in your second pic from yesterday points to the Spit Tree.  It's the tree on the other side of the Spit.  One way to recognize it is by its horizontal branching.

Ginger, thanks for the Spit Tree ID.  I fixed the post to match correctly.
