6:20 I did like this image.  Made my mouth water, and my heart ache for the old times. L loved brats brats on a bun with lots of French's mustard.  Yummm! Maybe I better get some cereal and coffee.
 I am with Alice on puzzle love and gratitude.  Also how are the critters getting on these days.  Any recent pics of the "unruly one" and/or other critters?
Best update in years too! Go Doc. Go bears!  Hunters go to the market.  I hear you are sure to find some protein there. LOL
Mary says if I don't like how things are going I should find others.  I think I will start tonight by going to hear the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra at Blossom Music Festival.  This will be a new experience in at least three ways for me since I have never been there or heard them in concert.  Also, I will have a new hostess.  It is a costly outing, but I think it will be worth it. Trip starts at five, the dinner hour, and there is no dinner plan included.  So we are winging it.  Venue rules preclude any opaque containers.  So we are at a loss what to do.  I told her it will be ok no matter what.  Everyone will be hungry.  We will watch and learn.
Now I am on about food again.  Got to go get some. It is almost 9am.  I am three hours late for breakfast.

hi you guys its 68 here 50 in ice 73 in kviv  i saw on the world news 2:30 am and googled it now

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, saying the ministry needs "new approaches" as the war with Russia enters its 19th month.

"This week, parliament will be asked to make a personnel decision. ... I have decided to replace the minister of defense of Ukraine. Oleksii Reznikov has gone through more than 550 days of full-scale war," the Ukrainian leader said.
Zelensky nominated Rustem Umerov, the former people's deputy of Ukraine, to become the new defense minister.

"The Verkhovna Rada (legislature) of Ukraine knows this person well, and Mr. Umerov does not need any additional introductions," Zelensky said. "I expect parliament to support this candidate."

Key context: Reznikov's removal comes in the wake of a number of corruption scandals involving Ukraine's Ministry of Defense. While Reznikov has not been implicated in any of them, the scandals have still been seen to damage him by association.

Zelensky has said rooting out corruption across Ukraine's government is vital to Kyiv's chances of attaining long-awaited membership in NATO and the European Union.

The Ukrainian president made cracking down on internal scandals a central issue in his campaign for office.

On Saturday, one of Ukraine's most powerful oligarchs and a key Zelensky supporter, Ihor Kolomoisky, was arrested as part of a fraud investigation

i hope ukraine gets in the eu and nato

I think I am the average.  I deleted the puzzle after doing it and did not look at my time.  It is early and I was slow.  So I think the time shown as avg. is my time. 7:13.  Let's see you beat that! LOL
Thanks Cal for critter update.  Mary is very understanding.  She said I should keep her as is and find others if I want. I will.  She is a keeper.  There is just too much competition from her neighbor for her time and attention.  I am losing out five out of every seven days. This week I got turned down three nights in a row. Even waiting until well after dark is no longer working, because she is worn out when the sun goes down.  Too bad she did not stop in on our chat here more often.  I am sure she would have a better perspective how I feel.  I heard yesterday that others have noticed the same thing about her neighbor.  I am sunk.  So I will do as she instructed and look elsewhere for company.  Too bad.  She is great company.
Cal, I texted a lot of pictures of Bear trip.  Did you get them? I would like to send more, but I have lost your area code somehow.  My number is 440 662 3199.   If you text me I can get your number.
Mary is waking up.  CUL EV1 GBU and GB Ukraine

I did get to concert with Karen.  It was great!!!!! Just a wonderful experience.  A first for me, but Karen was employed there some time ago and was familiar.  Debbie was there long ago too, and said what I saw was a great improvement over the way things were for her.  We had all paved trails and trams.  Deb said she had only mud paths and grass fields for parking.  Also pavilion was new to her.  Hillside grassy areas with blankets were the norm for her time. Maybe I will take her again some time next year.  She likes music and will have some good memories.
Just sent lots of bear course pics Cal.  Forward to neva and others like Ra and Rues if you can.  I think they would like to see them too.  My favorite is me, in my black T-shirt, feeding a 325 lb. male black bear out of my hand on the porch bench.
Now I must get ready to go to the fair in Burton Ohio. CUL EV1 GBU and GB Ukraine.

All is Well - UPDATE September 4, 2023

Rocky
Another day over and still no shots heard although we wouldn’t hear a bow hunter.

This morning, Lorie got a nice picture of RC’s lone male cub, now named Rocky, at the base of his favorite tree. RC is the eleventh clan bear mother to be seen with cubs this year. Jim yearling male - 2011 by L. KennedyLorie took the picture with her cell phone from far away, which is the best she could do with this shy cub, but it turned out good anyway. One of Lorie’s specialties is getting pictures of as many bears as possible for the record, which is paying off now as bears show up that haven’t been seen for years. For example, RC’s cub Jim, born in 2010, was last seen as a yearling in 2011. A couple days ago he reappeared after 12 years, and Lorie had this picture of him as a yearling to positively identify him with his plain face that is unusually dark with no eyebrow patches. He knew who we were, too, eating out of her hand as if he was a yearling. We’ve heard what they say about elephants and are now thinking it is bears that never forget.

The eleven clan mothers with cubs this year are:

RC (24) one male named Rocky

Donna (23) with 3 unnamed males;

Summer (14) with 3 unknown sex;

Lucy (7) with 3 females named Lea, Lilo, and Leilani;

Sallyann (5) with 2 female cubs named Gigi and Greta and a cub of unknown sex that disappeared early;

JM (5) with a lone cub of unknown sex;

Olive ((4) with a male and a female both unnamed;

Kaiya (4) with 2 cubs of unknown sex;

Arly (4) with 2 cubs of unknown sex;

Andrea (3) with a male named Snowball and 2 females names Twinkie and Cupcake;

Ivy (3) with 2 unnamed females and 1 unnamed male.

Most of these mothers showed up late because of the good berry crop and the cubs are still shy. Everyone is trying hard to learn the sexes and think of names with the cubs mostly up in trees where it is hard to determine sexes.

Meanwhile, at the Bear Center, the bears are blissfully enjoying their tubs and food without a thought about the time of year. Sharon shows seven nice picture of Lucky, Holly, and Tasha here https://bear.org/bear-news-september-2-2023/

Thank you for all you do.

6:03 Looks like Peninsula Ohio.  Where they have a scenic railway in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Cal try to forward each text to someone with a better cell phone maybe.  If you text me some numbers I will get Debbie to forward with her wonderphone that knows EVERYTHING!.  Worth a try.  I can barely make them out too on my little flipper.  I can see the dens and some of the bears, and Doc at the table with all us "coursers".
Debbie and I had a great time at the fair.  Her three "busy" children finally sent her some Holiday greetings when we were on our way home in the evening after I had already heard about her ungrateful kids one more time. LOL.  Mary had a long day with her son and his extended family.  Karen also spent most of her day reaching out to her children who are really spread out over the world.
From the fair I sent pics to several people including my cousin Ken who lives close to Burton where the fair was.  He goes instead to Crawford County PA. he said.
I went back over several days of chat and find that Cal has summarized a lot of what has been going on with me.  I think it sounds like I am a real whiner.  Whining all the time.  No more of that.  You can see I am doing as Mary says, and reaching out to others. Karen.
Feels good to be able to be honest with everyone.  Thanks to Mary and Karen.
Well enough soap opera for this morning.  I need to go at 9am to sign us up for a nice Vermilion River boat tour. It is almost 9 and I am not dressed yet.
What a handsome, very black, black bear Jim is.  Thanks for all those bear pics and baby list too in the update. Hooray no shooting again.

hi joho well oh no this just in Another Kansas City Chiefs star could be questionable for Thursday night's season opener against the Detroit Lions.
On Tuesday, head coach Andy Reid told reporters that tight end Travis Kelce hyperextended his knee in practice.
"So we'll see how he does going forward," Reid said. "They're looking at it now. We'll just see how it goes."
Kelce, who hasn't missed a game due to injury since 2013, absent for any period of time would be massive for the Super Bowl champs.

no chris jones maybe no kelce! no kelce oh big fat no! i saw how to send your pics out will do that later when i got more time have fun today hi debbie!

  Kew Train ...   24:52     99°  (4:00 pm)    Bright, sunny and clear.  Mild breeze.  Alexa says, "No rain is expected tonight".  I agree.

I hope all is going well today for all of you.

Hi Cal     That was an interesting list of Clan mothers and cubs ... there are a lot more of them than I was aware of.  I am glad they seem to be doing well.   Thanks for the list.  How is Mr. Kitty doing, any improvement?  Well, I fell last night, trying to get past that Moose-sized puppy we have here.  It was in no way her fault, it was mine.  Didn't break anything, just a bit sore and a couple of bruised toes and knee.  I need to be more mindful of what I am doing.

I am happy that Zelensky is trying to clear out the corrupt ones from his government.  He cannot truly win unless he does.

Hi Joho     It sounds like you and Karen had a wonderful evening,  I'm glad to hear it.

Just got home from a movie with Mary. It was great to be with her.  We saw Barbie.  Mary wore a pink T shirt with "Barbie" across the chest. Debbie knew I was going to see Barbie.  She laughed.
Tomorrow, I will take her and her dog Molly to Akron pet specialist in Akron for eye follow up. I need to do this because her sister, the driver, fell and broke her arm the last time they took Molly to Akron.
 I told Mary all about Karen.  She said good for me, and meant it. Later, while I was with Mary in her kitchen, Karen texted that she wants to treat me to dinner tomorrow night.  I had to ask Mary what time we would get back before I could answer Karen.  Mary said we would be back by 5:30.  So I should tell Karen 6PM.  I did.
 Tomorrow I will tell Karen all about Mary.  I hope she takes to our life as well as Mary did.  I think she will.  If not, maybe I will have Mary talk to her for me.
BTW Just as I was leaving to take Mary to the movie my next door neighbor ran out to the curb and in vited me over for cocktails on his patio at 7 unless I had a date he joked.  I showed him Mary's beautiful picture in the rose garden, and told him I was on my way to pick her up.  Maybe patio some other day, but not today.  Now tomorrow is another date, but with Karen. WOW!  I am blessed I tells ya.
Now I am tired.  So GBU EV1 and GB Ukraine

Another Quiet Day - UPDATE September 5, 2023

Olive's cub
It was another quiet day until the thunderstorm hit in late afternoon. But with no shots heard it is still a quiet day in our book.

The morning started with one of Olive’s cubs looking good in the sun in the tree it spent the night in again. It’s hard to tell if it is her female cubs with a blaze on her chest or the males without the blaze. I’m leaning toward it being the male.

Three more clan mothers with cubs are on the list—14 so far:

Sadie (9) with two females named Sasha and Sienna and a male named Sergio

Luna (7) with an unknown number of cubs of unknown sex

Libby (4) with a female named Joleen and a male named Justin

Thank you for all you do,
