I went to the live cam about 11:15 - Chat had said volume turned off and John would take care of it.  I didn't hear anything at that time and sound was on.

I hope whatever was going on there in Decorah will be resolved and shared....

My son thinks i've "lost it" as he says:....I am listening to the rain on my inside laptop surveillance camera. No sound on tv....Ha, I miss the sounds of rain! The dew point is too high to open up...LOL

Yes, and I can see outside from my couch!
Started about 12:26....heavy for 10 minutes, and since moderate to light....may end up with oh I dunno 1/10th of an inch to 1/2?.....we shall see.

I've just now read Puff's post about the apparent 'horror' at the farm near Hatchery.
  A thought...
Any one of those watching the cam could have called --Decorah police/fire & rescue  (not 911 as it's connected to local of incoming calls; and made a report explaining that they were Decorah Hatchery cam watchers via RRP, etc. and what they were  seeing/ hearing over the cam's video and audio. The authorities just may have sent a detail to check  the complaint out. The authorities know about the RRP cams and cam watchers, ATF'ers and tourists. They might not have thought it was a nutter calling.   ???

You are so right Phyl.  It might have help that person, she was so upset.  I'll try to program that message to myself in the future.

I think someone (John?) may have got wind and was sheltering out by cutting  audio.

And, you, Puff are so right!  When I read about John and what he had done. I thought not only was it right and called for to cut the audio. But, un beknown to us, he or he  had someone in cam ops make a call to authorities. In truth, such Info  would have been better received from him or his staff.

You're a really good human, Puff!  :-*

Let me tell you a story, Reader's Digest version.  Over 20yrs ago...There was an elderly lady in Joplin, Mo who was on a call to a telemarketer from NYC about some insurance she had and was intending to increase. Suddenly, the caller didn't get a reply from the old woman. Just dead silence on the land line.  He conferred with his supervisor who agreed he should  contact Joplin Police/EMT about the call and that the old woman lived alone; stating his and his company's concern. The CSR provided his name, tag #, call center ph #, Company name, his super's name and the call center manager name and phone. With in 20 mins of call ending. Joplin Police/EMT services arrived. Triaged and had her in ST Thomas Hospt ER downtown Joplin.  That CSR save that old woman's life and lessened the severity of her stroke!
That old woman was Jim's mother, Faye.

Jim was  a notorious  disliker  of telemarketers  . But, now he will never be rude or condescending to one ever again. Nor will I.

Good Afternoon Beakers

We got back about 30 minutes ago from our visit with grandbaby.  She is so cute, and, OMG that head of hair!

kb - Beautiful morning flowers.  The drive across is 1 hr and 15 minutes to get to their house.  Traffic was a lil heavy heading there, but we sat in it for over an hour to get back home at the bridge.  I believe the hospital is maybe 10 minutes away from their house.

Puff - Whatever was happening, it sure did not sound good.

clynn - Love the pic of DH2!  I was very excited, and Bradley opened the door with Sydney in his arms when we arrived.  He sure loves that lil girl.

tsk - I had a great day of cuddling!  Glad to hear the storms will miss you.

Phyl - Thank goodness for the telemarketer!

Lisa, aren't you going to post some of the pictures on FB? I will, if you want!  Sydney is a beauty! Here is one of my favorites:

Phyl, OMGoodness, your story about Jim's mother...

clynn - You can share...I figured you all were sick of baby pics already.  ;D

tsk - Yes, I got to cuddle the kitties.  Stewie looked like he was mad, and didn't want another new thing in the house.  ;D  Lizzie aka Ziva..wow, she has grown.  I would love to see Piper and Daisy now, since I have seen Ziva this big.  She is almost as big as Misty!  Sydney gets the dark hair from both sides.  Bradley is a dark brown hair, and so is Kelly's. Kelly's Mom and both brother's have dark hair.  Her dad had lighter brown hair. Bradley's dad has black hair.

Great picture Lisa!  Black hair or dark brown from  the mama and the papa!  Very sweet!    I thought that drive to his house would take a while!  Is tge weekend traffic from folks going to the beach , etc?  Did Kelly rest while you were there?  Does Bradley get maternity/paternity leave?  When does mik leave?   And, did you see Lizzie?
Interesting story Phyl on Jims mother!  Thanks for sharing!
Wish John would post about the to do at the farm!  I was thinking the fire might have been set by the farmers to burn trash, etc.  i also wondered if the girl was talking about some one killing an animal and calling to her grandma.

Lots of good posts and good to see all of you. Seds

Raptor Resource Project's Cam Life 2023 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUlJdWrSII4

  Aug 6, 2023
What a season 2023 was! We cheered HM, HD, and DH2; celebrated and mourned at Great Spirit Bluff; crossed our fingers for the Decorah North eagles (if one eagle could have incubated an egg all by himself, Mr. North would have done it); and were enthralled by the beautiful birds, turtles, flowers, frogs, and sunrises and sunsets on the Flyway. But the end of the summer is almost here and we need to take our usual fall break for cam maintenance and replacement!

We'll be shutting the Decorah and Decorah north cams down at 5:00 pm CDT on Wednesday, August 16. Come join us for a last 2023 chat on the Decorah nest from from 3 pm to 5 pm nest time (https://www.raptorresource.org/birdca...) and mark your calendars for Saturday, October 14th - the day we turn both cameras back on!

Between now and the 16th, we'll be taking a few strolls down memory lane, thanking some contributors, and sharing fan art and videos. This video was created by Marilyn Mitchell. If you have videos, images, or art celebrating the Decorah Eagles, Decorah North Eagles, GSB Falcons, or the Flyway, please send it my way!
