some bounce
It is a pleasant 63 degrees as I sit on the patio and watch the guys prepare for the pour. Now we just have to wait for the cement person to find the house. Strangers often have difficulty finding our address.

Good Morning Beakers

A bit of relief in the heat today' s forecast - yesterday had a high of 89, but the dew point was 79 - today will get to 92 but dew point of only 71 and the forecast shows only 2 days over 100 with Wed and Thurs at 102.  Yesterday's forecast had us with 4 days over 100.

I was monitoring the rainfall in California last night - the Bakersfield to Lone Pine area appeared to have the most rainfall for the day, with most stations reporting 5 to 8 inches.  This same area also got upto 2.5 inches Sat. night.

OLDGUY    We will be getting your heat Wed and Thurs here.  :o 8)   Claire and her cats - a full time job!  Day in the Life of a Cat  :D  So many good links - Will save longer ones for lunch  :D

One of my butterflies that hatched this AM must have fallen off her cocoon as I found her at the bottom of the cage still with "bent" wings unfilled.  Managed to get her outside on my impatiens pot.  A few minutes later she was hanging upside down trying to get her wings filled.  Half hour or so later she was sitting on the top of the plant and I encouraged her to open her wings..  It's been about 1 1/2 hours and she is still sitting there but the tips of her wings are bent.   :(  Will check later.

This gorgeous bull has shedded its velvet which is the fuzzy growing layer that covers their antlers from spring until…about this time of the year.
The elk’s antlers are more brittle during this growth time.  Once the velvet stops growing, the elk start to rub it off using branches and tree trunks.
The antlers will harden completely in time for the breeding season (mid Sept to October), well-polished and ready to fight.

We are starting to see more bulls out and about, and hear their calls early in the morning.

Good morning Beakers!
Morning Lilbro, Blschue, Lori, Clynn, Tsk, Lisa, Karen, Oldguy, Puff, Eagles, Kb, Tig, Baz, Phyl, Peep, Jaspurr, Pink, Jilltosa, BL, Eburg, Weasel, Ezee, Bggolden, T40, ssrl, Maxie, Nrstooge, Omasawyer, Paulie, jicaji, LB, and All!

Oldguy, thanks for links. I'll spend time now listening. Have a good day.  :)

Tsk, okay, I'll have a nice toasted bagel with cream cheese.  ;D ... Has Tim left for his trip? .. oh tsk, I pray the butterfly will rally.  :(

Lisa, have a good day  :)

Tig, a nice cool morning for you. I hope the temps stay that way.

Kb, good news about your cousin/horses. I pray all will be safe .... red sky in morning, sailor take warning.  ;) ... we fine. It rained during the night and its been sprinkling, and the goldies have returned to our finch feeder. The hummingbirds are busy sword fighting over their feeder and bugs flying about.  ;D

Phyl, thanks for sharing the delicious french toast recipe.... goodness, they need rain over the South African lands. Prayers for rain.  🙏

{{{Clynn}}}, sweet Kelsey is ready to open her heart to a new member for her family. I know after having many cats and dogs in our home it can take some time, though I always seem to lose my heart to a critter in need. I know how much you loved your Seal Point cats, so I checked  Seal Point cat rescues in Iowa, there seems to be quite a few available. Maybe there's a female that might catch your heart and Harley would not feel threatened by. You know opposites attract  ;D ... great pic of HD/DH2 dads and their girls.  :-* .. I'm going to buy a Maui Strong top, thanks for posting the link... Have a great day with the munchkins!  ;D :-*

Take care everyone!  :)

Lori - Lovely & yummy birthday treat for Ginger yesterday!

Baz - My son in Orange County said they had some heavy rain and wind, but it has subsided.  He said that where he lives, there was no damage or flooding.  As for us on the central coast, we did not get any rain, but it was very gray and cloudy.

Tsk - Awe, that is sad how Tim & his bro were going to rent a pontoon and do some fishing - hopefully they can plan to do that sometime in the near future.   Hope Tim still has a good trip. :)

Weasel - Yes, my son who lives in Orange County gave me a similar report as to what you have just explained.  Thank you for the good info.

I have to cut this short, I need to head out to a medical appt.  BBL

Beakers have a nice day and stay safe.

That is so neat you hear the elk bulls calls Lani!..I assume they don't bother you or Sadie, but you know about the word assume, LOL

Whew, got watering in this morning, and a walk with Ollie and Chris in! (second day in a row).....yeah as it will be 100 degrees tomorrow and Wednesday with only a titch cooler on Thursday. Just now dew point is climbing and heat as well.
Went grocery shopping for the week too......

Will need to be hunkering down for the rest of the week me thinks..

So sad about your monarch tsk....keep us posted if it makes it or not.

There are very few basements in Southern California.  Our house was built in 1979 and it is the standard California home stucco on concrete slab.  The slabs now are heavily reinforced and tied into the structure.  This is to help limit earthquake damage.  Many older homes were not attached to the slab and can "slide" off during a quake.
