Lani - Morning appt went good, but thought for sure she would put me on insulin.  She said, my A1C fluctuates so much that she won't do that till I get to a 7.5 A1C. Three months ago I was 7.2, this month I went up to 7.4, but have ate alot of Valentine's and Easter candy.  My own fault.

Per AC's request Misty went back to my vet office for an ultrasound today, but the vet I see was not there, so she saw another vet who had no bedside manners!  I felt like it was a wasted trip, as he acted like he didn't even want to see her.  He says, I can only see three kittens, and that is not a given and we can't tell a due date from an ultrasound.  I said, hmmm Dr. B did her first ultrasound on March 23, said he saw 6 kittens and said she was due two weeks from that day.  This Dr. did not know what to say to that, so out the door I went, and texted AC what they said.  They are getting the ultrasound report today too, so their vet can take a look.

HAPPY DAY BEAKERS!  :)

I got my 1st Shingrix vaccine today, about 2 hours ago. So far, no kickback.  ;)  Cooking an early dinner now, in case I start to go downhill.  No matter if I get any temporary symptoms from the shot, it will be waaaaay better than the severe case (it was the worst case of Shingles my doctor had ever seen, he said, over his entire 25 years of practice) of Shingles I endured in 2006.  Just thinking back to that Shingles illness I went through - I was 53 years old when I got it - gives me the big-time shivers.  And, woo hoo! as of this year, its cost is fully covered for those with Medicare Part D (Medicare Prescription Drug Plan), with $0 out-of-pocket.  Second shot in that 2-shot series is supposed to be given from 2 to 6 months after the 1st shot I got today (for people in my age and health status category), with most recommending that older folks get it closer to the 2 months interval, than the 6 months interval. I will go back after 2 months to get my 2nd Shingrix, for sure.

E4E, I can't talk about my personal Shingles history without thinking of Kris and the post-herpetic neuralgia he has had to deal with after his awful case of Shingles. I hope he is continuing to improve bit by bit, and I so hope he will ultimately get to say goodbye to it altogether.

TSK, that is such great news about Tim's results, and he got a stent tune-up, too. I hope you're both feeling some relief, and that Tim, and you, are both feeling good, and that you're all settled back in at home soon, with Lulu giving Tim his loving dose of kitty hugs, too.  No scary Fright Night fake mouse deliveries to your bed tonight!  ;) :D

Lisa, hrumph!  That's what I say about Vet #3's behavior toward you and Misty, and his report of his findings.  Wonder who is right. Would love to know if he compares his findings with the other vet you saw before at that same practice. There's a big diff between seeing 3 kittens vs 6!!  Even if it turns out he is right about there being 3 kittens, he doesn't need to be so pissy in his manner.  It's a business, after all.  Not to mention it being a business with a big built-in emotional impact for the animals and their human caregivers.

Clynn and Lani, Louis is a cad!!!  ::)  ((Iris))  :-*

Waving to All the Beakers! The oven just went "ding!"  Dinner's ready!  :D

KB   LOL  Just helping with the oil change  Love the snowy :)  AND the white shepherd helping...LOL

PHYL  Cheery AM flowers.  Cowboy chick  LOL

CLYNN  Love the bright happy AM pics.

LISA   LOLOL  I hope this isn't just a fat cat   ::) ::)     What a mess with the vets and US.   Tim is on 3 diabetic pills  Metformin, Januvia and Jardiance.   Hasn't had an A1C is a while as he's afraid...  However in the hospital his blood sugar was in the 140's which he has not seen in forever. ( usually in 170s.) But he was not eating much so we will see down the road.  I would think your doc might try other diabetic drugs before insulin???

BAZI  What nerves did your horrifying and painful case of shingles involve?  So you still needed the vaccine and not rely on immunity?  It laid me low for a day. :P   Hope you can weather it out.

Home by 11;30 . Pretty smooth discharge.  Still waiting to pick up new meds.   Tim went through his mail and I went and modified the drug list he keeps with him.  Took Lulu for her nail cutting and tech also has an almost 1 yr old calico as well who is ALSO a retriever!!!  She showed me a video.  LOL   She is now up to 8.9 #    Can hardly believe she gains weight with all the running and play she does.

Oh, I am about to cry...I was almost finished with my post and I deleted it by mistake.  :'( :'( I hate typing on this laptop...}

tsk, easy for the numbers to go down when one doesn't eat much! poor Tim, he has a sweet tooth if I remember... Was he glad to have Lucy on his lap again?

Phyl, good article on the Bermuda Triangle! I love mysterious things, maybe because I was born only 5 years after Roswell and only 117 miles away. Do you watch 'Mysteries of the Abandoned'?

baz, Sam's has called me twice reminding me to get my second Shingrex shot, guess I willl go Thursday. I had a very mild case years ago, I only went to the dermatologist because it was getting near my eye. I was shocked when the Doc said it was shingles! Took the meds and it was gone quickly!

Lisa, why do people have to be mean...I have my favorite vet, but if she isn't there the others are very nice too!
It willl be interesting to see which was right! It could very welll be the one with no bedside manor! The other one was wrong on the date, and 3 sounds more normal for a first litter...

Lani, I was so hoping Louis would be faithful to Star this year!

CLYNN   Actually Lulu didn't pay too much attention to Tim until he sat in his recliner for a nap about mid afternoon.  Then she hopped in her usual spot between his legs  LOL

Barb and Tom will be back from Florida tomorrow.  Will pick them up late afternoon.  Will be glad to have them back :)

Kb - I was a lil frustrating, and stressing for Misty.

Baz - I agree, he didn’t have to be so pissy.  It just made me get an attitude.

Tsk - Glad to hear that Tim is home.  You have had a busy day.  I have tried some other diabetic meds in addition to my Metformin, but the pill form like Januvia and Glipazide have made me have lows during the day, that I am just stuffing myself with food to get my sugar back up.  Most insulin pens are DPP4 inhibitors, and those make my Fibromyalgia act up as they cause joint and muscle aches. She was thinking about putting me on a basal insulin.

Clynn - I too waiting to see which one was correct on how many kitties.  Congrats to Boulder County in egg #1.  I am not a laptop typing fan either.  I am so use to a desktop.

Have a good night , everyone.

LisaGlad doc appt went well. Some vets think 'bedside' manners aren't required for pets/parent's.  >:(
How many times can a due date be wrong? What are the odds that the ill mannered vet is correct---
What a frustrating ordeal you / Misty. Maybe the AC will have the 'right' anwsers. Hope so.

Lani/Clynn  Louis should be banished from the skies so he can't travel then he can keep himself to himself.     ;D

Bazi  Ditto TSK    My late Mother had a scathing Shingles experince-- it was frightening to look at and more!!  However, she got natural immunity and a horribly scarred body .        Jim and I are due our 2nd Shingrix on 4-21.  I'm gonna have to remind him to set this up w/Publix Pharma, again!

Tsk glad Tim's home and all went smooth.   Many thanks for the Lulu report!  I think she's gainng weight because she's replacing what she 'works off' in play or maybe  has a high metabolism that comes with youth.

{{Clynn}}so sorry about you post. Look at those hens!   Congrats to Boulder County  Osprey- first egglet ;)

Well, I hope I covred everything.   Take out tonight.   Tomorrow s dinner: Italian sauasage (grilled) and peppers/onions w/diced tomatoes and pasta on side. Vino and vino. romaine salad topped and tosses w/ olive oil vinegrett ( Maggie's hassling me about chow.)
Soooo......

Phyl - I bet those pencil shrubs look very nice!  Re; the Bermuda Triangle - that has always been such a mystery and I have watched things about that area and it hides a lot of secrets . . . . . :o   Have a nice din-din tonight  :)   I cut up 3 pcs of chicken from our bbq the other day, and we are having burritos with all the trimmings!

LisaG - I feel so bad for all you & Jeff are going thru.  You are such special folks to have changed your way of living in order to take such loving care of a kitty that found her way to your home.  Heaven has a special place for people like you (but we all don't want you to get there too soon)!  Thank you both for being the special folks that you are.

Lani - I know you are still busy with all that stuff with the state convention, but hope you are still able to have some rest with your family and your furry members!

Baz - So happy you got your Shingrix.  I know people have to be tired of hearing of my Kris, so I will send you a pm.

Tsk - I am truly so happy that Tim is home and as comfortable as he can be!  Really wishing all the best for Tim. I'm sure Lulu was happy to have him back!  Happy that you guys will be seeing Tim's brother Tom & Barb tomorrow - that will be good for all of you.

Clynn - Oh no, I feel your agony about losing a post after spending so much time in reading and responding  :o :(   Thanks for pics!

I will now share that we have planned to take a trip to TN.  We booked this vacation last Nov.  When my hubby retired back in Jan. 2022, his employer gave him a 500.00 gift certificate to visit Dollywood and a 500.00 certificate for Graceland.   We will also be staying 3 nights with my Cousin & her hubby (who we are very close with and can't wait to see)!  My Cousin & her hubby moved to Tn from Manteca, CA., 2 years ago after her hubby retired and they are so happy in TN!  We know we are fortunate to be taking a wonderful trip that is partially paid with certificates to those 2 places!  We fly out of SF very early 4/25 at 5:15 am - so we need to head out in the middle of the night.

It is hard to leave my Mom & sis and my little Star.  It is a lead weight and I think about it during the night.  :(

Everyone have a good night & sleep well.

It used to be thought that once you had shingles, you were immune. It's now known that is not correct. It is very possible to get shingles more than once, though I'm not sure just how common that is. My next door neighbor had 2 separate cases of shingles, years apart! She finally got her Shingrix vax a couple of years ago. There's great info about who should get the shingles vax (Shingrix) on the CDC website (and who shouldn't).

Good info page about the shingles vaccine, who should get it, and who should not, and how well it works in different age groups and populations, how long it lasts, and other related info:

https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/shingles/public/shingrix/index.html - "What Everyone Should Know About the Shingles Vaccine (Shingrix)"

Also, the shingles vaccine info for healthcare professionals is (This link also includes some FAQs, more info on efficacy and duration of protection, and info re. administering it with other vaccines):
https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/shingles/hcp/index.html

TSK, I'm sooo glad you and Tim are home! And yay, Barb and Tom coming, too!  I hope all sleep well tonight. I didn't mention my shingles case being horrifying, but it was very severe. Well you know, shingles comes in varying levels of severity, from mild to wild, like taco sauce. LOL.  ;) :D  My dad's case of shingles was so mild, he didn't even know he had it till my mother saw a rash on his back and asked him about it. He didn't know it was there, and had zero symptoms! They went to the doc, and it was shingles! He was one of the lucky ones who got an extremely mild case. My sister's daughter (who is the Mom to my LGN), had shingles as a toddler, or she may even have been younger! Hers was also very mild, but not as mild as my father's. A lot of people don't know that even very young children can get shingles. You asked where mine was... It's been 17 years and now I don't remember the name or number of the spinal nerve root that my shingles activated and traveled from. I'm guessing from looking at a skin dermatone map that it might have been primarily C5, but I really don't recall which. I think there's some adjacent area overlap in the affected skin dermatomes from shingles, too, from what I gather. I'm sure you know way more about that. I'm just a layman on this stuff, but have tried to learn a little about it. Mine caused the rash and blisters on my right side across my upper back, lower part of neck, I think part of upper chest, too if I recall, and the length of my right arm, which was permanently scarred, though the scars have faded a lot over 17 years. But many of them were in those perfect little circles of nerve prongs that each made blister scars where the nerve endings spread out as they approach the skin's surface. Sorry, layman's description, LOL. It was very, very, very painful, and I was very ill for a long time. Thank goodness I had a complete recovery, and didn't get any of that lingering, awful postherpetic neuralgia, like some do. Anyway, that's why I say no temporary vaccine side effects, even if they were to make me sick for a couple of days, would ever deter me from getting the vaccine. Good news, though, so far, no side effects from my vaccine today, other than some slight soreness in the muscle at the injection site... fingers crossed it stays that way! Oh gosh, did you read all that?!? Sorry... I went on a tangent.  ::)

Clynn, arrrgh on accidentally deleting your post! Grrr!

Lisa, hope you can sleep better tonight!

I've gone on too long... look at the time!  :o  Zippo is still up!  :o :o  Oh lawww... I need to go. LOL!

G'night Beakers. Peace. SED.
