Hi Jewelies!  Yikes... tornadoes all over the place tonight.  First one, north of me, second one near my daughter, but they're clear now, third one is maybe heading my way.  Hoping power stays on!  Winds have been calm for quite awhile... maybe I'll get lucky again.  Tornado watch until 10pm...

cal... Maybe Pearl is more of a baseball fan and doesn't care much about football!  lol

rues... Amazon delivery has been pitiful lately here, too.  My daughter has prime, so I had her order some cat food for me, thinking she'll get it before I would without it. You'll be busy, busy trimming Wednesday... if it doesn't rain!

lupine... Glad your trip with your sil went without any hassles.  One thing about ykw... we're getting a lot of yard work done!  lol

joho... Hope you're feeling better along with Joan, too.  So sad to hear you're having health issues.

Time to get ready to head to the hall pretty soon... comforter ready for me, Lily and Handsome to hide under.  Have a nice, quiet, safe night, Jewelies!

Sleep well, Jewelies!

Daily Updates
A Good Day - UPDATE April 25, 2020
25 April 2020
 Print Email
By last evening, half the ice had suddenly melted from Woods Lake out the window, the first lake in the area to have open water. Herring gull
Herring gull
By this morning, a loon and 3 kinds of ducks had found it. By this evening, the second day to have temperatures in the 60?s, all the ice was gone except a few little patches. The other lakes have barely started to melt. As they open up, more loons will shift from the open rivers to the lakes where they will nest, and mates from past years will find each other to mate again. Loons never nest on this little lake, it?s just an annual spring stopover, but they do nest in our bay on Eagles Nest Lake where the pontoon boat is.

The new male woodchuck that I thought we wouldn?t see again is a regular, trucking down the driveway to make his entrance each morning. He is so calm as he looks in the window. When I opened the door a little to throw out a piece of broccoli, he just looked, kept eating, and eventually went to the broccoli.

At the Bear Center Tasha checked out her old digs, (click here) (and here) and Lucky and Holly are a pair again, peacefully eating their bags of food together. Good camera work showed a woodchuck (click here) and a snowshoe hare (still mostly white) that somehow found their way into the enclosure again. Good to see them.

Last year, the first bear came here 55 minutes after midnight on April 26, which would be tonight. I?ll leave food out.

It was a big day for gulls?so many of the old familiar ones are back and up to their old tricks like knocking on the window, flying back and forth from the window to the feeding spot, catching bologna, and all.Loon

A nice surprise today was seeing the old To Tell the Truth program from 1973 that I?ve never seen. Peggy made it a project to get a link to it. Nobody looked like I remembered, not even me. It brought back a good memory of seeing New York and how it is behind the scenes of a TV show. I don?t know how it all came about. Thanks for finding it, Peggy. https://youtu.be/oTMSS163YlE

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone- 35 here and clear with some ground fog here and there. Yesterday was mostly cloudy- fairly dismal but I was out all day.
ra- you are right; I've not gotten the yard in such good shape at this time of year--ever! And today i'll pick my first asparagus. The bed is so pretty; I dug out gobs of grass that had invaded it and put a thick layer of mulch on it. Usually there grass growing in there too. I'm down to the last wheelbarrow full of mulch too. I have ornamental grasses growing behind the fence in the barn garden and I routinely mulch back there. Then I put big slabs of bark from our firewood pile on top of the edge of the mulch. It's just a slight hill there but when it rains it washes away the mulch on the edge so I put a line of the heavy bark there to hold the mulch in place. I hadn't re-done it
in probably 3 or 4 years and it was a mess. So yesterday was the day- after lunch I pulled off all the bark and put down mulch and then lined with old bark and put new on top. It looks really nice now.

I had a friend stop by yesterday to pick up some plants I had divided. We had a nice visit- social distanced outside. She brought me some scrubbies she makes. We use them to wash dishes. And she baked- little loaf of banana nut bread and some cookies. I just had some of the bread - really yummy.

ra- so glad you are okay; those storms are coming too close to you!

rues- that toaster oven- it just sits on the counter- right??

johoward- geez- I hope you guys are better; what a nightmare for you both. Let us know when you can. so much is unknown about the ykw. It will be years before they have it figured out.

Have a great day jewelies!

Hi Jewelies!  I just got an email from cal... from Jim's phone.  Their internet is out again and she wanted me to let everyone know that it might be a couple of days before she can get back here.  So... No worries.  I bet she's mad!!  lol

Very windy here today, but storms are done for a few days.  I've seen some pretty scary pics of the clouds that were around here last night before it got dark.  I'm looking forward to seeing the local news in a few minutes and seeing how all the towns and cities did last night.  Reports of egg sized hail are unbelievable!!  I've never seen hail even close to that big!  I'm still feeling lucky.  My daughter lives in a log cabin, so I think that helped them.  No damage at their house either.

Wish I had seen the bear at snowman's place, too.

Have a good evening, Jewelies!

Good really early morning everyone- Woke up at 1- misread the clock but was wide awake so I got up. Now i'm getting sleepy and hubby seems to have quit snoring so I may head back to bed.

I watched snowman cam but only saw a racoon- no bears.

Yesterday was beautiful here. Sat in the sun and read in the afternoon. It was a lazy day for us. One thing we have noticed while spending so much time at home is that more people are walking by our house. Some we recognize but some we have no clue. Good to see people out.

cal-i bet you are mad- no internet!! Geez louise!!!

I have a list of stuff to do today before the rains hit. We're not supposed to get much- maybe a half an inch. We are below average for this month so far.
ra- egg sized hail would do lots of damage. An't imagine.
Back to bed- sleepy.Have a great day jewelies!

Joan is in ER guys. Blood sugar was only 44 when she got up this morning. Later diarrhea hit again.  She passed out cold and fell forward off the commode this morning.
Squad took her in about 1pm.
Have not heard anything. Can't go see her.  She has my phone, but is not sure how to use it.
 She needs prayers bad now.
 God Bless
