MrN and DNF have been on the alert while on the nest around 10:00 this morning.  Probably the sub-adult BE flying around, then perching in the trees near the creek.  MrN brought a fish to DNF but she hasn't been interested in it so far.  Both eggs on view for a second or two during changeovers and nest digging or rolling the eggs.

Pheasants still in the area early this morning -- beautiful plumage esp on the male.  Listen for pheasant sounds about this time on the rewind.
At changeover about 2:00, cam ops got a good closeup of the egg just as MrN stepped in.  Amazing that the egg is about the size of his toe and talon.

Really heavy frost overnight, or is that some snow?  Melted off in sunshine, and a pleasant afternoon.
Nice floppy fish delivery video posted at the chat from early afternoon.  Here are some pics, too.  What kind of fish is this?  It looks really flat and thin, and pinkish red.

No great view of both eggs today, but they are there and all is well.
Must be really warm, or DNF was exercising before coming to the nest mid-morning.  Great closeup of her beak and tongue, panting.

Spring migration in process, red-winged blackbirds calling, and a song sparrow serenading the eggs about 11:00 this morning.

About 8:00 MrN on the nest, and a young sub-adult perched for a while in a creek tree [BPT maybe] with an older sub-a, or perhaps DNF!  Confirmation needed.  DNF returned for changeover about 9:00.

STL -- It was DNF that the subadult was perched next to.  The sub flew off but DNF and Mr. continued vocalizing and a bit later Mr. flew off the nest and briefly flew above DNF and then back to the nest.  The sub must have returned (unseen by the cam) and Mr. ran it off.  At that point DNF started eating a fish that I had not noticed until then.

Here are a couple of pics from yesterday of the Pileated Woodpeckers.  We had some extended views and saw both the male and the female.  The male has a red malar strip and its red crest extends to its beak.

Male.

Female.

Pheasants are one of the most colorful birds.  And the pileated woodpeckers are stunning, too.

DNF was dozing in the sun on the nest at noon today.

Nice, chilly, breezy day, with things pretty quiet at the North's nest.  About noon, MrN brought a fish to DNF, then he flew to the lower Love branch for a while.  About 12:30, he returned for a changeover. DNF took a turn at the Love branches.  No good views of the eggs on the rewind.

Quiet Sunday at the North nest.  One pic of DNF rolling the eggs -- Thanks to cam ops being on the job!
