Happy Earth Day Everybirdy.
I celebrated the first Earth Day 1970 on Okinawa.  I think it was a Saturday then too.  Saturday on Okinawa usually meant snorkeling on coral reefs with the widest variety of fish I've ever seen.  Here in AgLand Iowa, not so much!!   I'll be watching nature near Decorah and LaCrosse on Explore/RRP cuz the weather here is lousy and I got chores to do.  If it was nice I'd go to Decorah and down a beer (or two...) at Dixie's.
Had my second (and last! .... ;) ::) ) surgery for Cataracts these past few weeks, and I now can see clearly and have more color in my life.  Didn't realize how blind I'd become until after the repair work, although failing the vision test for my driver's license last November was a red flag!  ::) .  I recommend the surgery to everybirdy if you are told you need it by your eye-doctor.  I'm pretty excited about my birding future and sight-seeing again.

Very interesting Eburg- Same experience here. . .

Couple (8 ?) years back Sec of State agent told me to have glasses.  Checkup with Optometrist - Yep it's about time.  He mentioned a few times before that he was watching.  OK It's time - And time went very quickly.  Actually procedure took maybe 20 minutes.  Did each eye a month apart.  Found out ugly plastic glasses are to protect you from the strong light and colors that you no longer were seeing.  The one that hit me the most at the beginning was when I sat down when I got home in front of the computer.  BLUE - Bright beautiful blue.  Who knew?

Hard part for me was the mask-type cover over the face (except for the eye).  I'm claustrophobic.  Eye drop routine/procedure was a pain-in-the-butt, but highly required re infection.

Have a lovely day everyone!  :)

I hope everyone is doing well. Sorry, I've been busy completing this portion of my convention duties.
I closed the Registration boxes lids at 9pm last night and said DONE! 611 badges done, each placed in labeled envelopes, all in correct Registration types by alpha.
Now, I'm driving to Sedona to give the boxes to the Meals Committee. They'll place everyone's meal tickets in the envelopes. For these next two weeks I can get
caught up at home. Work on convention bills to turn in, final reports to type out, excel files to be organized and placed on a flash drive for next year's Badge Committee.
I pick up the Registration boxes from Sedona and take to Registration Committee Chair on May 6th. I pack and get ready for the big event on May 10th thru 13th in Phoenix.
I'll finish my duty by attending in the Registration/Badges/Meals Room for the 3 1/2 days. Then pack Badge items on the 13th, store with next year's convention committee and return
home to my little corner of earth  ;D

tsk--Had to smile about the license question.  :)  I didn't pass the vision test in November, but I had 60 days to get things corrected.  Went to optometrist and got some coke-bottle lenses and signed up for a cataract exam.  With new glasses I got my license (took optometrist's signature to courthouse, got licensed, and signed up for surgery)
Puff--I have 20/20 vision now but might need reading glasses.  And my surprise too at all the color I had been missing on the computer.  Two tones turned into psychedelic wonderment.  Amazing Grace...."was blind but now I see".....Hallelujah!  :) ;) ::)

Hi Beaker friends - It is with heart-wrenching sadness that Star was sent to the Rainbow bridge this morning. :'( :'(  The vet who examined her said that with her age of 15 years, and being so small, and that she had not eaten since breakfast on Thursday and was spitting up liquid, that she was dehydrated and it was probably already affecting her organs.  She was suffering with heavy labored breathing and panting.

RIP my sweet darling precious Star
