Merry Christmas - UPDATE December 24, 2019
24 December 2019

Here it doubly felt like a Merry Christmas. I think Stripe is back to stay. Mink Stripe

I don?t know what drew her away for a month, but today she made 21 trips for bologna to store under the front deck. That?s over 10 ounces for an animal that weighs 30-40 ounces. On one of her trips up the steps to the second floor deck, she paused for a picture and then continued up and past me.

Tonight it?s church with Donna and a quiet happy evening with presents. Tomorrow, a nice day together, so no update. Merry Christmas to all of you as we approach the end of another year of sharing our interests in nature and the bears that brought us together.

Thank you for all you do.

Merry Christmas everyone- cal- when I read your post I was sure your temp was wrong; so I just went outside and it is 44 here. Wow- so warm.  And I love your card- an old Victorian house, horses and snow!

neva- what a great message- so few words say so much. TY

I suppose i'll find a mess in the planter where I've put my bird feeder. When it's warm at night the raccoons come out. They've climbed up into the planter and dig around for food. Yesterday they dislodged all the bricks I had on top of the dirt to set the feeder on. What a mess. I don't let the feeder or the suet cake out overnight when it's this warm. At least I don't have to worry about any of the seeds going to waste. I'm sure the coons find all the leftovers.

I'm looking forward to noon meal today- good food and good fellowship with family. I picked up the pumpkin cheesecake yesterday afternoon- it looks absolutely wonderful.

Have a great holiday jewelies!

Hoping everyone is having a Merry Christmas!  We went to Robin's last night. Had our traditional Christmas Eve ham sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans and cookies! This tradition has been in my family since I was a little girl. Today we had Thanksgiving turkey dinner again! Crow was hoping we could change the menu this year, maybe prime rib, but Robin said it wouldn't be Christmas without turkey. So turkey it was! Lol!

Cal, Robin said she enjoyed the Star Wars movie. In fact she is going back to see it again, alone this time! I'm so happy Jim's dad liked the ballet! Robin and I are going Saturday evening to see ours. We got balcony seats this year. Hope I can see it better. Glad you had a good time at CA's! Sorry Jim at your meatballs! They must have been good! We were having problems with our internet. It was slow and buffered all the time. Crow decided we needed a new router (whatever that is!). Ordered a new one from Amazon, 2 day delivery. It took him all day to figure out how to hook that thing up. In the meantime, we had no internet. Gasp! I told him he had to get us back online because I had to do my advent calendar! He finally got it all figured out last night. Whew! The month went so fast. I wish the advent calendar would just keep going on and on! Yay, Stripe is back!

Ra, we didn't get any of that rain you got. It all stayed south of us. Today was beautiful and warm in the 60's. Tomorrow even warmer. Funny though, it gets so warm during the day but over night it's in the 20's! Frost this morning looked like snow. Sounds like some good eating over the holidays with your family!

Lupe, sounds like lots of good eating for you, too! The cheese cake sounds so yummy! I put seed in my feeders this afternoon and noticed that the hawk had a gotten a sparrow. I have to remind myself that he has to eat, too. But it is still sad. Sometimes I feel like I am chumming for him.

Nora, thanks for all your pics!

Jp and Jo, hope you are having a nice Christmas!

Thanks everyone for your Christmas greetings! Have a nice evening!

Great Christmas greetings all!  We were almost 50 up here today!!  Basically no snow.  It was great for walking Chester, but just not right for NE Iowa on December 25th!

Joe's nephew came over for supper and that went pretty well.

JP I hope you had a nice Christmas today!  I should have more time tomorrow and will work on catching up on your puzzles in the puzzle thread.

I can't keep my eyes open for some reason.  Guess I'll head for bed after taking the "kid" out for a last potty break.

Have a good night all..........

Good morning everyone- all the cards were great- ty Lori- 6 puppies and rues with the cardinals.
We had a good day- prime rib and ham were on the menu- the salad was arugula, roasted beets, goat cheese and roasted pecans with a vinaigrette dressing. Brussels sprouts for the veg and creamy potatoes. Everything was so good- some of my favorites.  The cheesecake was so good. We were all stuffed.
After dinner we did a naughty Santa exchange. We were told ahead of time to bring a book- new, used, a good read or a clunker. That was fun. We took numbers and chose a package- all were in bags or wrapped. You show everyone what you got. Then the next person chooses. If you didn't like what you got then you could take someone else's book. There was much trading and stealing. Apparently our family has lots of naughty Santas. lol

I'm looking forward to quieter times. Walking with my friend and class this morning.

cal- Duke probably got more treats for Christmas- I hope!  Is pearl okay. This weather is crazy. It's 45 here already and Saturday they are calling for soaking rain- maybe an inch. Geez-- it's December.

Nora- you were going to bed when my body was thinking of getting up!!! I managed to wait until 3AM.

rues- we have a hawk here infrequently to try for the little birds but I've never seen them catch anything. I know- Everything needs to eat!

Have a great day jewelies!

Donna and I had a quiet time eating, walking, looking at tracks, catching up on things.20191226 Chickadee
Chickadee

At the WRI, Stripe emerged from under the first floor deck but did not come up for bologna from us. She probably has a lot stashed already, and might have been hungry for something else. It was Christmas, after all. She headed out?maybe to catch mice.

This chickadee that looked in the window today has a single white feather over its right eye. It?s one that will sit on my hand. It?s only one day after Christmas. I should have still had enough Christmas spirit to go out. I?ll do better next time.

Thank you for all you do.

Good morning everyone- oh cal- such good news about pearl!! so glad.  Your day was very busy yesterday. And  you got your tv fixed just in time for all the football games. We are looking forward to the Iowa game tonight at 7 PM. Since it is the last one I am going to stay up. Then tomorrow it's Iowa State at 11 AM then the top four play. Looking forward to those 2 also. Will be cheering for Ohio State- sorry ra.

I made a comment in class yesterday about our all day rain on Saturday and someone said- well- we don't need to go out- watch football all day! Just make sure snacks are plentiful. We got a bag of chex mix from one of our neighbors and hubby said to save it for the game. I have a few more goodies in mind too.

I went to target yesterday afternoon for just a couple of things- I don't know why I thought there wouldn't be anybody shopping. Then I realized while I was in line to check out the cashier asked everyone if they had gift cards to use. I never thought about people getting gift cards. Oh well- they had lots of help and even the traffic wasn't bad.
Have a great day jewelies!

Hi EV1 Good to hear about  Pearl's relief.  Thank you God and mineral oil.
Worst Christmas ever here.  We did get a little fun in the late evening, when Debbie brought our grands and great grands over for a while.
Mostly though just pain and suffering on Joan's legs and hand.  She is not able to stand or rise if you can imagine what that is like. No walking either.  She is getting weaker every day.  Her pain meds do not seem to work, and she has to wait 8 hours in between pills.  It is just awful here.
So I don't want to post.  Just too sad to broadcast it.
She needs anti inflammatory, but her diabetes goes to 600 when she takes it so she cannot take it at all.  She needs pain relievers so she can stand, but they don't work so she can't stand or walk, and is getting worse every day. I don't see a good future.
Prayers are needed for her.
God bless you all.  Thanks for posting all those wonderful cards.  Lots of computer talent on here.  Bye now.

Hi Jewelies!  Still nice here... sunny and warm.  Yesterday I took my tree down and put all the decorations away.  My house feels so nice and big now!  lol  I've been looking at a new cabinet for my dining room to put some of my pottery in.  I really don't need it, but....  lol  Still thinking about it.  I found one I like online that isn't quite tall enough, but I can get some legs to make it a little higher.  We'll see.

JoHo... So glad to see you here!  I've been worried about you and Joan.  So sorry to hear she is having such a hard time.  Hard on you, too.  Glad you had visitors to brighten your Christmas a little.

cal... You should have been a vet!  You do so well fixing up your "kids"!  Pearl was lucky when she got you.  Glad she's doing better now.  I didn't go shopping yesterday like we usually do, I always got a new jacket and I have too many already.  I have to work this evening for a little while,so will miss part of the MSU game that comes on at 3:20.  Getting excited for tomorrow's games!  Go Tigers!

rues... Sounds like you had plenty to eat for Christmas!  lol  I'm sick of leftovers already!  Wish I could send some to cal!!  lol  Clemson grand is house sitting for the young woman who cuts our hair for a couple of days.  I haven't seen a lot of her... I thought maybe I would, but she's keeping busy with friends home from college for the break.  Youngest grand's boyfriend joined us Christmas morning with the rest of the family... nice kid and friendly.  I gave him a bunch of Reese's candy... I heard that's his favorite and he smiled and smiled when he opened the bag!  lol  Cute!

Hope everyone is doing good!  Hi to all!
