5:55 Not too bad for beautiful butterflies.  Not sure I believe those very low times we have been seeing.  Mere seconds HA!
Great clean 3 inch snowfall this morning.  Just very nice.  Mostly gone now, and I hear Summer will be back soon.
I have been reminiscing with Mary's wedding slide show that I sent to ev1.  It is so nice.  She did a wonderful job on her wedding.  Especially the photographer. Who created the slide show with music. Great scenes of the whole day including Joan on her happiest of days.  We were so blessed to be able to attend Mary's wedding, and we knew it.
Thanks for being here today.

Hi Jewelies! We awoke to a dusting of snow this morning. By 8am it was gone. Then all afternoon we had snow squalls, rain, hail and wind! Been watching a pair of mourning doves trying their best to build a nest in the rhododendron outside the kitchen bay window. They keep bringing beak fulls of straw from out front where we planted grass seed. But the wind is making their job so hard for them. As soon as they get the nesting materials placed, the wind blows it out of the bush!

Cal, it's supposed to be 80 here on Tuesday! Robin texted this morning at 10:31 saying she had just gotten her shot! Whew! Glad we are all taken care of now! Hope she doesn't have any bad side effects.  My sisters and I had sore arms the next day. Younger sis had chills and a bad headache. Rather have that than COVID!  Be so cool to have the history of your schoolhouse. Was it a one room school? My mom talked about the one room school she went to. It was heated by a pot belly stove! Had to go to an outhouse! Sounded a lot like Little House on the Prairie!

Jo, I remember looking at Mary's wedding pics! It was a beautiful wedding! Joan looked so pretty!

Have a great rest of your day! Stay safe!

hi rues! :) wow you got hit hard in the afternoon! poor mourning doves they need to live in a heated barn. pair of my barn birds building a big nest on top of a duct pipe its huge for two birds i always worry with new babies. lots of work goes into new babies. yay robin got her second shot and is okay! yes the school house one room there is another little building behind it i bet was the outhouse one big room with two small rooms up front one on each side of opening. i saw once in the lawson review said crenshaw school house 100 years old that day they have stuff from years ago i was so sad when part of it fell down. i loved little house on the prairie. i forget who mows at your place you right. crow does the pool ?

hi joho i too remember marys beautiful wedding joans dress so beautiful and her hair oh you looked so nice too and your hair so beautiful! :) no way can people do the puzzle in like 41 sec remember how jp use to say that.

Daily Updates
A Lot Happening at the NABC - UPDATE April 22, 2021
22 April 2021
 Print Email
Chucky the Woodchuck at the NABC
Chucky the Woodchuck at the NABC

There has been a lot of bear action in the last few days at the NABC, and "Taught" and "Pooch" have been capturing in good videos.

On the 15th, with mating season around the corner, Holly challenged Tasha in Tasha’s den as shown in this 2½-minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqWE2xOm2mY The next day, Holly intensely scent-marked the area, doing very pronounced stomp-walking and then rubbing her scent on a tree https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YxTa3X7Kck

Also on the 16th, Lucky did an intense check of Tasha’s den in this 3-minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hex6ieveIBg I wonder what he was smelling. Later that day, he took a bath and really seemed to enjoy washing away winter in this 5-minute video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZpcnAT3lBc

A couple days later, Chucky scratched away winter, maybe showing us a bit of what made Lucky take his vigorous bath. I don’t know if woodchucks take baths like that. Chucky just settled for a good scratch in this 2-minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM9PYsJcaRs

Also on the 18th, Tasha said it was time for her bath in this 5½-minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFKyxDBD9oA

On the 21st, Chucky took center stage in this 4-minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFkIwFrcA2U Chucky extended the use of the bedding Tasha gathered for her den by gathering mouthful after mouthful and moving to her burrow. I say ‘her,’ for Chucky, thinking that she is providing bedding for babies. I hope we will see a family of woodchucks growing up with Chucky caring for them. Here at the WRI, the mother woodchuck carried a baby from the burrow systen under the boiler shed to the burrow systen under the garage 20-30 feet away.

Today, was Volunteer Appreciation Day with two Bear Center broadcasts saying how much we appreciate and depend on volunteers for so much as is shown in these 2 half-hour videos.

Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqzegeLqKbE

Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suf8jVe_rHQ

At the den cam, Spanky seems to have faded away. I’m waiting for word on when he was last seen in the area.

I love spring and all that happens now.

Thank you for all you do.

Nice bright day here again this morning.  It is 42 degrees at 9 o'clock.  So will most likely warm up a lot from here.  I hope so, because I intend to wear shorts to see the knee doctor at 2pm. CUL EV1 GB

Hi ev1,
Dr. Stanfield is impressive and ready to go on May 17th.  Lots of tests and etc. first.  Office looked same as always except a few seats were blocked.  Lots of masks, but not much real distancing. Lots of x-rays 1 prone and 3 standing.  Bone on bone says he.  Need whole new knee needed. Home now and feel sleepy.  Late for a nap, but might just happen anyhow.
