Cold morning at DNN, but the deer are out and about.  Dogs barking in the background keep them on the alert.  Could also be the buck feeding near the does.  I wonder if the deer eat the hay put out for the cattle, at the other end of the pasture.  Has anyone seen them?

Eagles made an appearance at the nest about 11:00 this morning.  DNF might have brought a leafy branch, followed by MrN with a new cornstalk. Neither stayed very long.

Question about updating Forums to 2023 -- Does this happen at any particular time, like when first egg is laid?  Or when someone (probably Amy) has the time?

STL -- It's when Amy has time.  Usually it's around Jan. 1 but sometimes it's awhile after that.

It's a great day to watch the deer as they head for the creek and beyond.  Lots of play, maybe some dominance between the larger does and the smaller ones that were fawns last summer.  Rewind to about 4:00 and enjoy!

Full moon a couple days ago, coyotes and dogs might be howling and barking overnight if it is clear.

A little nest work around 8:00 this morning.

Icy mist this morning, but eagles are at work on the nest.  DNF carried in a stick in her beak, usually holds them in her talons.  MrN came right after to help arrange materials.  At about 8:00, DNF worked on breaking off a stick from the Perching Branch next to the nest. Not sure if she got it.

About noon, the cam ops found a Kingfisher perched on the Brush Pile.

Hey Phyl, scrolling back through today's rewind found a visiting sub-adult perched very close to the nest on the Yonder Tree, Pasture Branch about 10:00 this morning.  At first I thought it was MrN but the distinctive eye boo-boo wasn't there, nor was the back of head special feathering of DNF.  The Norths must have been elsewhere because there was no challenge.  Around 2:00, a flock of grackles was feeding on the creek bank for a short while.
