Ursula and Three Cubs Again - UPDATE July 31, 2024

Ursula
Ursulas cubs
Ursulas cubs

Ursulas male cub
Ursulas male cub
Ursula is giving us more opportunities to determine the sexes of her cubs, but the cubs are mostly behind the feeder or up a tree only half seen. But then, in a sighting this morning, one of her cubs was good to stand up next to a tree and say he is a male. Two to go. We don’t see Ursula a lot, probably because she likely lives ten or so miles west of here. But the food scarcity so far this summer has brought her in more often than in previous years. However, now, hazelnuts, pin cherries, and raspberries look like they are in the works, which may have her feeding closer to her home territory. I hope we can get the sexes for the record before she doesn’t feel the need to travel so far for a meal.

On that note, we’re glad she knows of the food here and is coming to this safe place. She is a favorite.

On the pontoon ride yesterday, a loon in water reflecting pretty green forest not only showed us the pretty water but a good look at her spread wings and checkered pattern. Participants in the Black Bear Field Study Courses are not always from areas with loons, so we’re always glad to see them.

Thank you for all you do,

5:35 78 and sunny.  Lawn sprinklers are running this morning.  Not sure why.  I told my neighbor Rich he could adjust my sprinklers all he wants.  He said he is good at it.  I am not at all comfortable with them.  I think they run way too long.  It takes three hours to go through a complete cycle.  My water bill is getting pretty high, but I see my grass is much greener than anyone else's.  I did go see Karen for dinner and Olympics last night.  We enjoyed a healthy vegan casserole and salad with wine for dinner. Then binged on soda crackers and spinach dip while watching a lot of Olympic action.  I especially liked Ledecky's performance and her many records in the 1500 meter swim. That is almost a mile in just 15 minutes, and includes 30 turns.   Wow! She is remarkable.  What an athlete. I won't see Karen to day.   I need to be sure to get Debbie and Patty from the airport at about 1 am.  Patty likes to travel at night Deb said.  Deb does not.  She likes the traveling part of her vacations, and can't enjoy it as much in the dark.  She likes to say the happiest times for her is when she is in the car on her way to the airport heading out for some place or other.  I often get to share these times with her.
Good you got those hoofs trimmed. The farrier seems to lack good judgement.  Who doesn't listen to the owner of big strong animals?  The one with the bruises is who.

Hi Cal, Oh the cats are in your downstairs at your house so that's why the stairs. Yes be careful using them. Be very careful with the dizziness. ra saying her doctor said allergies could be a cause makes sense and if congested too.

Sounds very hot there. Same for my area. We're in another heat wave of mid 90s for days now. Need rain.

We're feeling about the same for now. Definitely better than at first but still lots of congestion, cough and fatigue. Hoping it's gone very soon.

You take care and stay cool.

hi you guys its 69 i watched the news and seeing our people freed and heading home was overwhelming yay to you president biden retiring with a huge bang  and of course trump had to blow his horn when i saw that i wondered who on earth would be not super happy about this well

Former President Trump demanded more details surrounding the massive prisoner swap Thursday that freed Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan from Russian custody.

Trump responded to the news by touting his own record of prisoner swaps in a post on Truth Social, while also questioning whether the U.S. gave cash in exchange for the once-detained Americans.

“So when are they going to release the details of the prisoner swap with Russia? How many people do we get versus them? Are we also paying them cash? Are they giving us cash (Please withdraw that question, because I’m sure the answer is NO)?” the former president asked in his post.

“Are we releasing murderers, killers, or thugs? Just curious because we never make good deals, at anything, but especially hostage swaps,” Trump added.

The former president continued, saying that giving an opposing country cash is a “bad precedent for the future.”

“They are extorting the United States of America. They’re calling the trade ‘complex’ – That’s so nobody can figure out how bad it is!” he wrote.

5 things to know about the major US-Russia prisoner swap
National security adviser Jake Sullivan pushed back on that notion in the White House briefing Thursday, saying no money was exchanged and no sanctions were loosened as part of the deal.

President Biden revealed Thursday that Gershkovich and Whelan, alongside Alsu Kurmasheva and Vladimir Kara-Murza, were released as part of the largest prisoner swap with Russia since the Cold War. Five Germans and seven Russian citizens who were being held as political prisoners were also freed.

Trump has frequently criticized Biden over the detention of Americans in Russia and predicted that the president would not be able to secure the release of Gershkovich, who was detained in Russia for more than a year.

A reporter asked Biden on Thursday about Trump’s suggestion that he would have brought the detainees home without giving anything in exchange.

“Why didn’t he do it when he was president?” Biden replied.

5:37 What a beautiful bull.  Looks so friendly. I wonder if he is?
Did a lot of Olympic viewing again yesterday.  I did do a little good by bringing Debbie and Patty home from the airport late at night.  They were about an hour late getting into Cleveland.  I looked at the Google site and was told the flight was "on time" and even a little early.  LOL they called 12: 26 early for the expected 12:44 ETA. Now that's funny.  Anything after 12 am is not early to me.  It is way late. Anyway due to the "early" report I was at the door at 12:20.  They came out the door at about 1:40.  I got to bed at about 4 am, and slept until 9am.  So I am about normal now.  Except for very watery eyes.  I wish I knew why my eyes are so watery lately. I am afraid something real is wrong with them.
My eye doctor clerk says I have "dry eye", and I have been using drops she told me the doctor would usually tell me to use.  I am not pleased that the secretary is prescribing my treatment.  Based on what she heard the doctor tell others. WTH!  Plus they probably billed Medicare for a phone consult.  They do this for My Chart Mgs too. The Cleveland Clinic is not all that it is thought to be.
Well second coffee is cooling.  So CUL EV1 GBU, Israel, and Ukraine..

Dry eye disease is a common condition that occurs when your tears aren't able to provide adequate lubrication for your eyes. Tears can be inadequate and unstable for many reasons. For example, dry eyes may occur if you don't produce enough tears or if you produce poor-quality tears. This tear instability leads to inflammation and damage of the eye's surface.

Dry eyes feel uncomfortable. If you have dry eyes, your eyes may sting or burn. You may experience dry eyes in certain situations, such as on an airplane, in an air-conditioned room, while riding a bike or after looking at a computer screen for a few hours.

Treatments for dry eyes may make you more comfortable. These treatments can include lifestyle changes and eye drops. You'll likely need to take these measures indefinitely to control the symptoms of dry eyes.

Thanks Cal. I don't have most of those symptoms.  Thank God.  Just too much watery eyes.  Lots of tears almost all the time. No real discomfort.  I know my glasses are not right for me, but I am reluctant to spend the time and money getting more glasses that probably will not work anyway.  I have two prescriptions a year apart that I never filled.  I still wear my several years old glasses for the sun protection they offer.  It seems my eyes water a little less when I wear the old glasses for a large part of the day.  This may just be my imagination though.
I will bring it to my Primary Care Doctor next Friday.  Maybe he will order some kind of test, or at least tell my eye doctor to see me sooner than next December.  She is usually very good to me, but lately seems too busy.  All the Clinic Doctors are over loaded.  My foot doctor had to cancel , and the fisrt next available date was three months away.  My nails will be ruin all my socks by that time. LOL

5;12  YAY Happy Sat. Morning EV1.  Quite a bit of rain most of yesterday.  Grass is really greening up nicely.  Did not see Karen. or anyone else yesterday.  Saw lots of Olympics though, and went to Walmart for fresh veggies.
I made some tater salad to use up some potatoes.  It came out pretty good.  I will be eating a lot each day, because I don't think it will freeze well.  I will Google that.
First I will go get started with pills and BG and COFFEE!
Bye CUL EV1. GBU Israel, Ukraine and all who are suffering.
