Stopped by Decorah Eagles and found HM in the trees. Such closeup not sure at all if this is close to the creek, the cliff or N1?

Your pic is a tree they perch in by the bluffs in the morning.  :D

Good to know.  I use to have more time to watch them. :(
Bluff was the word I was trying to think of when I posted.  ::)

I have been watching  HD (?)  at the puddle in the creek bed  in  Decorah Eagles, either this squirrel was very brave or very     'stupid'. It  flittered and hopped
all around the pond  sometimes darting to and fro whole our bald eagle stood there in the puddle  enjoying the light rain. Not really paying too much attention
the long tailed rodent.
Sometimes it would hop to the puddle edge and steal a drink and then run back to puddle edge.
I fully expected to see this critter linger too long and get snatched up in t alons.  As of t his posting all is well for squirrely. And our bald eagle is still enjoying
a gentle rain.

Phyl, I've been watching the same activity!  I'm guessing that it's HM because it's a really large bird with a big head and beak and long wings that almost reach to the end of the tail.  Could be totally wrong.  Anyhow, it started out perched way high above N1 before 4:00, then flew to the stream (creek) to putter in the water like in your pic, sharing the space with the squirrel.  Then it perched for a short while above the water, then obtained a stick and flew with it to the Y, where it has been perching for some delicious closeups to be posted next.

Closeups of the eagle on the Y and N1.  Look closely at the left profile showing the beak and nostril.  Looks like there are two openings.  Could this be a visitor instead of HD or HM?

Hoo Dat down in Trout Creek ,up on the N1 Y and in the nest ?    ;D

pssst hey HD .. tea kettle .. lets go back to this here nest tree.

It's sturdy, already has a solid platform on it and all we have to do is go to Nest Depot and drop some crib rails on it. ??

Being up in a tree on top of 'The Bluffs' is giving me a bad hair day and ruffling my tail feathers everyday.   ;)

Very cool fly off of the Y downstream on the video rewind !

STL, it is HM.

Look at BL's last pic...all the talons are there on the right foot.

A few I snapped of HM

Lisa I don't recall ever seeing this camera perspective from N1 before.

Very cool cam ops.  8)

I've got my talons crossed HM & HD find there way back here to N1 for this 23-24 season.
I trust the eagles and whatever their long ingrained genetic instinct guides them to do is what is deemed by them to be the best thing for them.   :)

It's just that there is such a great camera and microphone set up here and I can appreciate all the hard work that the RRP Air Force put into installing and maintaining it and all.

Come back to the N1 fold HM & HD.   :-*

Awesome screen cap Phyl.   8) 8) 8)

I'm still shocked at how dry the Trout Creek stream bed is to the west/upstream of N1 at this time of year !  :o

Them there eagles need some flow below N1 you know.  :D

This pic STLbf strikes me as a quintessential picture of a Decorah Bald Eagle on the Y.

Ushering in meteorological winter perhaps ..

I'd bet good money I know which direction HM's beak and eye focus is on within  4° @ 2,000' ..

Went back and read my post---gosh a mighty! I need some accuracy exercises to type.  ::)

Have a 'Good Night ' and SEDS.

BL - Your view, I am thinking is from the new cam that John had mentioned in the talk the other day, we put a new camera at N1 closer to the white barn.
