Good morning everyone- 40 degrees here but we got no rain overnight. We have our own water!! It took 2 guys just 4 hours to dig in the ditch and get the water and power to the pump. It was fun and a bit nerve racking to watch the excavator digging within a couple of inches of the house. The man who did that part has just about 20 years with this company. While he was doing that the other guy was in the basement drilling a hole through the wall and doing all the other stuff. Then the Ditch Witch got going. After all was hooked up and the power turned on they took some time to flush our the chlorine the well diggers put in when they were here. I'm kind of picky and this water is good. So glad.
Hubby spent the afternoon trying to push down the huge mounds of dirt(mostly clay) that were left on top. While he did that I took advantage of the warm, calm and trimmed back some ornamental grasses and bushes in the barn garden. Less than an hour for me- I learned my lesson last year and am building up slowly.
Hopefully we'll get some rain to help get the dirt to settle.  But I think we heard that snow is in the forecast for Saturday. That is fine by me.
time for breakfast--have a great day jewelies!

Good morning everyone- a chilly 40 here this morn with rain on the way. cal- we have snow forecast for Saturday also. wind later today to 30 to 35 mph gusts. all in all I think the next 9 days will be good ones to stay inside. I still have grasses to cut back but that can wait. Hubby worked on the piles of dirt on the grass outside. He got a lot done- the clay is really heavy- lots of moisture.

I did see some of the maples are budding out but it will be awhile before we see leaves. Even the moles are inactive. I'm hoping the noise from the machines the well drillers used scared the moles into the next county. I should be so lucky. lol The year we had the lawn rolled with a big commercial roller our local lawn care company used kept the moles away. I think the next  summer they were gone too.

today is basketball day - big 10 (which is really 14) tournament continues. Iowa plays Minnesota at 1:30. I haven't listened to the news as to whether the fans will be allowed in or not. I know the NCAA games will be very quiet. It's hard for me to grasp the effects the corona virus is having on the world right now. All the cities counting on income from sporting events and all the travelers staying home. The tennis tournament at Indian Wells being cancelled was a good decision- people from all over the world involved there.

So it is time for breakfast and maybe another cup of coffee. Still not used to my new schedule for classes. So far none of the rec center classes have been cancelled or suspended.

Have a great day jewelies!

Daily Updates
Corona Safe, Woodchuck, Lame Deer, Minks - UPDATE March 12, 2020
12 March 2020
 Print Email
With all the talk about Coronavirus, I?m glad to be safe in Ely with the nearest case over 200 miles away?only 9 in Minnesota so far?all in southern Minnesota.20200312 Mink Spot

Out the window, the first woodchuck was a little late for groundhog day. Mating season is coming up for them.

A red squirrel visitor was lactating.

The lame buck found a snow free spot where the sun had bounced off the cabin and melted it extra fast. He wasn?t putting a lot of weight on his left front leg and held it up as he nibbled grass.

Streak has been back the last couple days with no sign of Spot since this picture on the 9th.

Good morning everyone- hmmmmm-- I got up super early then fell asleep in my chair and woke up at 6:55. Went to meet my walking friend and then spin class. Got home and started a post then while I was taking a sip of coffee my computer decided to do a restart all on its own. Geez!!

Anyhow all is fine here. The rec center cancelled my senior strength classes next week. Their reasoning is that it's spring break and since there would be more kids around than usual in the morning it would be better not to expose the seniors. Or something like that. So glad that children don't seem to be getting the virus.
Have a great day jewelies!
