Good morning everyone- cold here- 14- brrr.  Couldn't believe that a really good sports weekend ended with the Steelers losing. Wow. Iowa basketball won twice and Iowa football won and the Chiefs  won. cal- have you seen the Head and Shoulder ad with Pqtrick and Troy Polamalu??? Troy was my favorite Steeler for a lot of years- is retired now.  He has quite a head of hair.

rues- i was in a shop where most of the objects are hand made. I noticed they had macrame stuff. I told the young lady at the register that  i used to do macrame 50 years ago. We had a good laugh over that. Truly everything i tried to make looked horrible. My Mom was good at all that stuff. I always said that my contribution was being able to appreciate others' talents! I think one of your talents is story telling here.

We haven't gotton out yet. The gravel road hasn't been plowed and just the tire tracks have melted but since only  pickups have been by i think bertha would high center. Maybe later,
Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies!  I make 12 dozen chocolate chip cookies today.  I usually make a lot of different kinds, but decided to just do these this year.

cal... Good luck with Boo tomorrow!  I was talking to one of the grands about you having to take your big dog to the vet and she laughingly said it sounds like you need a horse trailer!  lol  I don't like the idea of you riding back there either, but you should be fine.  We used to leave our horse trailer in the pasture, so Goldie would be used to it, when she needed to go somewhere.  Yup, she got used to it all right... She ate the lights off the top sides of it and always pulled the rubber mat out with her teeth and played with it.  lol  She was so curious about everything and so playful.  I'm glad Pearl was a good girl today with Joe.

rues... It's ok that you're not creative.  The people who are rely on people like you to buy and appreciate what they've made.  Sounds like you get a good assortment of stuff!  My mom was good at almost everything... I don't think she tried basket making, but she was a really good painter.  That talent skipped over me and went to my daughter and grands.  The only thing I could draw decent was with sidewalk chalk with the girls when they were little.  lol

joho... Maybe you could save your tree... When I moved here I planted several trees that I thought had died, so I cut them down to stubs.  Now they are about 30 feet tall!  surprise!  lol

lupine... Sounds like you got a LOT of snow!!

Hope all are doing well!

Good morning everyone- 18 here. We got into town yesterday. Hubby took jimmy out a little ways and said bertha would be scraping her bottom so we timed it so we could go together. Hard to believe the county hadn't plowed.  We had numerous errands to run- my friend who had fallen some asked me to mail some packages for her, we wanted to get a walk in at the rec center; hubby needed to go to the bank, pharmacy and grocery and then we needed to get lunch at second street, then back to my friend to give her the receipt and change. It was almost too much multi tasking for hubby but we got it done. lol  Then just after noon the maintainer went by. Finally!! I'll be able to get bertha out.

I talked to my walking friend and their road hadn't been plowed yet either but their car has a high clearance so we're meeting this morning.

cal- absolutely loved the the Believe! with Mahome's jersey.  I'm sad for the Steelers but glad for your team.  Good luck with booboo today.  Am glad your farrier is so good and pearl behaves.

Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies!  Pretty cold here today and a chance for freezing rain in the morning.

cal... I'm wondering how you did with Boo today.  Did you get him in the trailer?  Was he a good boy?  Sure hope so!  Did they have to put a muzzle on him and sedate him to be able to work with him?  So many questions!!  Can't wait to hear your story.  I saw on the news tonight that it looked like a snow storm in your part of the country.  Hope you didn't have bad roads.

Hi to all!  Have a good sleep!

It feels good to be getting my energy back. Back at work, a high point today was finding that the pine marten is still (or again) in residence here. She stopped by long enough for a click by day and a click by night. Not to be outdone, the Bear Center had its own pine marten a couple days ago as caught by "Happy Cub".

In Their Dens and On the Hunt - UPDATE December 16, 2020

Today, up and at ?em, I had to see the four bears. What did it look like in Tasha?s den from ground level? It was a lot of bedding with a black spot in the middle. Lucky?s door was a half wall of bedding with a black spot beyond. Ted?s entrance was a half wall of bedding, up close my eyes and the camera could make him out, especially when he moved his nose a bit to show the ?It?s me? guy that he was still a sentient being. Holly?s snowy entrance had no signs that she has been out since she was last seen on September 26, showing her Minnesota genes. Tasha put on a very educational show as she showed her ingenuity as a construction engineer gathering wild bedding from near and far. At the end, we gave in to our urge to pamper and made a quarter bale of straw available to her, which she gladly accepted. Now in mid December, I?m thinking they are down for the winter. Tasha and Holly began this year of activity on March 27 and 28.

Out the window, I wondered why no flying squirrels were showing up in the darkness after 8 PM. Then I saw why. Ms Pine Marten was on the hunt. She didn?t care about bologna or sunflower seed hearts, she had bigger things on her mind. She was up and down trees, poised on alert, searching in the darkness for long periods, and checking all the places where the squirrels often go. Interesting to see. Pine Marten

Success is difficult, but I have twice seen her with a red squirrel or flying squirrel in her jaws. I love all of these animals and wish them long lives, but sometimes it is intriguing to see their wild instincts at work. My bologna was not enough to stop Ms. Marten from her wild desires. Now, an hour later, still no flying squirrels. The word must be out.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone- yesterday turned really nice here; sun came out and even though we never got above freezing it seemed warm.  I made an adjustment for izzy's bed this week. We had gotten a cardboard box that had dimensions that fit the top of my dresser where izzy sleeps. She has her own blanket there also. We think that sometimes she falls off the dresser which is about 4 feet high. She doesn't get hurt but i just hated that she might be falling off.  Hubby and i looked at all kinds of cat beds but we could never fiend the "right one."

The above box is just about 4 inches high and Izzy loves it!! lol she never even hesitated after a quick smell. Sometimes during the day i have seen her up there- so success!  It[s really funny that she goes to her bed at the same time i go to bed. she never gets on our bed though just jumps to the filing cabinet then up to the top of the dresser.  Some one must have trained her not to get on the bed because we never said anything to her when she came home with  us.

Need to get breakfast and check the east coast to see if their storm is raging. Sounded pretty serious last i heard.
Thinking of you cal!

Have a great day jewelies!
