Good morning everyone- oh cal- so little sleep; you deserve a nap today. My Steelers lost so i'm glad the Chiefs won. Duke and I only made it to halftime. I even drank 2 cups of coffee around 5 PM and I still couldn't stay awake.
Yesterday was beautiful- 54 degrees in the afternoon- about 20 degrees above our normal. We went for a drive. We were going to take Duke along but even though he knew we had going away clothes on he came inside as we were leaving.  It took him all day to recover from entertaining on saturday I guess.  We heard an owl out this morning- so glad they are around here.

ra- the cupcakes were delicious; they always have new flavors and seasonal ones as well. You should have seen what was left of them- what a mess- a tasty mess though.

I'm running late today- guess i'll blame it on Duke wanting to go out.lol

Have a great day jewelies!

Nice Christmas card JP!  Yesterday we went down by the Turkey River and I took a few pictures.  It's starting to freeze above the dam, but then mostly open.

Hi Jewelies!  Rained all day again, but clearing coming tonight for a few days.

Nora... Thanks for the beautiful pics of the river and your Christmas card, too!  You and Joe haven't changed a bit since my trip up there in 2012!!  I hope you have a Merry Christmas, too!

cal... Nothing like having to deal with tv providers, is there, to get your blood pressure up!  Hope you have a nice time at CA's tomorrow!

lupine... What are your plans for the next couple of days?

Tomorrow night I have my daughter, her husband, and the girls for Christmas Eve dinner and presents.  On the menu is ham, turkey breast, mac and cheese, corn, green bean casserole, jello salad, cherry cheesecake, and pineapple upside down cake.  Then Christmas morning, it's up to their house with all of her inlaws for brunch.  I'm taking sausage balls and a new recipe something like monkey bread in casserole form and another cheesecake.

Hi to all Jewelies!  Happy Christmas Eve Eve!   :D

Daily Updates
Wolves and a Wonderful Sighting - UPDATE December 23, 2019
23 December 2019
 Print Email
Tracks showed that wolves were by today. The pictures show a track and where one of the wolves urinated in the snow a little to the left of the middle of the picture.

Mink Stripe

But that news paled at 3:30 PM when Stripe the Mink showed up exactly a month after she started making me worry by not coming. The last time I saw her before today was November 23. Today, she was the same as ever. She was good to come back at 4:08 PM for a picture, but she hid half her head for one and sniffed the lens to make only a blur for the other before saying she had enough bologna and wouldn?t pose anymore. She made my day. Winter is a little brighter.

Stripe?s appearance today gave me a little hope that Clear might show up again, too. Clear was gone over the summer and early fall and then showed up on October 25, the day before fur trapping started; and he hasn?t been seen since. The timing has me worried.

Stripe showed up shortly after trapping started and came regularly until November 23. I feel relieved to see her.

I?d like to see the old foxes, too.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone- it is 32 here and no wind. I'm watching the replay of Monday Night Football- Packers over Vikings 23- 1o with under 2 minutes left. Oh and the Iowa basketball score I gave was wrong- for some reason the iowa web site as stuck. The final was 77- 70 Iowa. Sorry i led you all astray.

Yesterday it was 53; Duke and I sat on the porch in the  sun. Had a neighbor stop by with treats for us. She recognized Duke- said what are you doing here Duke? Everyone in the neighborhood knows him. His Mom picked him up in late afternoon. Quiet here this morning. He is such a joy to have here every now and then.

Nora - ty for the pictures; how did you get that squirrel to pose?lol

ra- Your menu sounds yummy. We go to my nieces in town for Christmas dinner. I ordered a pumpkin cheesecake for dessert.

Time for breakfast -Have a great day jewelies!

I have to bake the pie (Mrs. Calendar's dutch apple) later on today for tomorrow being I have a real small oven and need it for the ham tomorrow.  Joe's nephew will be over again for dinner and MAYBE a gal I met up with that lives down the street.  She wasn't sure if she had plans for tomorrow or not, the granddaughter was at work.  I said just let me know, there's plenty to have you over too.

That was neat about the Mink, Stripe, coming right up to the camera.  Glad she's back.  I hope the other one and fox just haven't been around there.

Lupe sometimes I think some people in the neighborhood know us by Chester and not just us, ha!  I see dogs coming up the street and say "Oh there are the ones that have....."  ;D

I don't think the squirrel posed for me, I think he was hanging onto the little twig that was sticking up and debating if he was going to stay or take off.  It's one of the younger ones and he doesn't seem too sure about me yet.
