Good morning everyone- yikes I slept in; was up at 1:30 and went back to bed at 3. So I think I got enough sleep now. Yesterday I walked for a total 0f 50 minutes then I went to class for 30. For some reason I was completely drained after a shower. didn't do much. A little more rain in the pm but as soon as it went through the humidity left and the temps dropped. 60 here now with not a cloud to be seen. Just a slight breeze too.

The racoons have been trashing my back porch and sidewalk and bricks. Last night they dug up a whole brick. Guess they didn't like the way they were laid out. lol Unfortunately they've been climbing in my big flower planters and digging up the annuals. Not good but at least so far I've been able to salvage the plants.

This morning i'm going to clean the shower and scrub the kitchen and bathroom floors. The older I get the more I dislike house work. Wish ra were closer!

cal- hope you get your mowing done. It always looks so nice when it's done. I drove by the full length of our ditch and the spiderwort is blooming- lots of it and it's gorgeous. I made the mistake of putting some in one of my beds which was a big mistake. I dug it out years ago and some still pops up here and there. Well- i'll finish my coffee and get to cleaning.

Have a great day jewelies!

But the big action was at the Bear Center as captured by "HappyCub" and "Taught by Bears". Ted cooled off in the stream, having a good time splashing and squirming and then making himself unrecognizable as he shook and twisted.

Tasha was by herself as Lucky spent quality time with Holly who has been his friend for years.

Chucky weighed in at 4 ? pounds and two hooded merganser ducklings put on an interesting show in the pond?all warming up for the opening on Monday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUfDO8lfYG4

good morning everyone- another beautiful day- 55 and no clouds. Yesterday was just perfect- cool in the shade and toasty in the sun. In the morning I got all my list done. Plus I scrubbed out the trash can and racoon litter pan/ swimming pool. While I was cleaning the shower I decided to get my recycling packed up too. So before I did the floors I unloaded all the books from my trunk. Then I sorted and packed up the recycling to take next week. Then I sorted various containers to return to people. And then I could scrub floors which dried nicely. We had a breeze with the windows open and ceiling fans on.

cal- your comment about trigger and needing a bigger horse was hilarious-lolol
So glad to hear the bear center is opening on Monday; ted looked fine shaking off. I watched him eat and he goes for the red, seedless grapes first then watermelon.

Sil's visit went fine after we got them to realize that the pic was coming out. They suggested she keep it in for another month when the next PET scan is scheduled. But she didn't want that. She likes to work outside and it was a pain keeping it clean. So out it came. She was much relieved. We noticed more traffic on the road now- things are opening up here.

spin class today after a 3 month lapse. Won't be pretty- maybe our teacher will take it easy on us. i'll just be glad to visit with all the young people again. Nothing planned for after class- i'll probably be wiped!

Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies! After a few days in the 90's today feels like a breathe of fresh air! In fact cooler temps thru most of next week! Finally got mulch today. Plan on putting it down tomorrow morning. Not much social distancing or mask wearing at Lowe's. Crow and I wore our masks and tried to social distance but there are some people that refuse to do that. I think everything but government ofc's are open now. Makes me wonder why the government is still having most of their employees work from home.  Pools opened, parks and playgrounds open, state fair next month is back on, baseball games and football conditioning training are happening. Stores are open and restaurants are open now but at 50% occupancy. It's like ykw is no longer a threat. I hope we aren't opening too fast.

Cal, great update pics! Like Dr Rogers mentioned visiting the old growth virgin forest, we have one in our state. It's a stand of old growth virgin hemlocks about 400 years old. It, too, was some how missed by the loggers that decimated our hills and mountains. It is protected now by the National Natural Landmark. What a cool way to spend an anniversary. I'm sure Crow would not think so! He would rather sit in front of the tv!  Another snake? Glad this one didn't bite you! How is your bite? I finally got in the pool on Tuesday. It was very hot and humid in the 90's. I floated around for about an hour. Later in the evening I turned lobster red! I'm still red and starting to itch. I used sunscreen but didn't reapply it after I got wet. I know better. Next time I will do better! I hope. How's your big bird bath? Did the cover fall apart?

Lupe, I have spiderwort in all my flower beds! A long time ago an elderly neighbor gave me a clump of them. I wish she hadn't! I fight with them every summer! I started to pull some of them up the other day but noticed the flowers were full of honey bees. So, I'll wait till the flowers fade and then pull them up. I also have a lot of soapwort, too. It's invasive, too. Hope you had a good spin class!

Have a nice evening! Stay safe! :)

hi jewelies it is 65 here 70 in the barn 5 raccoonies 4 babies and everyone coming up to me for a cookies something well i only had like ten cookies and two of pearls pop tarts cinnamon and brown sugar so got the dog food out in all the pans slipped a cookie to the one babies right there pulling my pant leg. pearl wanting  her grain and pop tarts. sweets ramming the door griz is barking and barking. i am happy the bear center be open i know ted will be too and sounds like a good plan on ykw.

hi lupe! i got alot of pearls pasture mowed yesterday and starting on the area on the other side of driveway it is large but not as large as the one in front of the house. just lots to mow here and got the house to do too. did not do the house yesterday mow and barn need to do laundry  i was upset thought fathers day was this sunday and i did not get jims dad a card but happy it is not it is the next sunday i think on the 26th of this month longest day then every day will get a little longer  :) winter will be coming back. i told jim you was heading back to spin class and he was very impressed i am too lupe.

hi rues! you got in the pool! my big bird bath bit the dust last year towards the end. all the liner torn up on the ground and the water leaked out just an empty bird bath now. just left it like that it helps keep the north wind off the patio and the patio doors there on walkout basement. i have water out other places. i heard about football back in august training starting up looks like a no go on baseball cant agree on money of course its okay looking foward to football it they can have fans. tennis is okay dont need fans to watch it. but football needs the fans. i know a spike in ykw people always going to be rude on stuff. so just keep wearing your mask do the best you can someone gets too close to jim he lets them know it.  that is so cool about your virginia hemlocks! hope your sunburn is better those are painful i have tons of poison ivy around here tons. i was cutting back tall grass around pearls outside ac coil no gloves but washed my  hands after working outside what a pain like i said winter will be back well at least colder temp good by mowing good bye poison ivy good bye heat and humidity not looking forward to fourth of july shooting off fireworks i thought alot of that was cancelled due to ykw maybe the ones on tv still are but some fools will be shooting them off here oh i hear a mouse up in the attic mr kitty here hears it too.

Good morning everyone- 58 here and a slight breeze. I went out a little after five to do some gardening and came in to get some water and realized it was 6 AM. So here I am. Peonies are done- it's really curious- the bushes had a lot of buds but the blooms weren't as big as usual. Usually the blooms cover the plant in solid color. This year- not so much. I could see green between the flowers. Must have been the weather. A few iris are hanging on but they need a serious thinning out. Need to take the shovel out to do that.

Well- spin yesterday was incredibly hard. Not only was it the first time in almost 3 months but we had different brands of bikes. One of our affiliate Y's opened a new facility June 1st and all their equipment is brand new so the other facilities got new to them stuff. So the angles of shoulders and hips seemed wacky plus there weren't enough ways to adjust for me. I'm sure i'll get used to it- my butt is super sore but that goes away too. The one feature I really liked was the tension was numerical. Our old bikes just had a knob to turn so it was easy to forget where you started.  However, I will admit I was in some discomfort  (pain) and thought more than once about quitting. At one point our instructor looked at me and I guess I gave her the stink eye. I'm not even sure what that is. But she said in 10 years that was the first i'd given her. lol

rues- glad you got in the pool; we are still wearing our masks even though my sil told me it was okay for me to get sick now since we are done with chemo. I listened to CNN a bit this morning- not good news on ykw. I am looking forward to football too.

cal- out little town has a huge 4th celebration and they cancelled it all plus the state fair got cancelled too. I think it's just too hard to enforce social distancing when there are large crowds.

So glad the bear center is opening- maybe I can talk hubby into a trip to Ely plus a stop in Decorah. Hmmm.

Well I better get back outside- have a great day jewelies!

You not only voted to give Ted the strawberry pi񡴡, Lucky the watermelon, Holly the star, and Tasha the ice cream, you gave $6,560 for bear food and had a good time doing it. Thank you!!

Last evening, a resident sent the first picture of Shadow I?ve seen this year.

Also, word is in that all three brown cubs are males: Fern?s one, and Pixie?s two. We?re still waiting to see if they molt into darker fur (possibly even black) later this summer.

Out the window, the red maple seeds that we saw as a female flower in early May and as small seeds in late May, are now mature and falling on June 13.
