Hi Jewelies!  Pretty cold here this morning, no frost yet though.  Sun is out!

cal... We lost last night... 35-7.  The people at the game weren't as careful as the first time... lots without masks and didn't watch the seating like they did either.  Clemson grand brought her boyfriend to the game to watch her sister cheering.  Probably will be the last time she gets to watch her.  Cheer grand has a sprained ankle, so by the end of the game she was hurting.  Her boyfriend came again, too, so we had almost the whole family there.  my SIL is doing an outage in Miami, so he wasn't there again.  Cable guy was here yesterday.  He said I was getting too much signal and it was confusing the router, so it would shut down.  He put a new splitter in outside... so far, so good.  Fingers are crossed!!  Last weekend when the tornado was here, I was watching the channel for the game, but it wasn't my usual news channel.  Good thing, because the lady I cleaned for this week said they were saying on the weather on the channel I wasn't watching, the storm was on my road!!  Yikes!   Glad I didn't know it!  lol

lupine... I'm with rues... I don't understand the contract either...  I guess us "town folk" don't know that kind of stuff.   Izzy sounds like a very good kitty!  I'm glad you got her, too.

rues... Sounds like you had a nice quiet birthday.  But, frozen pizza??  lol  So sorry to hear that Robin has to quarantine!  Hope she stays well!

Hope everyone has a nice Saturday!  GO TIGERS!!

Good morning, Jewelies! We had frost overnight but not the freeze they warned us about. Doesn't look like any plants were damaged. Here's Winnie's pic with her namesake...

I think our Winnie is much cuter! Lol! Robin was soaking in a bubble bath watching Hocus Pocus on her iPad when Winnie jumped up on the tray! Of course, Robin never far from her phone was able to get the pic! She didn't notice until I told her that the caption on the screen was perfect for the shot!

Cal, I would freeze to death at your house! I have my furnace on 72! I remember my mom saying she was going to be warm no matter how much her gas bill was! I find as I get older that I'm more and more like her! Which isn't a bad thing!  Everywhere I go there are people not wearing their masks. I just don't get it. If it can save lives why not put the darn thing on! I hate wearing it, too, but I do it whenever I'm out among people. I think the holidays will be different for most this year if the experts are correct about the spread of ykw. My state had more  positive cases yesterday than ever before! Governor says that's good because that lets the asymptomatic know they can be spreaders. Pepper was the only cat we had that laid on the furnace vent. Wilson does it when the ac is on! Crazy cats!

Lupe, my hosta are just turning yellow now. I haven't put out bird seed yet because I have several spider flowers (cleome) growing under the feeders. I hate to tear out blooming flowers because the bees are still going to them. The knock out rose is still full of bloom. Temps are supposed to be in the high 60's for the next week so hopefully things will continue to bloom.

Ra, sorry you lost the game and sorry people weren't as careful! Seems to be a lot of that going around! Hope the grand's ankle heals quickly. I'm sure that hurts. Glad you got your cable fixed. Who knew you could get too much signal! Yikes, is right about the storm being on your road! I wouldn't want to know it either!

Have a great day! Stay safe! :)

hi cal... Halftime score...52-7.  Oh, my...  Guess we'll have a bunch of other players in the second half.  I've never seen Clemson score that many in one half... almost embarrassing.  Hope Sammy will be ok.  Sounds like the Chiefs are very serious about no ykw, making the new player test so many times.   Too bad there aren't more teams that serious about it.

Daily Updates
Tasha, Snow - UPDATE October 17, 2020

Blue Jays - 10-16-20
Blue Jays - 10-16-20

Rumors are that Tasha is digging a den maybe 20 feet from the den that Holly took over from her. Someone got a nice 31-second close-up video of Lucky carefully grasping his dinner-to-go and taking it into his den to have dinner in bed. https://www.facebook.com/160714344098264/videos/2775892742646589

Out the window yesterday, after seeing blue jays social distancing nicely the day before as they fed, I saw what can happen when a blue jay violates that distance. The blue jay turned toward the violator, opened its beak, raised its crest, and opened its wings. The violator backed off.

Today was the first big snow. The gray jay returned. As the snow deepened deer had to nose down through it for grass. Hungry chickadees and red-breasted nuthatches landed one after another on my hand. It?s starting to feel a lot like winter.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone-  must be chilly out because furnace has come on.  Hubby was  snoring so i gave up and just got up early.  Izzy had enough too so she's with me.

cal- Ted's camera is working for me now. I watched it snow on him yesterday.  I think it was Sharon who brought him peanuts- he isn't quite ready to quit eating and just hibernate.
For all you city guys-  CPR=Conservation Reserve Program from USDA.  Contract is- In exchange for a yearly rental payment we enrolled  28 acres that is classified as environmentally sensitive from agriculture production and plant species that will improve environmental health and quality. Ours is a 15 year commitment.  The long term goal is to re-establish valuable land cover to help improve water quality, prevent soil erosion and reduce loss of wildlife habitat.  We shared initial costs for the seed and to have it custom sowed.

One of Bob Anderson's comments really stuck with me. He said that Iowa is basically a biodiverse desert.   how sad that the greed of the American farmer has led to this. For a time i felt guilty taking money for this program while doing the right thing for the land.  Kind of a sell out!!  We should have done it on our own.

So on to breakfast pizza and football- Steelers at noon.

Have a great day jewelies!
