Happy Birthday Aly!

Lisa, thank you for posting for karen! Are the kitties used to the new floor by now?  It was a cold day here, it made it all the way up to 5, but we have no snow on the ground!! Those warmer days we had last week melted all of it.

karen, I m so glad that beautiful juvie was rescued and is doing well! He just needs to hitch a ride south!

Puff, bitter cold, but it looks like a gradual warm up again! Crazy weather...

Lani, sweet little Jewish bulldog!  Sad that Aly has to leave Oregon, that was a crappy new policy to put in place. I bet she's not the only one in a bind with it!

tsk, Sophie is intrigued by anything new that comes into the house. So we call her the Inspector General, she thoroughly goes over everything!  Sam wanted out on the deck so bad but I told him no, it is too dang cold!

Lori, thank you for the lovely remembrances of Ted, and loved seeing Honey as a cub! Love all the pictures, and the yummy cake for Aly!!

kb, WOW on the ice sculptures!

BL, what are you up to in CA? I just knew that one was you in the picture!

We had a surprise this morning when we assisted one of our pure Lleyn ewes give birth - we were expecting 5 lambs (not overly uncommon for our flock)
but she was actually carrying 7, a Septuplet! A first for us anyway!   Credit: James Dugdale

Clynn - I think the kitties are use to new floor now.  We just had snow for about 2 hours.  It looks like about an inch. Awww, the lambs!

BL - After I asked, which one was you, I noticed the boots, and figured that was you.  I should have deleted my post.

Good night, everyone 😴

LANI   I was wondering if rabbi Ruff would show up in the Beak  ;D ;D ;D    Thanks for the update on Aly.  Nice that she is with friends and likely getting the scoop on San Fran.  "Here we go again"  Prayers that it is a smooth transition.

PUFF  4 degrees  now as I type but did get to 7 today  ;) ;)

LISA  Quite a work of art for Aly  ;D   Thanks for posting KAREN's clip on the rescued Alaskan eagle.  Quite an anomaly but like they say you never know how it got to that state.

BL  Wow only you and Beak left.  Treasure that!

CLYNN  I may borrow that name " Inspector General" for Lulu.  Her nose works overtime.   WOW  7 baby lambs and they all look really good.  :D

Clynn I'm assisting in the disaster recovery efforts. Wildfire, GIS mapping, disaster and forestry experience .. etc.

My dear friend and comrade Tank was on vacation in Europe when these "LA Fires" started and was very gracious to lend me the use of his home in Malibu. He said just don't burn it down for crying out loud.   ;)

Several homes around his are leveled from the Franklin Fire in December of 2024.  :(

Puff, yes, it was a good day to be indoors... very cold here too... great football games!

{{{Karen and Piper}}} keep warm and be snug in your home these next few days... it's going to be low 20's here for the next four mornings. I'm sure the "feels like temp" will be colder.
LOL! Chiefs will be in the game.  8)

Lisa, Aly's birthday cake post would make a great puzzle. Glad the white round one worked....

Lisa, Karen wonderful story about the juvie eagle rescue/release... Hopefully, it will be able to handle the rest of the winter months.

{{{BL and Beak}}}, great pic of you and bros. ... Say Hi to Aly!  ;D .... take care during your time helping in CA.

Clynn, every final year apprentice working in the mental health system in Oregon is involved. They are forcing them into a non-profit system for another two years if they want to work in Oregon. Aly has spent over the last four years working for non-profits. She can't earn enough to live on her own working for non-profits.... oh my, that poor mama sheep is going to need extra help feeding those beautiful babies. They will probably see if mothers who lost their lambs will foster.... sweet good night pic.

Tsk, Inspector Lulu  ;D  Aly is also looking towards the mid-west, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri. But, she's definitely leaving Oregon.

Phyl, We're starting to see Robins around our feeders, along with the Dark Junco. The Bluebirds seem to hang out further in the forests. Every now and then I'll see a couple fly about between the large oaks. I always tell them I have 2 nice bird feeders.  :-\

Good night!

Good Morning Beakers!

tig, 0 degrees here, high 8. Brrrrr!

Lani, stayed in all day yesterday, probably the same today! I have 4 cities tagged at TWC so I can see the current temps at a glance, WDM 0, Rockville TX 20, Corvallis OR  29, Albion IL 3. Pretty darn cool for TX!  So Aly has been working on the final requirement year at non-profits and now they have added two more years to the requirement in OR? That stinks! That afghan in your good night pic is very 1970ish!  Love it!

BL, you are doing good, be careful and know that you are very much appreciated. I just cannot imagine the hell you are seeing. I keep praying that those folks will get the help they need and deserve. People are people, all deserving help in dire times...

Phyl, I did get to see the Joshua Tree Forest in the late 90s, Ed's sister Gina won a trip to Palm Springs and took me as her guest! Very unique and strangely beautiful!

tsk, Sophie will be glad to have a Sister Inspector General!  I am still finding the little red-headed LOL doll around the house but have never yet caught her carrying it off!  I call her Red, her hair is getting more and more unruly!  :o :o

The baobab tree, commonly known as the “Tree of Life,” is indigenous to the African continent, as well as certain regions of Australia and Madagascar, and is capable of living for thousands of years. Its scientific name, Adansonia digitata, honors the French botanist Michel Adanson, who documented this remarkable tree in the 18th century.

Not sounding good for your weather tig.  Not good at all.

Our temp this morning is -4.  But, tonight (-9) is the predicted low, and predicted high tomorrow is 1.

My plans/recommendations - warm tea, hot chocolate, chili, and lots of historical TV (Trump, AO, football).  Keeping warm and indoor is the plan for lots of us today.   :-\

I've also decided to attempt doing a hair washing.  Since the first week in December's fall I've had only 3 hair washings.  Now the itching is out of control.  My usual routine is every other day.  I could scream.  I mentioned before about my neighbor, a beautician, but with a pain-in-the---- husband.  I don't want to cause trouble because of time used to wash and dry, 10 minutes?  And, I've been trying to set things up with my own, regular lady.  Found out Friday she has a hernia - and she's filled in her schedule getting time scheduled for all the regulars, for her surgery and rehab.  So, I found out Friday I can get into car and drive to Jewel, get some needs.  A few people have been helping with vitals the last few weeks.  It was nice weather and felt good for the change.  Tried finding a temp  beautician to fill in for a few minutes twice a week?  No, let me try a one-handed attempt.

Problem with car is not the getting in and out or steering; BTW, but it does take several minutes to click into the seatbelt.  Asked around - and decided to use my friend's idea her pregnant daughter (twins) tried.  Not legal I know - but I've never run into any accident issue is my excuse.  I've asked retired cop next door (Michael) and two mechanic friends - they say it should work.  Before getting into seat, buckle the seatbelt and let it lay behind your butt on the seat.  I'm game, maybe Wednesday - three MD appointments the end of this week.  It will save me the R/T transport time & $ and give me fresh air.  Has anyone on here ever done the seatbelt trick or heard about it?  Did it work?  Did you get caught?

Well, that's enough complaining - thanks for the time to vent.  Keep warm. Hugs

Currently -2 and heading to a whopping 8 degrees today.

BL  Boy, Tank is so lucky his home has been spared and that you have a place to stay while assisting.  God bless your efforts and stay safe.

LANI   ((((Aly)))   Nasty trick for Oregon to play!  Don't blame her.  She is destined for something better.  :-*   Now that goodnight pup knows what side his bread is buttered on  LOL

CLYNN   Look at that squirrel in the hummer feeder  :o :o :o    WOW  That baobab tree is a new one for me. Think of what the world was like thousands of years ago and who might have walked past that!

PUFF    I've not tried that seat belt trick but it makes sense it should work.  Hope you don't have far to go.  Steering tho Hmmmmm

Well at midnight last night was awakened by the chirping of our upstairs smoke detector.  All new ones 2 years ago guaranteed for 10 years   In Nov of last year the basement one was replaced.  Now two months later another one.  Will call electrician this AM.  So got the ladder out , unscrewed it off the plate and had to google again how to "unlock" the battery box.    ::)   This is such a frustrating problem in this house.  I'm so sick of this.
