hi everyone- got all my errands done this morning; the drilling company- backhoe guy called at 7:30 this morning and wanted to come then. I knew my hubby was in line to take his brother to an appointment at the U at 8:15 so they talked it over and decided tomorrow was good. They had another job they could do today. The bummer is I won't get to watch. My sil has her second chemo tomorrow and we leave at 7 AM. It is more important that hubby is here to turn water from sil's well off, etc.

Plus we are supposed to get Duke for an over night tomorrow. Hubby would be okay with him but guys will be in and out of the house all day- not good. Too much for the Duke. So i'll call his mom tonight and arrange to have them drop him off after I get sil home. Don't want to miss out on getting some duke time.

rues- wow- your tv problems are mind boggling.
cal- super windy here too. It's 46 degrees but doesn't feel nice.

I hope all of you are having a great day!

Daily Updates
New Buds, New Snow - UPDATE March 5, 2020
05 March 2020
 Print Email
New flower buds are now available on red maples for 2020, Red Squirrel eating Red Maple buds

Red Maple buds
and a red squirrel started its day by sampling them. It?s holding the twig it bit off from the twig just to the left and slightly below its body. When the buds open in spring, they also serve as bear food.

New snow adorns this deer that stopped by early this morning with more snow to come.

When the sun came out late this afternoon, the new mink emerged from her hole in the snow with a happy look?maybe wondering if I was going to be the bologna guy or the ground beef guy today.

Good morning everyone- 30 here and the wind is just dying down.
cal- another change in plans; our crew chief called right at 5 yesterday and asked if they could come Monday. Apparently the job they had lined up yesterday ran into some snags and they have to go back today. So hubby said Monday not a problem here. Yay- i'll get to watch and we can just enjoy the Duke!  His favorite container to pee on has been moved because it was right on top of where they'll dig. I'm going to be interested to see if he'll use it in its new location. lol

Yesterday on my way home from errands I came across 3 0r 4 bald eagles on the side of the road. One adult was sitting on the road on my side. I came to a complete stop as did the person coming from the other direction. I honked slightly and it finally flew off. There must have been something to eat to attract so many. I think the wind was blowing so hard that the eagle on the road couldn't hear the cars coming.  Whatever the food was I couldn't see it from the road. Stay in the ditch you guys!

Really loved the update photos- the critters look so healthy.

Need to get a move on- long day ahead- have a great day jewelies!

hi jewelies it is 32 here 51 in the barn furnace kicked in such nice warm air in there 3 raccoons.

hi joho!! yay everything is aok. i will take your blustery weather! we are suppose to have the winds back today but not like before i dont think. yesterday morning pearls left eye was shut and hurt her. i think when i threw her hay the night before it was really dusty got in her eye i was worried she may of poked it but she did not. huge relief there. i spent alot of yesterday trying to put eye medicine in her eye that is a huge chore. and while i had her tied to that front gate sweets kept ramming that back door of his upsetting pearl me yelling at him. her big fan is tied up against that wall. so i finally got it and had to do it 4 more times that day when i did it at 6 pm for the last time i notice her fan that big fan blade was off. thanks to that unruly goats ramming. jim went out and fixed it for me. saw her eye was half closed i said it was all the way closed. this morning her eye is perfect!! wide open all clear not hurting her i am so happy! got to go get more eye medicine this morning from dr harris. you were in the mood for fish i take it. we got some fisher boy fish sticks in the freezer. you could run up to lake erie go ice fishin. no dont do that leave the poor fish alone. you found your keys pretty fast! :)

hi lupe did duke get there okay and what happened with the backhoe man?

Good morning everyone- 28 here and wind from the southeast- not pleasant. Yes- YAY Duke is here.  He came when neither of us was here. Hubby left a Welcome Duke! note on the door and Duke's Mom left a note that Duke has been having accidents in their house. She left little panties to put on him. One was just a band design that went around his body. The other design had a larger width with a hole to pull his tail through.  I messed a little with the first one but I wasn't brave enough to try the second one- didn't want to try to get his tail through the little hole.  I take him out a lot and don't anticipate a problem. We just had breakfast- I was hungry for breakfast sausage and our local grocery makes their own and do not add sugar. It was a little frozen so I got it out and set it on the counter to finish thawing. Duke -however, thought it should be eaten right away. He sat on the floor in the kitchen and whimpered- truly. So I cooked it right away. We had sausage and eggs. He is sound asleep on his pillow now.

My sil's treatment yesterday was again very long. The last time we were there they told us the next treatments wouldn't take as long because she didn't have any adverse reactions to the drugs. We aren't sure what the problem was yesterday- maybe we had a slow nurse- maybe not. Anyhow we left at 7 AM and got home at 6:30.
We were both a bit grumpy and decided on the way home that next time ( in 3 weeks) we'll have a better attitude. Just plan on a 12 hour day.
I worried about Duke at home but he was sound asleep when I got home- and just happy as a clam.

Looks to be sunny today. Have a great day jewelies!

Daily Updates
I Had to See Ted - UPDATE March 7, 2020
07 March 2020
 Print Email
It?s been months, so on this sunny day in the 40?s and a path plowed up to his den, I had to do it. Ted
Ted
Ted made my day, and I think I made his. He was lying with his head at the entrance to his chalet so he wouldn?t miss anything. I couldn?t go in because two feet of heavy, crusted snow was holding the gate shut, but Ted heard my voice and immediately started his sweet grunts. He wanted contact. If I wasn?t coming to him, he was coming to me. He got up and started where snow was shallowest, grunting all the time. I saw the camera moving to follow him, so I knew that pond chatters were on it, but Ted
Ted
I don?t think we have sound up there anymore. Then Ted had no easy path. He tried to come closer but couldn?t at his age. He headed back to the comfort of his chalet, turned around and backed in, stopping in the entrance to eat bite after bite of snow. At the end of the second video below, he backed the rest of the way in, arranged his bowls, and lay down. Hearing his welcome and his desire to come near me made my day. Seeing him eating snow and arranging his bowls in his little home made me feel that he was contented. Spring is coming when more people will come up to see him. Then it's summer with crowds to stimulate him if he is not down at the pond soaking or at his preaching log observing.White-breasted nuthatch
White-breasted nuthatch

Taught by Bears did a great job capturing these two videos?the first one 2? and the second 5? minutes

Ted takes a little stroll - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bE4oz0o9OjU

Ted enjoys snow snacks and then goes "bowling"-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi37HFfGyQY

Out the window, with the snow thawing and freezing a bit each day lately, it has a hard surface that a white-breasted nuthatch can land on without sinking the tiniest bit.

Thank you for all you do.

good morning everyone- if it wasn't for my computer being so smart I would have missed the time change! The update was so heart warming- Ted responding to Dr. Roger's voice. I really, really wish there was a microphone so we could hear Ted too.

cal- I don't know how long Duke was here before hubby got home. He had his pillow under the kitchen table and I had put out his water bowl where it always is. I'm sure hubby shut the kitchen off so Duke only had the kitchen to be in. When hubby got home Duke was sleeping soundly on his bed. They both had hot dogs for lunch. It was probably less then 2 hours that duke was by himself.  No accidents here.  I thought he was going home yesterday but at bedtime we just went to bed. Duke's mom knows I go to bed early so she must have gotten back pretty late. Duke was sound asleep this morning on the bed snuggled up to hubby- so cute.

46 here with a little breeze.
cal- back hoe guys are scheduled for tomorrow; however, we have a 100% chance of an all day rain then. So they might want to put it off. That would be fine with us. Yesterday we worked on spreading out the sandy clayey stuff they pumped out of the well shaft. It was kind of thick in places and we didn't want it to kill the grass. I also cleaned up around my flower bed to get the stuff off some irises and sedum. The plants were greening up under there. I made piles of stuff and hubby shoveled into a wheelbarrow and dumped it. He also used the tractor to make piles. It looks pretty good now. The rain will help wash it too. Of course then the back hoe will make a different mess! Oh well!! (That is a really lame pun.) lol
time for breakfast-- have a great day jewelies!
