Good morning everyone- Another nice day predicted here then cool weather on the way. I'll be glad when the bears are safe. I wish Dr. Rogers would have explained more about the importance of the oaks to bear reproduction. Must be something in the acorns.?? Guess i'll look it up.

I'm still bummed that i can't see Ted's cam. cal- can you e-mail them or give me the address?  I'm really surprised your racoonies aren't still coming to eat. Do you think they are hibernating already?

ra- you sure are making progress on your needlework. My Mom would be proud of you. She loved her projects- alas, i did not inherit her skill but i do have an deep appreciation for those who do.

I may get out to trim back hosta and peonies today depending on the wind direction. Unfortunately once crops are out our neighbors spread pit on the fields. PU!!  Izzy and i went out yesterday for a bit. She is curious but after a few training sessions she knows her boundaries. And i had been leaving the back door open if i happen to come in while she is still out. Yesterday the furnace came on with the wind whipping in the door. lol  She is so smart and very special,
cal- is the dog in the dog shame named lupine? My eyes are blurry or the print is.

Have a great day jewelies!

Good morning everyone- must be a bit chilly here since the furnace came on just a bit ago.  High in the mid  50's and freezing temps tonight. I'm ready though i still have outside stuff to do. It was super windy yesterday  and hubby decided to take out window AC unit out. We lifted it together and it is always a lot of cleaning after. We have windows that you can pull out so all cleaning can be done from the inside. Hubby pulled the inside ones out and i was doing the storms. He said i'll put the inside ones back in when he gets home. So after 30 years ( maybe not quite that many) he decides those windows are pretty heavy. Yeesh- i could have told him that years ago.  So i got all the bits and pieces cleaned and ready to be stored- window clean and area around there clean. And Izzy found another window to  watch the world from.  It's on the north side of the house and she prefers the sunny south side.

Sounds like there is no wind this morning so maybe i'll get stuff done after walking, class and coffee. Lately we've been having celebrations at coffee time. Seems that we have lots of birthdays in the past few weeks. I'm always up to party. On tuesday we had quiche! One of our member ladies made it-   wonderful brunch!

Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies!  Nice fall day here, but may get a frost this weekend.  I think it's going to be another chilly Friday night football game!

cal... Who do the Wildcats play this weekend?  Got a time yet?  Clemson's game is at noon against GA Tech at home.  It's on ABC, so don't know if you'll get to watch this week.  I have another cable guy coming tomorrow morning... phone, internet and HD channels are spotty for some reason.

lupine... Did you get a lot done this afternoon?  Won't be long and you'll be getting your snow!!  lol

rues... I had to work today and the lady will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow... seems like she is also going to be the same age as someone else we know!   ;)

Have a good evening, Jewelies!  Anyone watching  the candidates on tv tonight?  Not me...  I've heard enough!!  lol

Daily Updates
Last Visit of the Year? - UPDATE October 15, 2020
15 October 2020
 Print Email
Mary Lee on 10-13-20
Mary Lee on 10-13-20
Mary Lee, named after Mary Lee Dayton who, with her husband Wally, funded my early bear study here in Minnesota, visited two nights ago in the dark of night. That is usual for bears at this time of year, which is one reason bear hunting drops off a lot in the last month of the season. Then she skipped last night, and it?s looking like she will do the same tonight. Not sure yet, though. The camera will catch her if she comes overnight. Mary Lee is the 2-year-old daughter of Daisy, granddaughter of Bow, great granddaughter of RC, and great great granddaughter of 33-year-old Shadow.

Yesterday afternoon was the first dusting of snow with the temperature at 34?F. It was enough to wet this male dark-eyed junco as the snow quickly melted on contact.

More snow came overnight and was visible this morning at 31?F on the old beaver lodge across Woods Lake.

Through the day, blue jays socially distanced as they competed for sunflower seed hearts.

Blue Jays

Not competing for the seeds was the first gray jay I?ve seen for months. They prefer suet, and it made trip after trip, going off and gluing bits to branches with its sticky saliva. They live in snow country, so they store food in trees rather than on the ground like red squirrels do. They burrow down to find them in winter.

The day ended with a nice pair of northern flying squirrels eating sunflower seed hearts side by side.

Thank you for all you do.

Hi jewelies it is 36 here 49 in the barn one raccoonie. Big yay cause bear murdering time is over!!! :) Mary lee such a pretty girl. i would hope that a bear or any animals out in the dark is safe from looney hunters. around here no shooting after dusk. although hunters want to shoot at each other in the pitch dark guess that would be okay. love the update pictures today and this cold weather the girls went out earlier and was jumping and running all over the dogs yards. still warm in the barn up to 60 today.

Hi Joho! griz started his barking but stopped i hear the girls sound like they are in the trash but i am determine to finish this post and read my email. how cold is it for you this morning?

hi ra i do not see a playing time for my wildcats tomorrow guess not playing. no i did not watch any pres junk. watch hotel transyvania 3 vacation

Hi Rues! what are you doing today? eating out for one i hope or get it bring it back and did crow make you a cake? i saw hocus pocus is on sometime today probably on a lot right now.

hi lupe!it was super windy around here yesterday and i think some wind today. yesterday the wind was chilly. i have a garden spider has its web on the side of barn by the door i go into. yesterday when i went out around 4 it took off and got over by the hole where the ac stuff comes into the barn. i hope it found a warmer place to be. been seeing a ton of spiders the last week some in the garage and coaly cat been chasing them all over the garage i try to catch them put them outside.
