Wow!  Talon will have fun with some of these cards and cakes!   I want  a piece of Old Guys cake, when someone cuts it!
No plumbers today!  All ended up in big jobs that got bigger instead of short jobs  that got taller.  Tomorrow at 19!  Supervisor coming!

Thank you all for the COOL birthday cakes and wishes for Talon! I will show them to him when he is here tomorrow!

Dr. visit fine, I am still alive! She was very pleased with my A1C (5.2) and that I have lost 20 pounds. BP still a wee bit higher than she would like but not enough to up the meds. So I am happy!

Puff, one of my favorites of Jeanne Robinson. She passed away in 2021, so her videos are treasures!  https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?q=jeanne+robinson+dont+send+a+man+to+the+grocery+store&mid=E413F27471F2FE37B69CE413F27471F2FE37B69C&FORM=VIRE

Lisa, love the morning picture!

tsk, hope Tim was helped this morning at the wound center!  I verified with my doctor, they are able to see patients between yearly physicals, just to make sure your meds are working right and all that. My next yearly will be in February.

Phyl, more good puzzle pictures! Thanks for Amy's Blog, a lot like Sue's FB post!  I hope they stay at N1 next season!

Iowa Road Trip - Ledges State Park is just a few miles south of Boone, Iowa. Although the park features several overlooks, the most popular one is along Lost Lake Trail, which provides a view several hundred feet above the Des Moines River.

Western Mining History - This 1898 photo depicts Chilkoot Pass on the trail to the Klondike goldfields. The Klondike Gold Rush began in late 1896. Thousands of hopeful miners, known as "stampeders", were making their way to the Klondike via the Chilkoot trail from Dyea, Alaska. Canadian officials required that any person entering the region carry a full ton of supplies with them to ensure their survival in the harsh arctic climate. One of the men that made this trek recorded his experiences in a book, saying that it took forty trips to the top of this pass to haul all of his supplies.

Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away. ~ Unknown

LISA   All good at wound center.  However Tim fell again this afternoon ( I had told him to wait until I got back from Bible study) when he just had to leaf blow the rest of the leaves into the garden.  Fell backwards.  sigh.  On some ibuprofen and Tylenol.

OLDGUY   Cute greeting for Talon!

KAREN    "big jobs that got bigger instead of short jobs that got taller"  LOLOL

CLYNN  A+ on your doc report!!!   Beautiful overlook on Des Moines River .  Have you been there?  Western Mining history.  Now that would be an interesting book to read.  A whole other world.

.clynn - I recall seeing a closeup/enlargement of that Chilkoot Pass trek.  Think it was on a wall of a saloon/bar.  What caught my eye was a closeup of one of the ladies in the line dressed in high-laced ladies boots and wearing a skirt.
As you said, it wasn't a one time trek up.  Back and forth, back and forth, up and down.

Interesting reading was "A Story of a Young Teacher in Alaska".   They taught her survival and she taught classes including hygiene and people skills.  I was still teaching myself at the time.  Men would go into fields to prospect and be gone sometimes 2 years.  He'd show up for a while then begone while she delivered another child (or not) and survived on her own.  Many ladies and churches from USA would do what they could to educate and preach and teach social skills. .  .  . and trek around in heeled shoes and long skirts/dresses.  Anyone interested and can't find a copy - I'll lend it/share it if you give me your address.  I wish I could recall where I saw that big blowup pic.

Good Morning Beakers!

Lani, I love Dreamcatchers, there are so many different ways to make them, endless themes! Wouldn't it be fun to have N1 on the cam again! The eagles sure do show us that life changes and we go on... Mike has fresh bruises? Did he fall? Prayers for him, no more bruises!

Puff, one of my dear friends from Springfield was a Special Ed teacher in a small village in Alaska for a few years, she said it was an experience she could never have imagined. My department used our 'party money' at Christmas and sent gifts to the kids.

Phyl, the Green Bean Casserole! It's a classic! I am going to make Cranberry Fluff this year! Time to add something new. and the Munchkins might like it!

tsk, oh no, Tim is reminding me of my Dad again! You feel like you need to be there, can't trust him to sit and not get into trouble!

Western Mining History - Marble, Colorado is the location of one of the world's largest and highest quality marble deposits. The marble for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was quarried from the Yule quarry at Marble. The largest block took a team of 75 men an entire year and three attempts to finally get the piece they needed.

Sonnet 73: That time of year thou mayst in me behold

By William Shakespeare

That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.
In me thou see'st the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death's second self, that seals up all in rest.
In me thou see'st the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death-bed whereon it must expire,
Consum'd with that which it was nourish'd by.
This thou perceiv'st, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long.

Good morning 😃.   Foggy day at about 63 now, going to the 70’s.  Running about 6 degrees above normal now!   80 tomorrow!
Phyl, Very funny cartoons. Hope you are ready for tomorrow’s big dinner.
Clynn, Iowa is a very pretty state and I always enjoyed my trips through but never spent any time there except in my car. Thanks for continuing to post for the pictures. I will be interested to hear if the kids will eat the cranberry fluff I am imagining that has whipped cream or Cool Whip in it, which might be enticing to them I think they always will go for a big bowl of mac & cheese.  Read an article about Thanksgiving sides, and the favorites by state and that was one that showed up on the list. I don’t remember now where it was but I think it might’ve been pretty much in the south.
Phyl, thanks for your cartoons. They were pretty funny and I have a green bean casserole from Publix in the refrigerator defrosting as we speak. Yesterday was  a bonnamzaday for me as a neighbor who works at the food bank brought home boxes full of food they had to get rid of because of an overload of produce and things that they were unable to give away.  Not enough customers for the abundance in the larder.   Cj
Hopped nuts, grapes, corn, strawberries all good!
Lani and tsk, hope you can keep your guys yoright and safe!   Not an easy job for any one!   I accept my limitations although ut does not always make me happy!
Lisa,  any plans?   Good your blood sugar is down!  Think the ravens beat the chargers Monday!  Interesting as the coached of both teams are brothers!

Shall get ready for the day.   Plumber at 10 and cleaning gak at noon or a little after!

Clynn, see tge fluff recioe. Mlooks like the ine I used tomake w pinePple instead of cranberries.  Was my mothers recioe and a veey refreshing dish!
