Good morning everyone- 48 here and damp but no wind yet. We had a record low high yesterday and expect one today.  The mums i put in the containers last week are very happy- buds are starting to burst.

In tennis we are getting down to the end matches. Yesterday American Jen Brady moves on. Serena plays today at 11 AM. Aanother favorite of mine is Vitoria Azarenka from Belarus. She hadn't played for along time- had a baby then had legal problems with the baby's father. I liked her personality in her interviews, etc. Unfortunately she is one of the screamers so i have to mute the sound.

Hubby got a good checkup yesterday then a stop at hubby's favorite spot- Menards. He got windshield wipers for his brother's car and ours. Then we headed home to catch the end of Jen's match.

ra- first time flu shot- so proud of you. Glad you had a good birthday.

Don't know what is on the agenda today. With the windows closed Izzy has been having to adjust her leaps to stop at the inside sill. She is such a blessing to us- so sweet!

Have a great day jewelies!

Good morning everyone- 48 here again and wet again. I saw the forecast this morning and after 3 more days of this and maybe heavy rain tomorrow we get more normal weather. I'm actually enjoying this dreary stuff- cleaning a bit in the house and watching tons of tennis.

Serena did win and she plays tonight against Victoria Azarenka. Jen Brady plays Naomi Osaka at 6 then Serena plays probably during the Chiefs game. I'm hoping to catch the second half of football if i can stay up that late! Both tennis matches should be good- all four playing well.

cal- so glad you and sister are out driving. i remember teaching my younger brother to drive- very nerve wracking for me. And you found a new bakery- how fun! What a bummer about  penny. She must have felt terrible until you gave her the pred.  Izzy was on meds for her snotty nose- poor thing would sneezeand just fling snot all over.  The cefa didn't work but the clindamycin and antihistamine are working. No episode since Saturday. Yay!

Walking with my friend this morning and then class. My walking buddy has a garden and she and her husband have been bringing me their tomatoes. So very good. They are about done so today's haul may be the last. My niece in northern Montana said they had a killing frost this week. She and her hubby harvested their garden before the frost.  She does a lot of canning so i'm sure nothing will go to waste.

time for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

Daily Updates
Another Quiet Day - UPDATE September 10, 2020
10 September 2020
 Print Email
Blue jayThis 10th day of the bear-hunting season was another quiet day after the initial reported take of 6 bears from the vicinity. We are still watching and waiting to determine which bears have disappeared, but we will mostly have to wait until next year to know best.

As birds come and go outside the windows, I do paperwork that includes the book, while a team of dedicated people work hard in every way for the bears.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone- late night last night. Very disappointing tennis results  with both Jen Brady and Serena Williams losing. At least the Chiefs won. Good game.

Looks to be another rainy day. The mums i planted last weekend look fantastic.

Need to get a move on--- Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies! Looks like it's going to rain but radar shows no rain! Just gray clouds, I guess. Sad news...the little kitty passed away Tuesday morning. We had taken her to the Emergency Vet on Labor Day because she didn't seem to be doing well. They gave her fluids but didn't give us much hope for her survival. Kitty's mom was walking around in Robin's backyard yesterday. Robin hopes to catch her after her remaining kittens are weaned and take her to the SPOT Clinic that spays and neuters. They only charge $25.

Cal, I was caught off guard, too, when I read the update. Horrified, actually.  Glad Polly is practicing her driving! The store you stopped at sounds great! Wish we had something like that around here. Schools opened Tuesday and already a case of ykw! Wish this nightmare would end. On a brighter note... at the new house being built 2 doors down a big crane was lifting the rafters on to the top of the house framing. Each rafter swung back and forth high up in the air. Wilson was sitting on the back porch step watching intently as each rafter was swinging back and forth! He watched for a good while! I think he likes being an only pet now! He sleeps in places he never did before. He is friendlier and comes around us more often. I think he likes the house being quiet!

Ra, I bet your daughter's carrot cake is delicious! I could just eat the cream cheese icing! Yesterday was Robin's 41st birthday! She wanted a frozen ice cream cake from Walmart and for me to make an apple crisp. She also wanted that dreaded Thanksgiving dinner meal. Of course, she got what she wanted! It was 87 outside and the ac is running and I had the oven on 350 for 3 hours! The kitchen was so hot. Glad you got your flu shot! My sis got her flu shot at Walmart on Wed. It took 45 min before they got around to her! She wanted me to get mine then, too, but I have a dr appt Oct 8. I 'll get mine then.

Lupe, I have lots of tomatoes ripening now but by this time in the season I think they taste awful! They are ok in salsa but yucky on a sandwich. I decided not to put mums in my urns out front. Since the deer ate my pansies in the spring and 2 of the 3 hydrangea blooms the bush produced  this summer, I'm not giving them the chance to eat the mums. My sis says they definitely eat mums. There are several deer that roam the neighborhood day and night. I've had a golden colored bush like lantana in the urns all summer that the deer don't bother. I think they look fall like so I'm leaving them there until they get frost bit. I may buy a couple mums for the deck.

Have a great day! Stay safe! :)

Hi Jewelies!  Hearing what cal and rues said... I'm glad I'm not reading the updates now!!

rues... So sorry to hear that the kitten didn't make it.  Still proud of Robin for trying though.  Thanksgiving dinner again??  lol  Your daughter is spoiled like mine is.   ;)

cal... The new running back was awesome last night!  How does Patrick have time to watch college sports enough to see who he wants??  Seems like he would be out spending some of his money.  lol  That runner was so little compared to all those other guys!!  Fast and feisty!  That crowd did good, too... lots of big mouths!  lol

joho... I agree with you... seems so good to be able to watch football again.  My fingers are crossed that they can continue.

Don't forget to cheer for Clemson Tigers this Saturday night at 7:30 EDT.
