Good morning everyone-  quiet here and a late morning again.rues- i'm watching the Tour de France- 109 miles today. Hubby bought a 1998 Jimmy 4x4. He's talked to the owner twice- the last time for 45 minutes!  Says there is no rust but there is a knock in he engine. That's not a problem for us but it may be a challenge getting it here. We'll have to plan on maybe towing it so we can't take bertha.

Geez- i just saw storm reports for Sally- i hope jp is okay in Key West. Gulf coast is going to get it again. Such a year this has been. We had the window open a bit in the living room and izzy loved it. Stretched out in the sun.

Steelers tonight-  have a great day jewelies!

Hi EV1,
I am here every day FYI.  Not always in the mood for chatting back.  Always glad to see all of your posts, and thankful for your support which I feel from your words.  It helps me in these sad days just to read something normal.
Eye is good.  Have to wait three weeks for new exam for glasses.  Next is hammer toe surgery on the 18th.  Then they are supposed to call today to schedule knee replacement.  After that I should be, as they say, "good to go".
Looking forward to doing long walks and hill and stair climbs.  Not to mention traveling and bear visiting.  Hope it is not too late for me.
Bye for now may God bless those in need.

Good morning everyone-  55 here and calm. Yesterday was beautiful- warm although the sun was blocked a bit be a haze high in the atmosphere from the fires in the west. We couldn't smell it because it was up really high-Sun still came through to warm us up.  Of course the rain last  week has everything greening up- and we'll need to mow either today or tomorrow. I don't mind mowing. I was going to do it yesterday afternoon but we started watching  old episodes of Rizzoli and Isles and there was a recurring theme with Rizzoli. It kept going from hour to hour. Then i checked the guide and saw it wasn't going to be solved until midnight. Geez!! I'll try to find it on the computer sometime.

Watching the end of the Steeler game from last night. I'd forgotten Rothlisberger was out all last year. So good to see football again.

johoward- good to see you here; your plans sound great- Ted awaits!!

cal- yes our new- old vehicle is an suv. We really need a 4-wheel drive here just to get out after snow.  Bertha is pretty good until the snow gets over 6 inches or drifts.

Time for breakfast- have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies!  Nice and cool today and for the next few days

cal... It's not raining here yet, but supposed to start tomorrow night.  At first they said we might get as much as 7" of rain, but now they have it down to 2 or 3.  Supposed to be done on Friday morning.  Just hope Sally doesn't change course and move more to the North!

lupine... When are you going to Colorado?  Is their snow all gone now?  You going to visit your niece while there?

joho... good to hear from you!  Good luck on your upcoming toe surgery!  Your plan to get "good to go" sounds great!

rues... Did you get your pool closed?  It's finally getting cooler!!  We've all been waiting and waiting.  Just think... it won't be long before we don't have to mow anymore.  Yay!  It's hard to find just the right furniture.  I could kick myself for what I ended up buying the last time.  I chose solid brown... and have a white cat.  duh.  I should have waited, too.

I hope everyone has a good night!  Hi to all!

Daily Updates
Another Nice Quiet Day, Plus Color - UPDATE September 15, 2020
15 September 2020

Mountain Maple
Mountain Maple

Color has come on fast in the last couple days with maples as the stars so far. Red maples have smooth leaves and can be red, pink, or yellow and are consistently the same color each year with some variation in intensity. Mountain maples have little mountains and valleys as texture on leaves that are more orange and yellow. Maple leaves will fall in early October while other trees are reaching their peaks of color.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone- another late start and Izzy has to be  get her laptop time before the Dell gets to be a laptop. She is the VIP in this house.

55 here and really going to be a nice day. Yesterday was beautiful - got hubby's brother's car taken care of- class and coffee time with friends too. Then we got enough time to get the mowing done. I'm pretty sure it has been 6- 8 weeks since we last mowed the whole yard. The mums i bought are just starting to bloom and they are going to be stunning. Hazy day again with wildfire smoke from the west coast high up- weather guy said above 10,000 feet here so air quality is not affected on the ground.

Today we have to get our driver's licenses renewed. We had to make an appointment- can you believe it? Our county seat is about 45 minutes away so we've decided to give an hour just in case. Don't want to lose our place. I got all our info out so we can get the star on our license.

Have a great day jewelies!

Good morning everyone-  i haven't been outside yet. since it's staying dark late my outside guys sleep in. no sense putting out food if they aren't there.

Yesterday we both got our licenses renewed. Good for 5 years. New picture is just awful- i look really, really old. Hubby said You ARE really, really old. I said Yeah but they didn't have to make me look that way! lol  After we were done there we did a little drive on gravel roads and ended up in the Amanas. We had lunch at the Ox Yoke Inn. This is the first time we've eaten in a restaurant since March. Amazing. I had a huge burger- no bun- and hubby had a tenderloin sandwich. I had sweet potato fries and they were yummy almost like dessert.  Then when we were done the waitress brought a huge tray with different desserts. It was beautiful but we declined.
It was busy there which was good- all staff had masks  and the tables were spread out, single use paper menus and our waitress said they double sanitize between people. I felt very safe- such a celebration for us.

Then in the afternoon i went to our local pharmacy and got my flu shot. Bought a couple cards there as well. When we got home there was a package from my niece with goodies she made. So glad we passed up the desserts at the restaurant.

ra- is it raining; looks like Sally is about on you now! Stay safe.

Looks like the big 10 (which is really 14) is going to start football in October- the 23rd and 24th.  Should make some people very happy.

Watching the bicycle race in France- the huge tennis tournament is in Paris starting September 27th.  Well- i'd best feed the cats and myself.
Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies! We are having beautiful weather! Highs in the 70's and lows in the 40's and low humidity! Couldn't ask for anything better. Are area of the state got nothing from Hurricane Sally. Southern areas got several inches of rain. Looks like no rain here for at least a week. Weather guy said that haze in the air is from the wildfires out west. Heard today that the smoke has reached Europe! So devastating.  We closed up the pool on Tuesday, mowed Robin's yard yesterday and mowed our yard this morning after we got back from Sam's. Funny thing at Sam's we ran into Coyote George and his wife Terry. It's the first time they had been to Sam's since January! Terry had her shopping cart full of wine while George's cart was full of bottled water. Looks like they aren't planning on going back to Sam's for awhile!

Cal, glad to hear that pee pot Penny was pee free yesterday morning! I had to get doggie diapers for Boo the last couple months he was with us because he peed on my bed one night. Luckily he didn't seem to mind wearing them at all. They saved my bed covers and mattress for sure.

Lupe, we had a navy blue Chevy Blazer  which I think is similar to the Jimmy. We traded in my red Camaro for it. Had the Blazer for a few years and then traded it in on a black Camaro! We had all intentions on getting our federal drivers license the first of Aug. I had all the paperwork ready to go. Looking at my certified birth certificate I realized Mom's name was misspelled. They had her name Harriett spelled Harrietta! It was correctly spelled on my marriage license. I called the county clerk to see if would be a problem with me getting my fed license. She didn't know about that but she said she would contact Charleston to see if the name was correctly spelled there. If it was a county mistake they would issue me a new birth certificate free of charge. Turns it out it was spelled wrong in Charleston, too. So my only option would be to have my mom's name changed on their official records! Which could take several months since  ykw! The clerk told me to go ahead and see if the DMV would accept it as it is. So we go to our local DMV and find out it is by appointment only! Come back home and call to get an appt. only to get constant busy signal. So we got online to the DMV page. They were booked up through Oct! Right now there are only 10 DMV offices open in the state because of ykw! The next nearest ofc was 2 hours away and they, too, were booked up through Oct. We were so frustrated. We decided to forget about the fed license and just go on the DMV website and renew our old licenses! That will take care of us for 5 years. When this ykw is gone and hopefully things will be back to normal maybe then we will try the federal license again!

Ra, hope you didn't get too much rain! Governor has changed the high school football rules again! It was only immediate family could attend games but now grandparents and other close relatives can attend. I think he got a lot of complaints. So that's why he made the change. He also added in another color to his colorful county zone map! Each color zone denotes if there will be in person classes and football games.

Jo, good luck tomorrow with your toe surgery! You have some great plans ahead of you! What fun!

Have a good day! Stay safe!
