Saving California condors - How citizen scientists and biologists are working together to help the endangered birds

http://scienceline.org/2016/01/saving-california-condors/

Attention, citizen scientists! The California condors need your help!

The California condor is a critically endangered species and the population is suffering from the effects of lead poisoning. By tracking the location and social behavior of the animals we can better detect early warning signs of the illness.

Texas man charged with killing endangered whooping cranes

http://www.khou.com/story/news/local/animals/2016/01/15/texas-man-arrested-killing-endangered-whooping-cranes/78833816/

T40, I hope you don't mind that I'm going to share this post of yours in the Forum's thread for the Operation Migration Whooping Cranes. at:
http://www.raptorresource.org/forum/index.php/topic,2047.msg454330.html#msg454330

I am beyond angry about this!  I don't care how young this person is who shot and killed these 2 Whooping Cranes, he better get an active prison term out of it as far as I'm concerned... The story says the max he can get is 6 months, and I hope he gets sentenced to a good portion of that, and has to serve it.  Someone has to start having the guts to enforce such laws!  What good are these laws without enforcement?
