POST FOR UPDATES ON ANDRIA:This pinned post will be the only place in the group for updates regarding Andria and the health issue that she is having - this will serve to keep all questions and answers in one place. Please check back here for updates - I don't think FB notifies when posts are edited so you'll have to scroll. I will add any updates to the bottom.
E-3: Just after noon today Andria appeared to be trying to cast a pellet and then had what appeared to be a seizure on the nest. A few minutes later she was able to cast a huge pellet. But she does still show signs of something not being "right" with her.
KNF's Wildlife Biologist, Steve, and Wildlife Technician, Cody, are aware of the situation and are keeping watch.
KNF has put out this statement: "2:20 PM bald eagle - We understand that Andria is having health problems at this time. If she falls from the tree, we will be able to retrieve her and get her to help. We will not intervene by climbing the tree."
Please try not to speculate at this time as the only way to know for certain what caused the health issues in Andria is to have tests run.
While this is certainly not anything we expected to happen, we just have to watch Andria to see how she is faring.

December 8, 2023 Update:
07:44:00 From Steve Shively, Kisatchie National Forest Wildlife Biologist:Obviously,
Andria is big time sick. I thought she looked like she was recovering yesterday but now it looks like a long downhill slide. Maybe she will recover, but if I had to bet I would bet not.
We will NOT climb the tree to capture her. If she falls out of the nest, we will try to retrieve her and get her to LSU in hopes she could be saved then release her back if she is saved.
If she dies or is off the nest for a prolonged period it is not likely that Alex could incubate the eggs to hatching much less raise young to fledging alone.
There are lots of hazards in the natural world for all wildlife and eagles are not immune. Most wildlife, eagles included, manage to keep population going despite hazards.
Lots of eagles in Louisiana and their population is increasing. Unfortunate and tragic that this eagle is suffering like this and may die. But that's reality.
We all hope she survives and eggs hatch and young fledge. If she dies, we may discontinue streaming this nest, depending on circumstances.
As for
outlawing hunting, will never happen, should never happen, as an avid hunter/fisherman, I would advocate strongly against it. Outlawing lead would be good, even if that's not what's ailing her.

The first picture is where Andria has been sitting and watching her eggs. I witnessed this beautiful momma as she mustered up her strength and stumbled to her eggs. She gently placed her feet around the eggs, and settled upon them. She has been a good, gentle momma. Nature is gentle and beautiful, but also wild and untameable.
