BL, What do the numbers 1 2 3 mean above the pine trees?

And btw no Elk or herds were seen last Autumn. Not one. Darn it.

Paulie Just visually labeled reference points above the pine trees as seen from this camera.

In the region where your cabin is in, they the Elk, are notoriously shy, shadowy and cyclical especially so with the topsy turvy Fall and Winter weather of the past decade.    :-\

That's why I still smile so hard at your front row elevated porch Eye to Eye with the Guy.    8)

Magnificent Deer they are.

Pip, Kopje and I are Libating in front of one heck of a masterpiece of a fireplace on Mount Desert Island, ME.

6th generation right here.

Papa Smurf the proprietor of this joint, 3 boys same age as us 3 boys from same place in NJ.

His white chin whiskers and mine don't you know.
Huge hugs.
It's been too long a time old man.

Lightly toked a joint with us at the beach 'cabin'.
A 30' crows nest of windows sitting right on the Atlantic.

Watched the whales a blowing sea mist in the distance.

The entire home was engineered and constructed around it's locally quarried stone fireplace.
This home is expansion and contraction built.

If anything in nature can take this house out in 150 years it takes it.

This hearth will be around for hundreds of more years long after the wood bones are gone.

I pondered that for 1/2 a whiskey second and did not doubt it as fact.

Good Morning Beakers! CATURDAY!

Lani, your body needed the rest, sometimes you just have to give in.  Hope you're not coming down with something! We'll see you this morning!

Phyl, I hope we see you this morning!  You are starting to worry us!

BL, your adventures are endless!  Mount Desert Island looks like a beautiful place (googled it)!  Looks like it's close to Acadia. We know you are having a great time! And sometime this year, a trip to Crater Lake!

Paulie, yes, waiting for Spring! It's what we do all winter...  ;D  I usually get Eggland's Best XL eggs at Walmart, they haven't had any at all for the last 3 weeks. Walmart brand $9.12 for 18. Our Hy-Vee grocery hasn't had any EB for several weeks, but I never get them there, they were much higher than Walmart.

tsk, wow on the eggs! And they are not something you can hoard for too long! There was even an egg heist!   https://www.msn.com/en-us/crime/general/ceo-speaks-out-after-40k-egg-heist-in-pennsylvania/ar-AA1yBFvr?ocid=BingNewsSerp

Big Bear Eagles - Jackie and Shadow - Third egg arrived yesterday!

Clynn  Always love mountain/snow/ sunrise-sunset pics. . .

Not clear to me who did the time lapse pics of the burial of the Crater Lake cabin?  Reminds me of my Rockies.  Ashes-to-ashes dust-to-dust already in my will when I leave this earth.  It's set in my will along with my other 4 spots.

paulie At least once a week, mostly twice, I have a "hardboiled" egg (actually nuked).  My first thought, 2or 3  jumbo everyday is a lot of cholesterol.  My problem is to find extra large at least - otherwise it's only like 2 bites.  What I find in our area markets is the lack of jumbo - at least 4 bites per egg.  Bought a carton of jumbo last week at Jewel, tsk.  $6.59.  Mostly impossible to find - Mariano's more frequent.

Nothing good happening in the way of weather around here.  Some mention of snow flurries, highs around 30, lows in low 20's for the whole week.  Nothing great - but nothing threatening.

GOOD CATURDAY MORNING EVERYONE

BL  Can't imagine being in that  :o    SWE interesting - Always estimated 1 foot of snow to 1 inch of water.  Not so I see. Would love to see a photo of that fireplace!!!!

KAREN   If I needed eggs that bad I'm sure our Walmart/ Butera would be cheaper.  Believe me the case was full and don't think people will be buying them at that price.  Unfortunately the restaurants, bakeries etc need them.

PAULIE  Always happy to see you drop in.  Wow, that is a lot of eggs hubby eats  :o.  I always hard boil  a few for Tim so he can snack on something protein vs carbs  LOL   He likes an egg salad sandwich too  :)   Well you can hope that your flu was a mild version of the worst possible.  I sure am on the lookout for that Norovirus - uggs from what I have heard from one of my friends who had it.

LANI  Now THAT  is tired   LOLOL

CLYNN   Darling kitties in their fall snugglies  :)   Yes the egg heist made the news.   Here's hoping for Jackie and Shadow.  EAGLE sofa  :o :o :o :o

Good Morning Beakers.....It's Caturday!

karen - LOL, on the bakery business.  I would be eating all the merchandise.  :)

tsk - We got to keep everything, but the scissors and lil tool.  I noticed yesterday in grocery that the brown eggs are cheaper than white eggs.  Cozy kitties this morning.

BL - That snow...wow!

paulie - Glad to hear you are feeling better from the flu.

Lani - Sorry about your post last night.

clynn - Cute Caturday pics.   Yay for Jackie & Shadow!  I hope they have a good season.  The eagle couch, wow.

Puff - Stay warm.

kb, tig, oldguy, and all - Morning  :)

some bounce

I could still see the sidewalk cracks at 6 a.m., but another 6 hours of fluffy snow expected. I'll work on taxes after breakfast and head outside this afternoon and more clean up tomorrow. We expect around 3 to 4 inches on this side of town.

Jim here...

Sorry, Phyllis asked me to post this Thursday. I got busy with work and her.

Wednesday Ortho Doc said Bursitis. Aspirated 15ml of blood from knee. Sent it off ofr test
Big blood clot is left at base of knee. Suppose to dissolve n time
Ordered to stay off knee , elevate and ice  until next Wednesday's Doc visit.  Next Tue3sday 4:30pma scan  of right knee.
She's have a tough recovery for some reason. Told  she cant sit at desk with out elevating. So far she can’t figure out how to do that with this desk.
I've been peeking inhere  having a look around from time to time. Is that 'okay' ?

Says to remind  she's always logged in  24/7.  Whatever that means.

Have a good one.

Hi Jim! Welcome to the Beak! And many thanks for letting us know how Phyl is doing.
I'm very sorry she's having a tough recovery, but relieved she's taking extra care of elevating her knee and continuing to ice... extra TLC is always needed.

Please stop in anytime, and give her gentle hugs and our prayers.

Take care
Lani

tig & kb - Stay safe and warm.  We saw a few flakes heading back from the store, and not seen any since. Looks like an icy mix coming later this evening, if that doesn't change.

{{Jim/Phyl}} - Thank you for the update on Phyl.  Gentle ((hugs)) for her.  I hope she is resting.  Please let her know we are thinking of her.

Lani - Morning  :)

LISA   Like the cute white kitty  :D  WOW  Brown eggs cheaper - I'll need to check - That would be a first for here.

TIG  I do think the worst of the snow will be way north but supposedly an advisory here for later this afternoon.

PHYL    Jim, you are a sweetheart!!  Thanks so much for the update on Phyl.  She sure is having a rough time and am sure it is killing her to be so inactive.  Prayers for you both and take care of yourself too.

LANI   And there's our spring robin  ;D

Just finished a pot of split pea and meatball soup for dinner.  Made the meatballs yesterday to save some standing time.

Happy Caturday Beakers!
Morning Eagles4, Lisa, Ezee, Eburg, Weasel, Jilltosa, Kb, Tsk, Karen, Oldguy, Puff, Eaglesrock, Emyrauld, Lilbro, Blschue, Lori, Clynn, Tig, Baz, Phyl, Peep, Jaspurr, Pink, BL, Bggolden, T40, ssrl, Maxie, Nrstooge, Paulie, jicaji, LB, and All!

Clynn, I stopped reading Stephen King books or watching any of his movies over 20+ years ago. Mike got tired of my nightmares waking him up in the middle of the night! So, no more horror movies for me. Just the old classics.... gorgeous basket! ... beautiful Caturday pics.... I pray nothing but sun for Jackie and Shadow. No more snow. I pray for a successful season for them.  :-* ... awesome eagle furniture.

Lisa, Beautiful Valentine cookies and they look yummy!

Tsk, dz eggs cost between $7.99 - $9.00 here. Walmart has the best selection of eggs at fair prices....

Paulie, Glad you're okay after having the flu.. I don't know if I have the flu, my body has been tired lately.... Like your hubby, I love eggs every morning for breakfast (poached). Mike doesn't like eggs, so they last me 2 weeks or longer... We buy 2 cartons Jumbo at Walmart for $9.00+, EX L in box of 18 is available too.

BL, Mount Desert looks like a beautiful and adventurous place to visit... lots of fun islands to explore too... looks like we may have rain this next week. Talons crossed.

Puff, that's a great price for Jumbo eggs!

{{{Tig, Kb}}} Take care

Royal Albatross ~ Dad RLK Returns At Night! GLG Leaves & Returns For Short Visit Before Departing 2.7.25
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQEG12TYMRc

Feb 7, 2025
RLK is seen returning to his nest late at night (21:52). GLG awakens and gives him a beautiuful skycall greeting! He sits next to her for a couple of minutes - she will get up for the changeover rather quickly this time at 03:06. She stays for a few extra minutes before walking out of view. Apparently she did not leave the island as she came back at 05:56 this morning! She greets RLK but he does not get up - he is happy to be brooding their chick. So she walks to the left and then to the right and out of view. I think GLG did not want to leave her new baby yet!

I included some footage from early morning with RLK and SSTrig chick waking up at 09:25! Cute little tiny wingers already!! Thank you for watching!

📌 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝟏𝟎 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐚𝐦  (2024-2025)
Nest site: Signal Station Trig. Taiaroa Head, New Zealand

Royalcam Couple: RLK (Red, Lime, black) 12-year-old male and GLG (Green, Lime Green) 14-year-old female.

Egg laid:  November 11th 2024. It has been candled and is fertile. RLK and GLG will take turns to incubate the egg for 2.5 months.
Egg hatched: January 28th 2025

This pair started breeding in 2019/20, but their egg failed that season. They successfully raised two female chicks during 2021 and 2023 respectively. Their nests during these seasons were not far from the Royalcam nests of Tiaki and Manaaki and the chicks were seen on cam later in the season.
