Phyl & Lani - After I posted, I did receive a call from AC, and also from MY vet, not that other one in the office!  They both told me the same thing about the no passing of the placenta, that it should be ok and dissolve in her and come out when she goes to bathroom.  They both said, that since she is a first time mom with all these kittens, she has had many changes happen to her and just might not know what to do and is scared.  They also said, it was ok for her to use her old litter and not the pellet one if she felt more comfortable doing that as long as I wiped her down before getting back by the kittens.  She is eating and drinking, so they said that was a good sign.

Lisa thank goodness and both agree (good) .  It sounds like AC/Vet think that  otherwise all is 'normal'.  Poor girl {{{Misty}}}  I'd say---. some changes are going on within her.  Whenever you can, I'm sure you're comforting and talking to her. You/Jeff have done wonderfully with her.  And, yes Bandit needs to be considered as well---from what you say, I think he's being a good fella about it all.

Puff, great question. Last year the Mother Goose cam was able to focus on another geese pair on the bluff across the stream. But, I haven't paid that much attention beyond looking at the nest. I see Lisa has seen the same pair on the bluff  this year....

Kb, cute chick sitter  ;D .... you and Andrew have been busy.

Tsk, Sorry about the rain.... A good day to watch Mother Goose.

Phyl, cute cam rounds pic... DH2, goslings, Newman,  :-*  morning chicks pic LOL! ;D ... thanks for RRP blog. I'll read it now.  :)

Clynn, sweet pic of DH2  :-*

Toucan Ranch Rescue update :-*

Catch Viscerion, the crocodile, as he takes the sun in his pool daily, his pool will go back into the structure area soon. Also, be on the look for Randy and Rihanna while they exercise and recover during their rehabilitation process.

RELEASE NOTICE:

Ziggy, 3F Sloth: was released with a collar and monitored. Leslie went to the Release Site to help with his release. Leslie mentioned that Ziggy was getting tired while climbing the tree, and when before leaving, she checked on him and was in the same spot since the release. The next day we received information that Ziggy went all the way to the top of the tree. He is eating fresh leaves and enjoying the view from the top of the tree.

NEW ARRIVALS:

Alma, 2F Sloth: came from Bijagua. Her mom rejected her twice. Park rangers couldn't bring it to us because they didn't have a car at the moment, so our husbandry intern and vet supervisor volunteered and went to pick her up. It was a long drive to the northern part of CR (Cañas). She is dehydrated but seems ok; we don't know why her mom rejected her.

Sloth Pre-School Updates:

Coco & Geo, 2F Sloths: They are fine. They love the new structure, constantly climb, and are more active, curious, and exploring.
Landon, 2F Sloth: He is exploring and being more active with the new structure.
Pax & Liana, 2F Sloths: They are doing great too. Pax will be graduating soon.
Roo, 2F Sloth: He is eating more, getting veggie smoothies, and it seems he loves it
Robin, 3F Sloth: He has yet to show new advances. The basket has been moved near the ropes. If you see him pulling himself with the ropes, let us know!
Ollie,2F Sloth: He has issues adjusting to the milk at the moment.

A ball of sloths  ;D :-*

We love you, Robbie Robin ❤️ please start exercising your limps :-*

Yah!....50 minutes ago, someone posted they are allowing an intervention at the Dale Hollow nest.
Like i said, I no longer follow but this showed up in my fb feed.....
We shall see...

Off to see if my mower starts after sitting in the sun for hours.....if so I'll mow in back.

Did hours of leaf pick up in back yard gardens, not quite done yet, but hopeful

Also took Ollie for a quite cold walk at only 42....

Happy Day, Beakers!  :)

Lisa, hugs. Awww, sweet Misty:-*  Glad the vet thinks it's ok, but I'm sorry Misty is having such discomfort. Did the vet say how long it is okay to wait for that placenta to be expelled, and what to do and when if it isn't?

I found this page about retained placenta in cats:
https://www.petmd.com/cat/conditions/reproductive/c_ct_retained_placenta_afterbirth

Off for a walk... I'm trying to walk daily again. I'm adding a little distance at a time, and increasing my pace over time - due to old, ongoing knee injury constraints. But I'm up to 1.8 miles at 2.92 mph now, so I'm making some progress. I would like to go at least 3 mph for walking speed on these neighborhood walks, and I will get there if I can shave 1 more minute off my current 1.8 mile route. My knee is not so sure.  ;) :D

Take care, Beakers.  :)   Later...

BAZI  Interesting article on retained placenta,  You are doing GREAT with your walking.  Before this surgery the best I would do is 1.5 mi. on a routine walk.  I sure hope to get back to that.  Keep up the good work.  I'm not sure speed is essential. :-\

T40  I have used my Merlin ID on routine birds I know to practice.  However it is so long before I use it again it takes me a while to get it opened and set up to record - I swear the bird knows I'm struggling and then stops chirping.  It has happened so many times  LOL
