Good morning everyone- so good to hear from you johoward; and it is good to hear joan is able to see Mary. Limitations are difficult but necessary in these times. I will confess i haven't listened to the news for a few days. Guess i need to catch up.

Yesterday we went for a drive and i thought about all of my friends on this forum. It was such a beautiful drive and i wished that you all could be with hubby and me to enjoy nature in its finest.
By the time we got to the grocery it was just after noon and i didn't think that was a good time to shop so we just came home. I'll get there maybe tomorrow morning during senior's time.

On saturday a neighbor called and said he had friends visiting from michigan and he had some bees he wanted to leave here.  Hubby took the call and they discussed where to put them on our property.  We really like this guy and like to help out. Well, it seems he left a huge amount of bees. I'll take a photo soon to show you.  I'm kind of confused as to the location. Seems if you have bees you would want them on your own property. I have many questions!!!

Beautiful cool morning- lots to do- my  senior strength class is going to change back to our original time next month and we are all really glad. The instructor whom we have had for 10 years had changed our day and time because she was hired at the University to teach. Well, covid strikes again and her job was eliminated. So we will be back to Tuesday- Thursday at 9- so great for us. Not so for her.

Have a great day jewelies!!

Daily Updates
Confusion, Color, and Big Harry - UPDATE July 13, 2020
13 July 2020

Siblings
Siblings

There is confusion about the emaciated cub. The mother and the two cubs were seen on June 24, 25, 26, and 27. On June 24, the residents noticed how weak and lean the smaller of the two cubs were. On June 25, they put out a bowl of the formula that Lily Fans helped design for Hope. The cub drank it on at least two of the days during June 25-27. Then the family stopped coming there. There is uncertainty who the mother is. I took pictures on June 25, and the team will be comparing those images with the ones in the records catalog. In one of the pictures the emaciated and gangly cub is shown walking. In the other, this little male is having a moment of closeness with his sibling.Lean cub
Lean cub

Then a lone cub was seen on July 4 and given the formula. It was spotted again on July 11, and excitement grew, as I reported in the update for that day. Then the lone cub was spotted again, and the spotter made several calls to people in the community. I was among those excited that the cub was doing okay even though it was on its own. People went on the lookout, spotted it moving through, and made more calls. I was among those looking to see it and lucked out. I don?t believe it was either of the cubs that I photographed on June 25. I believe that family moved on and nature took its course for good or bad. Now that community is asking who has seen a mother who is missing one of her cubs. It is a story of sadness, confusion, and people trying to help, and some confusion. I?m thankful that people in this community care. These people not only are willing to coexist with bears, they are protective of them. Goldfinch

But sometimes nature takes its course no matter what someone does to help. The question was also asked what will the lone cub do for winter if it doesn?t get back with its mom. Back in the old days, I put radio collars on several orphans and found that they made normal dens even though their mother would normally do most of that work. They survived over winter.

It was nice today to see a splash of yellow land on the railing outside my window. It was a very welcome goldfinch. I hadn?t seen one for weeks.Big Harry
Big Harry

Big Harry was good enough to pose for a picture in good light yesterday. His battle scars are especially prominent on his upper eyelids. The white skin showing above his eyes is from mange and will disappear as he molts and grows new hair over the next few weeks. The white skin showing on his shoulders is from molting that has begun. Bears vary a lot in their molting time and pattern. The white hairs on his forehead are from age.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone-  it is so nice here- 65 with a slight breeze- so pleasant.

Hubby identified out grayish bird that was making a nest in the tree by our porch- said it was a catbird. I haven't heard it talk but the book said it makes lots of different noises- one like a mew. I'll listen for that but i'm not good at  that.

Yes cal we have another uptick in ykw cases in our state.  I really miss the updates that our governor gave in April, May and part of June. The news just gives totals so i have to go to the state website to see the locations.  My friends from my class and i went to our local cafe for breakfast and coffee yesterday. We got a table in a separate room- had the room to ourselves- so we felt safe. Going to the grocery store early- old people's time- to get groceries.  We saw the news last night  too Florida and California in big trouble with ykw.  I'm really glad i don't have to figure out what to do with  the school schedule.  The towns that make up our school district haven't had many cases of ykw so maybe they will open.

I'd best get moving! Have a great day jewelies!

hi lupe i have a cat bird here it sits on top of big high pitch roof and yes makes all kind of noises and one like a cat. you will know it when you hear it. girls like to tell it off like they would have a chance of reaching it way up there and if they did would get their butts kicked. i have a baby red tail hawk back in pearls pasture parent trying to get it to fly over baby says no you come here. they baled the hay last night! big bales all over i could see it at 3 am so happy it is baled. i know florida really has a problem too. lots of states are my niece nicole upset not sure to do about her kids with school they are opening up so parent decides miranda who is 9 wants to go back to school she has trouble learning online needs to be in a classroom with a teacher and cydney who is 14 wants to go back too and nicole does not know how to homeschool but does not want to be a bad parent her mother would send them back to school she would not know how to home school either and she had to work single parent.  nicoles friend told her lots are homeschooling and she is sending hers back and since so many homeschooling few in the classroom. :) i dont know about the schools around here not said yet. i know missys daughter wants to go back sitting home all summer she is wanting to go back.  sounds like you safe at that cafe. nice you got to do that. been alot of shooting in kc mo the hood. police go down there but no one wants to talk. i heard president talking about the murders here going to send i forget who to stop it well good luck..
