Hi Jewelies!  Another beautiful day... warmer than it has been, but still nice.

lupine... Sounds like you had quite an experience!  Bet you were glad when you were finally home!

cal...  I've been having trouble logging in, too.  For the past few days, it says I'm a guest, but usually if I hit refresh, it comes back without login info.  A couple of times it had other people's names at the top instead of ra!  That was weird!  I've been busy today... cut the grass (maybe for the last time), doing laundry, and cleaning, plus I have to go to work this evening, too.  Getting it all done, so I can cross stitch all weekend.  Well, after I get my hair cut tomorrow...  lol

joho... Hope you can get your motorcycle going and SAFE!!  Maybe the bike is a better choice??  lol

rues... Looks like you might be in the path of the storm this time, too.  Hope you don't have too bad weather... we're supposed to get quite a bit of rain from it.

Have a good afternoon, Jewelies!

Daily Updates
Tasha, Ted, Brown Mystery Bear, and a BBC Rerun - UPDATE October 8, 2020

Ted as a cub
Ted as a cub
With her newly enlarged den stolen by Holly, Tasha doesn?t seem to be digging a new one. On October 5, Taught caught Tasha rolling back and forth in the stream in her full winter coat in this 2:44-minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQPX7VV8MEQ She had to cool off with the temperature at 63F?.

Sharon found the cute picture of Ted as a cub with his little red wagon that she wrote about a couple days ago. This was back in 1997.

Last night, the brown mystery yearling was here weighing 88.5 pounds and limping on his left front leg. He was the only bear seen all day. Others might have come later during the night. No bears were seen all day today as of 7:22 PM. Deer were here eating grass and weeds instead.

Some of you saw a rerun of the BBC documentary ?My Bear Family and Me? about Lily and Hope back in May 2010. I learned about the rerun from some of you and heard that the 3-part series was airing on the 7th, 8th, and 9th on BBC Two. I don?t know if it is airing in the US or just in England.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone- 55 here. Tennis begins at 7:50 AM with 2 semi finals. Rafa against Diego Schwartzman and the second match is Novak against Alexandro Tsitsipas. Both matches should be great ones. I like all four competitors but will cheer for Rafa and Novak. Men's final will be on sunday.

Women's final is saturday morning  American Sofia Kenin against Iga Swiatek.
TV coverage today doesn't start until 10 AM- nbcsn and nbc .

Sil was exposed to a ykw person on sunday in church. Persons walked right by her and tested positive on monday. Sil had appointment with her oncologist for a checkup yesterday. I said call and see what they want to do. They rescheduled for 2 weeks.  So am checking on her- she takes temperature every day.,  We have been self quarantining since we got back from Colorado. We were careful- only went in to convenience store to get coffee- hubby paid at pump for gas. Always wore a mask. But still we were around lots of different people.  We took most of our food along- got McDonalds one time but ate in the van.

Great weather here but dry,

cal- have you tried to see Ted's cam at NABC? I  haven't had any luck since we got back.

Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies!  Cloudy and drizzly today, but heavy rains expected Saturday and Sunday.

cal... Clemson's game is at 7:30 tomorrow on ABC.  It's supposed to be real rainy.  Hope I get to watch the Wildcat's game too.  I heard on the news that Mahomes has been exposed to ykw.  Wasn't thinking and hugged a Patriot player that turned out to be positive.  Sure will be glad when we don't have to worry about stuff like that anymore.  Sammy Watkins will be playing against another Clemson alumni, Hunter Renfrew.  Hope I get to watch that game, too.  If I was rich, I'd get the NFL channel...

lupine... Fingers are crossed for your sil.  As careful as we try to be, you just never know who's walking around with ykw.

Hi to all!  Have a good afternoon!

Hi Jewelies! I, too, had to sign in to RRP. Had to get my password book out!

Cal, Robin adopted a 3 month old kitten from the Humane Society! She filled out the adoption form online on Tuesday and on Wednesday they called to say she could come and pick out a kitten. She had looked at several online and thought she knew which one she wanted. I went with her after she got off work on Wednesday afternoon. She didn't pick any of the ones on her list! Instead she ended up getting a little light grey female tabby. She named her Winifred, calling her Winnie, from the movie Hocus Pocus. I've never seen the movie and I had no idea who she was talking about! Being that it is Halloween time she wanted a name that went with the season. Apparently Winnie is a witch in the movie! I hope this little kitty doesn't live up to her name! This month is adopt a pet month at the Humane Society. The adoption only cost $20 and that includes spaying/neuter, all shots, worming and flea treatment. She takes her back tomorrow for a booster shot. Tela isn't sure if she likes her or not. We hope they will be good friends!  My dr appt went well. She was very pleased with my blood work results. We mostly talked politics because we are both in agreement! Medicare said I needed a wellness exam so the nurse asked me a bunch of questions. I was worried when she said the next questions would be to test my memory! Oh, dear, I thought! But I did  well! One of the questions was when did WW II end! The nurse was surprised that I knew the answer! Lol! I got the flu shot but dr said it would be cheaper to get the shingles shot at a pharmacy. I have a bone density scan scheduled for Monday so Crow said we would stop in at Walgreens afterwards and see about the shingles shot there. Apparently the one he got a few years ago wasn't effective.

Lupe, glad you and hubby made it home safely! When my sister moved back home from Philadelphia Crow and I drove this big old rental van. It was pouring the rain down and the wind blowing like crazy. Crow had a hard time keeping the van on the road. I was so scared. Don't ever want to do that again! I know how much you love tennis but I was so mad at NBC yesterday and today because Days of our Lives was preempted for tennis!  I was screaming why aren't you on the sports channel! Lol! Hope your sil is ok. She must be so worried.

Ra, our weather guy says we may only get a little rain from Delta. Southern counties may see more. We need rain so badly. The weather has been great here. In the mornings I have the heat on and by noon I have the doors open! Abundance of sunshine, too! Leaves are changing and I would love to go to the mountains and do some leaf peeping! It's been a long time since we were there ( before dogs). Maybe next year things will be better and we can go. How is your grand doing?

Jo, scary ride you took on your motorcycle! Glad you made it home safely! Yep, a bike might be safer!

Have a great day! Stay safe!

hi ev1,  Stayed on Pond and Ted cams long enough to stop twirling.  Took a long time, but I was able to chat with Marge and Mehr for a while.  It has been a long time since I could chat.  Just could not get it working until very recently.
Tasha was wandering around the pond for quite a while.  Then drifted away into the woods like a ghost. Got a good look at Ted.  He did not look like he could fit in his wagon.
Did ride a little today, because it was so nice out here.  Also got carpet cleaned this morning, and it is still very wet.  Workers said it would dry in a few hours.  It looks more like a few days to me at this point.  Started at 9:30.  Now it is 11 hours later, and still very wet.  Had fans running all day with all windows open.  The area closest to the front open windows is drier though.  So I am hopeful that tomorrow morning floors will be dry. I can't avoid walking on it.  So I am wearing Walmart bags over my shoes.
Very glad to hear of new adoptions.  I like to watch gold mining and fishing on Friday night.  So I will wish you all well and say good night for now.

Hi ev1,  Floors are dry .  I finally get up early enough to see your chats and none are here.  Well happy Sat. to you.  I hope it is only internet trouble and not real bad stuff happening.  Motorcycle is under repair at same shop as before.  Seems brake seals got old and brittle and quit working.  Front and back at the same time.  Carpet cleaning seems to have worked out ok.  House looks very good this morning.  Outside looks good too.  I will probably go for a short ride in the park.  I like to do this every day if it is dry enough.  First though I will go get some coffee and cereal with apples and blueberries in it, and read the paper.

bye for now may God bless those in need this morning.

Good morning everyone-  where are you cal?

johoward- i tried leaving the ted cam on but it went to cam not available. Bummer! i hope your carpet is dry by now. I had to laugh at the vision of you walking around with bags on your feet.

Tennis yesterday was amazing. Rafa was tough as usual.  But Novak was challenged by Tsisitpas. To come back after 2 sets down is not easy, But novak prevailed. Great match.
rues- i get disgusted with nbc but for a different reason. Their choice of which match to show is not my choice. Then yesterday my feed froze up in the 5th set. When it came back on they were in the 4th set, What!! I felt like i was in the twilight zone. By the time i fired up my laptop sure enough the match was over. Have no idea what happened.

today at 8 AM the women's final- American Sofia Kenin against Iga Swiatek. Cheering for Sofia.  I'm planning on getting some gardening done today too. Some plants need cut back- very dry here.

ra- i like watching football in the rain but i always worry the players will get sick. Sliding around in the mud looks like fun.

rues- yay for Robin and yay for Winnie.

Have a great day jewelies!

Daily Updates
June Remembered, Ted Out and About - UPDATE October 9, 2020
09 October 2020
 Print Email
I was happy that someone spotted and sent me this Eulogy for 12-year-old June. JuneShe was killed on September 27, 2013 after a lifetime of revealing secrets of bear life, refuting old misconceptions, giving the world a new view of black bears. It was nice to see her remembered so eloquently by Dr. Gay Bradshaw.

In a way, Ted is doing more of the same for bears, showing a loving side of bears that surprises many.

Today, Ted took a walk and recorded his weight?677 pounds, putting him at about the weight that Sharon and our veterinarian want him to be at this time of year. Good going, Sharon, for taking such good care of your friend.

After about 45 minutes of visiting the viewing area where he became famous for lounging on his preaching log, he ambled back toward his familiar abode, stopping along the way to eat rye grass that he likes.

?Happy Cub? captured the pictures and included these words:

?Ted enjoyed a stroll to the pond this morning - he is on his way back to his enclosure at the moment. He enjoyed one of his faves - rye grass on the mound, got a weigh-in, foraged around the pond area for treats and enjoyed the morning sunshine. Moderator ?Taughtbybears? did a great job on the cams, and maybe we will see a nice vid to come for those that missed. Here are some screen shots in the meantime.?

Thank you for all you do.
