Monarch, good to see that DNF is on duty.  We don't really care where she was all day, as long as she's back now.   ;)

How much snow predicted overnight in Decorah?  TV weather makes it look ominous, and deep.

Snow storm all over the area, sleet also.  Nasty, but the eagles are prepared.  Roll that egg way down in the cup and sit tight.

It's still egg-making season, with copulation on the Ladder Branch before daylight today.

Lori, love that pic of the Norths calling together on the snowy nest.

About 2:00, DNF was on the nest, but I couldn't find the changeover on the rewind. MrN was on the ground near the nest tree at 2:30, perhaps hunting, but he did not bring anything to the nest at 3:00 when DNF left and MrN took over.  DNF spent a few minutes on the Ladder Branch, then must have changed her mind about who should be brooding the egg.

I just watched MrN trying to snuggle himself into the nest - there is a problem we mentioned a couple weeks back about the nest/nest bole looking small.  Tonight it was too small even for one egg.  He finally made space for his girth, but it appeared that he wasn't deep enough to share the heat of the brood patch directly on the egg.  Lots and lots of wiggling and adjusting done - but now he has  ended up with his butt (he has a butt?) he has his butt backed up and out of the nest laying on a bump of snow. Brrrrrrr

Rewind back to about 6:40 nest time.

Lots of adjustments for DNF and MrN to accommodate the new egg.  Just wait until they have 2 or maybe 3!

Evening changeover from DNF to MrN about 6:00 just before dark.  He is still on the nest at 1AM.   Brrr.
