good morning everyone- thanks jp for the old kitchen teddies, luna and the yorkie with the  flowers on her head-cute
cal- I hope you enjoyed your escape to the grocery store- it's good to get a respite from the routine. The tree  pic from yesterday was across the gravel road we drove in on. No paths there. We figured the roll over happened before we got there- didn't meet anyone walking- he would have flagged us down. It is a tradition that we rescue at least one person on each trip. We remarked about how years ago we had just gotten into our tent in a primitive site on a pass near Ouray when we heard  "Hello in the tent." Well- there was no one else around- so we said just a minute- got up and there were 2 people who had rolled their jeep- they were okay and the jeep wasn't blocking the road. We hauled a bunch of stuff out of our vehicle and put it in the tent so we'd have room for them and took them into town. We went into the motel with them- weren't going to leave them if they had no rooms. Got them settled and we headed back to camp. Late, late night for us.
Thanks for the picture  of D30 catching a fish- just imagine the coordination it took to do that,!!

Rues- I don't know if that guy who rolled his truck swerved to miss an animal but he could have- much wildlife around.

We were camped at the LakeView campground in Taylor Park. Most summers it is very hard to get a place here but since the Cottonwood Pass is closed traffic is down. Our camp host told us there was a sighting of a mountain lion and a sighting of a bear in another site in our campground. We told her we are bear aware. The people made noise and the bear left- nothing seen for 2 days. We actually took our bear spray in the tent with us the 2 nights we camped there. Both of us slept soundly so we weren't too worried.

This day Monday July 23,2018 was quite an adventure- I need to check photos and will post a little later.

Have a great day jewelies!

Took me 10:38 to try to find out where on the back of the truck the blinky thing was and I never did.

Hi all!  Thanks for the birthday wishes, it was a nice day yesterday.  We went to the International Owl Center up in Houston, MN.  Karla was giving a talk I'd head before, but love it.  She sure knows the different Great Horned Owl hoots and can imitate them absolutely super.  Then for supper we went to Joe's cousin's house and the ones that hadn't gone home (we sort of skipped the family reunion they had in the park behind us :) ) and had pulled pork sandwiches and yummy stuff.

Sorry you've been hurting JP!

Lupe, you guys are having a fantastic trip!!!!  Checked the map to get a feel where these places are.

That picture of Quill got me to thinking again, has anyone SEEN Quill anymore?  Hope he did ok.

There's been a lot of planes flying around this morning, it was the annual fly-in breakfast at the little airport here in town.  Oh that's right, Joe had said he wanted to go up to the small park up town for the art show thing, suppose we better go.

Good to catch up on everyone, the bears, and say hi.

Good morning everyone- ty jp for the bear trio, jewel in her tub and wonderful Monday- I think those little blue flowers are forget me nots. cal- it is storming here now- checked radar and we probably won't get much but i'll sure take what we get. Cal- it would be a good idea to take jim or some one with you to the doctor. it's been my experience that the patient doesn't always hear everything that the doctor says or in one case misinterprets what the doctor says.

Nora- how wonderful to go to the Owl Center- must put that on my list- I heard Karla speak at atf last year- she is a hoot herself! One thing I don't think i'll ever hear my hubby say is he wanted to go to an art show.lol You're lucky!

The 23rd of July was quite an adventure- nit planned and not one to repeat- we started with a breakfast burrito at the marina caf? with coffee. Very yummy. Then we drove to the end of the road where the trailhead to Mt. Tilden is. Only 36 years ago that sign wasn't there and I had no clue where this trail led back then. I was living in Gunnison and aftervwork one day I needed to go to the hills- couldn't believe i'd driven this far but I was younger then. I could tell it was going to rain so I left my  hiking buddy in the car. She was a Siamese cat name of Daz-i. I wasn 't going to go too far and part way in I met this guy coming back out- we talked about the trail, etc. Long story short- we got married 2 years later in Taylor Park.

We didn't hike up the trail- from the photo you can see the water in the stream was high- higher than we wanted to walk through- hard to dry boots out. The road pic is very smooth for gravel but dusty  but not much traffic. The marmot with baby is so cute- we watched her by herself for  awhile then her baby cuddled under her chin. Marmots are often called whistle pigs by the locals. They kind of look like a pig and their whistle is really piercing. I like them. First time i saw a baby. The hawk i think is a Swainson's hawk- not sure and i couldn't get a better piucture. We were in the car and i was shooting across out my  with zoom. He was really being ragged on by a robin of all things. When he flew off the robin went after him.

Took me 3:07 to see what jp meant!lol
The second half of our adventure ended fine and safe but there were moments.. Driving back from the Mt. Tilden trailhead we decided to see if we could get to Reno Divide from the east side. Remember we were planning to get into Taylor Park from Cement Creek but the over turned truck blocked our way. The first picture shows just how rocky the road was- no problem- hubby is really good at this kind of driving- I think he really likes the challenge! However- in  the second picture shows hubby out to reconnoiter- really bad-tall rocks. He moved some rocks to build up a ramp in the worst part then went for it. I was out on the road and it was scary to watch. Then we saw another place equally bad ahead. Decided to turn around- not easy- ujphill on one side and way downhill on the other. I stayed outside so we could get every inch forward and back. We got around and headed back to the bad place we just came up and there was our spare tire laying in the road. It was mounted under the car and the support thingie just got ripped off on the way through.  We were extremely fortunate that it didn't roll off the road- would have been lost forever- or we wouldn't have realized we lost it until we needed it.!!! Hubby checked under the car and the gas tank had also been pushed up and anch and a half. Luckily- hubby had put in a new tank about 2 years ago when we needed a fuel pump. Old rusty tank would probably have started leaking.

So hubby loaded the tire in the back and just as he got in to go back over the rough part the engine stopped.  After some thought(I just kept my mouth shut and let hum work it through) hubby decided we were on such a steep hill that the fuel pump which is located in the far back of the gas tank, was not getting any gas. So we just happened to have starter fluid to spray in the carbeurator. Car started right up and we didn't waste any time going down hill. Engine quit one other time but we coasted to a level spot and it started back up. Phew! It would have been a really long walk to get help and very expensive to get a tow. We were really ljucky and other than the gas tank holding a gallon or two less than it did before- no other problems.

lupe i was reading your first post and saying i sure am having fun on this ride. love the pics that baby is cute! i noticed on the sign i could ride pearl but not my bumblebee. long ago our plaza has an art show every year and jim and i went. too far now hard for us to walk. cool story on meeting and marrying there. this hubby now or a first one? then i saw your second post scary rocky road lupe! i would not ride pearl on it or bumblebee! scary turning around on it and engine stopped i want to go home! man lost your spare but found it yep laying in the road. good you had a new gas tank. my dads friend had a place around here. wild blue yonder it was called we ride by it when we ride our four wheelers. funny went there as little kids from kansas are we there yet? road was real rocky then better now but we had a thunderbird sat really low and tore off the oil pan. dad was not happy. but he was happy gas tank intact. i sure am happy hubby coasted it down and got us out of there!  :) i know lupe jim wants to go make sure dr good understands how bad my toes are but i believe i can stress that myself. i would like for him to watch the puppies really. i will be stressed out wondering what all they are tearing up. if that dr hurts me touching it and it will hurt jim will be giving the good dr the look! not a pretty look either.  i can hardly wait for next day of the trip! good there are cell phones now!
