Lisa, that was a big breakfish for HD this morning!  My pic was about 9:00.

Blackbirds and crows were busy near the pond and in maple tree branches about 8:00.  And a hawk in the branches above N1 about 10:00 (at first I thought a young sub-a BE, still not positive).  HM and HD in one of their trees at the base of the Pond bluffs at 11:00, then at posting time after 1:00, they are in the tree at the top of the bluffs (no pic).

Great pics, STL

I thought that looked like a sub adult.

Could be a sub-a.  I tried comparing bird sizes in recent pics, posted again here.  What do you think?  Anybody else with more expert eyes?

I see more of an eagle face on the sub, then I do a hawk face.

About the eagle or hawk this morning -- Lisa your pic shows an eagle beak, so that settles it for me.

BL, That's such a great pic of Mom and Dad Decorah on Christmas Eve in 2015.  Thanks for sharing it again.

Happy Holidays,  Merry Christmas,
and Good Will to Everybirdie in the New Year

The year is coming to an end, with things pretty quiet today.  A red-tailed hawk about 8:00 this morning.  HM I think perched at the top of the tall bluff trees, then soaring with others.  And a pretty sky view at evening.   SEDs everybirdie.

Two red-tailed hawk about 9:00 this morning, perched in a snag, not sure exactly where, possibly the maple tree between the barn and the Pond.

HM or HD perched in their several usual places around the Pond bluffs between daylight and noon.  (no pics)
